NL600 I Played This Hand Bad

SB: $216 (36 bb)
Hero (BB): $600 (100 bb)
CO: $687.50 (114.6 bb)
BTN: $532.50 (88.8 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with Qd Kd
CO folds, BTN raises to $12, SB folds, Hero raises to $45, BTN calls $33

Flop: ($93) Qc 8c Js (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $52, Hero calls $52

Turn: ($197) 8h (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $128, Hero calls $128

River: ($453) Ts (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $307.50 and is all-in, Hero folds

All I know about villain is a reg. But I hate the way I played this hand. For many reasons. He doesn't have too many bluffs in his range when betting the turn. My outs are severly tainted. He's very likely to jam the river with any bluff hands he bet on the turn. He shouldn't be value betting worse. Etc.

What I think I can take away from my play, though, is that my range construction for check/calling on a board like this is a bit off and likely exploitable. While I choose to check/call some strong hands like top set or overpairs on dry boards, I don't choose to do so on strongly coordinated boards like this which I think is ok and likely best. I do think having a checkraise with those nutted hands as well as strong draws will help decrease the frequency of villain stabbing at the flop when checked to but I'm coming to the (perhaps very late?) realization that it's going to be tough and possibly even bad to have a check/call range on a board such as this one.

So for the future on a board like this QJ8cc in a 3bet pot against a rather unknown opponent, what a better play be to bet the flop with KQ/AQ and be done with the hand if called or can I even check/fold KQ against a reg that I haven't seen get out of line yet?
