I think checking the flop is fine. If stacks were deeper, I would like a lead more often.

I also agree with others that overbetting the river seems like a good line to take. You really good a pretty good board run-out for your hand.

I don't know if a fish is betting 3 streets though with just 9x. I still think it's a call because he doesn't have enough 4x combos to justify a fold, but it is a weird spot and I would expect to lose quite often.

With these stack sizes, I don't think you should shove preflop. If you 3b, I think the money is going to get in preflop quite often (which is of course fine).

I don't think flatting the preflop raise and then check-shoving the flop is a bad line either.

I think you are over-thinking this spot for live poker, even at the $5/T level. Checking AA/KK here for balance would be horrible. You are going to miss so much value when he has a pocket pair.

If you check the flop, then it is clear check/fold spot I think.

But I would c-bet the flop and double barrel good turn cards against this particular villain.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I will have to go back and check the HH to see why I did a $1 preflop. Sometimes things are lost in the conversion from Bovada. I typically open 2x from the button and 3x plus an x for each limper from other positions. This is a carryover from live poker and I am not 100% it is correct.

I do agree that my sizing on the turn is too small if I elect to bet. I am on the fence about betting or checking here. Since it is Bovada and the general population of the play is worse, I think it should probably be a bet. He can still have worse Kx hands in his range as well as the OESD.

I think it is a pretty clear check/give-up spot. You are going to get peeled by all sorts of combos and be left OOP on the turn. There are a lot of cards you can double including some for value but you are going to need to get it HU by then. I am not sure how likely that is.

Absolutely. Live poker is super profitable and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. You just have to make adjustments based on the play of the population of live poker.

This is assuming that the rake is not something crazy.

There is really no need to balance your ranges in this sort of format. You pretty much hit the nail on the head and that ABC poker is the way to go for now. Once you get more experience with live poker and move up in stakes, you will find more spots were advanced poker is more relevant.

For now, just focus on exploiting your opponents to the max.

With 88 in this situation, I would probably just check behind and call a river bet on most cards. You do have showdown value and I don't think he will call your bet with many hands that you can beat. He is probably x/f 55.

If we floated the flop with a hand like Ah9x, then I would be more inclined to bet because he will occasionally show up with hands that we can make fold and that we can't beat at showdown.

The either/or principal applies well in these spots I think. It is a good spot for a bluff, so it is not a good spot to get value with hands like 88.

Why on earth is this not available for essential subscribers, most of which are are probably rec players and thus have jobs that they can watch videos at. This makes no sense.

At least give us the option to pay a few more bucks a month to be able to download these videos.
