All I know about villain is a reg. But I hate the way I played this hand. For many reasons. He doesn't have too many bluffs in his range when betting the turn. My outs are severly tainted. He's very likely to jam the river with any bluff hands he bet on the turn. He shouldn't be value betting worse. Etc.
What I think I can take away from my play, though, is that my range construction for check/calling on a board like this is a bit off and likely exploitable. While I choose to check/call some strong hands like top set or overpairs on dry boards, I don't choose to do so on strongly coordinated boards like this which I think is ok and likely best. I do think having a checkraise with those nutted hands as well as strong draws will help decrease the frequency of villain stabbing at the flop when checked to but I'm coming to the (perhaps very late?) realization that it's going to be tough and possibly even bad to have a check/call range on a board such as this one.
So for the future on a board like this QJ8cc in a 3bet pot against a rather unknown opponent, what a better play be to bet the flop with KQ/AQ and be done with the hand if called or can I even check/fold KQ against a reg that I haven't seen get out of line yet?

turn seems close vs this sizing and u may be able to find a c/f ott vs non spewers/spazztards
what do you do with qq and jj that flopped sets on this board
QQ/JJ I normally cbet this board with with the occassional checkraise.
fun hand....bump for more input imo. paging sauce pls
I'm C-betting BB vs BTN for sure.
All I can think about when seeing this flop is Era7er on my left shoulder whispering softly into my ear "This hand is a 1-2 street value hand" and moving his hand over mine on the mouse to check.
Perhaps, since the board has a bunch of draws, it's best to take the 1-2 streets early on in the hand but I still would be clueless even on blank rivers if the board ran out like this and I was called on the flop and turn....
IDK, I never played poker thinking this way.
Still on this spot ranges are quite wider than if you were in other relative positions, which is why I'd usually bet. But obv opponent dependent.
such a sick hand imo, i typed a wall of text, but im not that good so id rather chill and wait 2 see what other ppl are gonna say, mostly something about him having so many strong hands here that checking on the flop leaves his range prty weak
89BB deep eff. BTN is getting in QQ, JJ pre and folding 9To. His Valuerange on the river is 3 Combos 9Ts, 2 Combos 89s and maybe some Combos QJ (not sure since you could play AA, KK this way). Even if he is jamming every QJ Combo for Value he has only 8 Valuecombos in total sice you´re blocking QJ. If he is Bluffing more than 4 Combos here, you have a Call. ATcc, KThh an some A high flushdraws are more than enough to call here.
I think it's also reasonable to include some combos of hands like Q8s, J8s, 88, K9s, A9s, 97s
Hand looks fine to me. But if x/c ranges are weak then I can see how it's uncomfortable because you'll never be getting to showdown.
I'd cbet the flop 10-15% (KK's, JJ's and some bluffs) and have a very slim x/r range. I don't think it's going to work out well having a larger cbet range or a wide a x/r range when hero is smashed in equity and equity distrubition.
Bluffs he could bet the turn with: fd's, gs's a9s, k9s, 97s, oesd's AT, KT. Plenty wide enough to call KQ.
On the river, obviously he won't be betting worse, but if he's likely to bluff any hands he bet the turn with (I don't understand why people think this?!) then it would be a profitable call with any Qx. But assuming he doesn't, there'd be plenty of better hands to call the river with. However would still need to call about 50% with Qx hands.
Which Hands are better to call with on the River except QJ and QT?
QQ, AA, TT, 99, AK
