Simple Question On "R"
I think that Lefort's idea of weighting pot odds by equity realization is very useful, but I'm not sure which equity R actually refers to. If we decide to call a hand from the BB vs Btn raise, then is the R of our hand the "effective" equity in the pot that we create pre-flop by calling? I suppose that R is a measure of how much of the pre-flop pot that we realize?

I suppose that R is a measure of how much of the pre-flop pot that we realize? I haven't watched Lefort's videos, but I've always seen R being used as the percentage of the preflop equity we can realize pos-flop.
I think it's generally defined as follows:
If we were to checkdown our EV would be: EV = Pot*equity
If we don't checkdown, the hand has some other EV (which we can't calculate). We then define R so that: EV = Pot*equity*R (generally R will be >1 for hands that make a lot of strong value hands, <1 for hands that "play worse" and make a lot of bluff catchier hands).
It's a great idea, the problem there is no way to actually calculate an R value for any hand and each hand has a different R value (probably)
So you're saying that R > 1 ==> Post-Flop EV > 0? Post-flop EV would be something like:
(Amt Won Post-Flop)*(Percent Won) - Cost of Open
Well, you can roughly calculate R by doing a CREV sim, and by doing lots of them you develop the skill of seeing a spot and being like 'ok my equity in this spot is x, but it's 97dd oop on 874cc so my R is something like 0.6 and therefore I don't have odds to call' etc.
