I like a check/call given that many straight draws have missed. I would guess that villain bets flush draws on the flop and you don´t lose a lot of value against Qx type of hands.

I like your play before and on the flop as well as your turn raise, but folding on the river is mandatory. He would have to turn a set into a bluff for you to be good there and I don´t think anybody will do that at PLO2. This is a flush almost always. The fact that villain made a very loose value shove and was in fact good just goes to show that your call on the river is way to loose.
