Hi, I actually started to try think like this and I realize the importance of folding yielding more EV in certain situations.. but sometimes when I play I forget this and do what I stated in the OP. I think I need to drill this concept into me.

The first point has really clicked with me and has just made me realize that I am acting too fast and snap making decisions. I think this is where the whole problem stems from. I'll try what you say, thanks for replying it has helped a lot already.

Hi guys,
I have a very costly problem in my mindset that I don't know how to fix.
I know I am a good player and I can beat my current stakes for a good winrate if it wasn't for one flaw, which is that I keep thinking regs are trying to bluff me.
As a result I make loose calls and hero call a lot which is costing me a lot of money.
Ie. Someone 3-bets me or 4-bets me and I will talk myself into calling (even if they are unknowns) with a marginal hand because I just feel they are trying to bluff or outplay me (in a typical Blind vs BTN scenario) and I will call down light because I feel they are always bluffing in this spot and my hand must be good.
I am making extremely bad assumptions but I don't realize until after the session when I am reviewing the hands.
I think it is an EGO problem that I don't want to be outplayed or people to bluff me because I think I am better than them (I am playing lower than usual stakes but now stuck at these stakes as a result from this flaw).
My first thought is "he has to be bluffing here, everyones agro in 3bet pots, I'm going to call down with my second pair".
It doesn't always happen, usually I play solid but occasionally I'll start doing all of the above and cost myself a lot of money.
I am not exactly sure what the deep down reasons are why I am doing this and I have no idea where to start.
I have read the Mental game of poker but I am still a bit confused working it out.
I would love to hear some advice if anyone knows what I am talking about.

Can I call here or is it just spew as we are OOP and not double suited / capping our equity.

Thanks everything there made complete sense. I agree with the never bet folding I just mentioned it above to the last poster before reading you reply.
It is silly as I had his range on some wrap type hands so I have no idea what I was doing. Thanks for the advice.

He was playing very straight forward vs me up until this point and I chickened out on the flop as I am not used to playing deep and in 4bet pots so I was not sure what to do.
Is this a snap cbet/get it in on flop?

I have some other questions based on that but I will need to post them later when I am back from work.
Thanks for the link I will look at it tonight.

There is also many multiway pots and it feels as if balance doesn't matter at all as no one ever folds to 3bets and such.
Is my best strategy going to be only playing near premium type hands?
AAxx suited, Broadway wraps, high pocket pairs with suits/connecters and double suited wraps with 1 gap max?
Is there even any reason to play hands like A456, 6644, 7643, AKQ7 all singled suited atleast and so on (apart from the button). I find I am playing a lot of 3 broadway type hands with a dangler and 3 suits which is probably terrible? ie. KJT3sss
I just realized I am breakeven after my last 15k hands (many buyins below ev) and maybe I am playing too wide a range when most of the pool are fishy players and poor regs.
My stats range from 27/20 to 24/20.
Is there any material out there that targets how to play the microstakes vs a lot of fish for PLO?
The hand ranges still confuse me.

I did jam but I knew it was really really dumb and he showed JJ.
I have no idea why I checked the turn, when I was converting the hand I felt a little sick seeing that!
Thanks for a great reply.

Is this a clear raise for value?
or is this always a nutted type hand like KKxx JJxx?
"folding might be the biggest factor separating winning players from fish"
I really needed to hear that - It's something I realized once before but neglected in recent times, thank you.
