Converting HH analysis skill into gameplay $
I always seem to find myself making pretty large mistakes in hands during play that are super obvious to me when I review hands. My ability to analyze HHs and have insight and think things through, even after years of play, seems to not translate that well into my actual game.
Obviously, everyone experiences this to an extent since its much easier to look at a HH and pick apart a range than it is to do under pressure with a time constraint. Has anyone felt like they have been successful at finding better ways of integrating their learning and translating it to in-game insight?
This hand, for example (I wasn't tilted here that I can tell):
Villain 36/6 over 16 hands, hasn't 3bet yet.
Hero (CO): 115 BB
BTN: 147.1 BB
SB: 91 BB
BB: 100 BB
SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB
Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has Ks Ad
Hero raises to 3 BB, BTN raises to 9 BB, SB calls 8.5 BB, fold, Hero raises to 23 BB, fold, SB calls 14 BB
Flop : (56 BB, 2 players) 7d 3s Th
SB checks, Hero bets 92 BB and is all-in, SB calls 68 BB and is all-in
Turn : (192 BB, 2 players) 9s
River : (192 BB, 2 players) 4s
As soon as I looked at this hand this morning, my mind put villain on a pre range of TT-QQ, AJs+, AQ+ and some slowplayed KK+ and smaller PPs. Where is the disconnect that had me shove in-game against that range?

Maybe you are playing too many tables at the same time or you aren't paying total attention to your game. I would check OTF and maybe calling one street depending on the size. You missed the flop against a fish is not a big deal, it happens, just don't get fancy and gamble your stack without equity. This guy might even call 22 here because your hand looks bluffy. Sorry for saying this, but this is how some fish play, if they missed the flop they bet big to get folds. Also, his calling range might be larger than that, given the fact that he is playing too passive so don't let the results influence your analysis.
Story of my life, actually. :D
I don't even want to know how many stacks I've spewed off in this exact scenario (not paying enough attention/letting emotions get in the way).
I would cut down on the amount of tables, play shorter sessions, have a warm up routine. I recently took up meditation and it's been of a tremendous help so far.
Less tables. I dont even think the flop shove is bad, i mean if he shoves pre, you get it in anyways, maybe he folds the same hand and you should have about 24 EQ still.
" i mean if he shoves pre, you get it in anyways"
Terrible argument imo :(
What else to do with ak, always 4bet ak and when called x/fold any flop that doesnt contain a king or an ace while haveing invested 25% of your stack while your outs are live often enough?
Against this range you actually have 45% EQ OTF.
I think 4bet shoving is an option preflop, because there is already a lot of money in the pot and we're not particularly happy to get called when we 4bet small, or 5bet shoved. It's not like we induce them to shove worse hands by 4betting small. We look strong anyway, so I we might aswell shove ourselves. The only problem is balance, if we 4bet shove AK always and 4bet smaller with AA, it is easy for villain to play versus us. But this is not a big problem, especially if you play zoom, because it takes a lot of time for them to figure it out, and they might not even pay that much attention, especially at lower stakes, because there are a lot of players and having reads is pretty hard. We also remove bluffs from our range when we shove, but realistically, I would not bluff very often versus a 3bet and a coldcall anyway.
As played, I would either bet small or check. Shoving is just a lazy option. It is +ev to shove, but so is limping with AA.
I like 4b shoving. I think it's the best option here.
Other option I think is to 4bet much bigger so that we can shove flops like this vs SB.
guys, the hand analysis was not the point of the Crimes' post.
Im sure analysing any hand won't be bad thing.
My tips are:
-Every time you feel like you are autopiloting explain out loud every decision you make like you would be making video of your game . When you notice that tables goes to timebank all the time when you have to argue your decision to yourself
->Play less tables.
