Yes, I agree, the check raise was a bad play.  I think in any semi-normal poker game your analysis is spot on, but at Commerce the bad players seem to play any cards for any raise pre, but they don't usually have the heart to bet, let alone raise, without a fairly good connect, usually being the key word.

In this case, Player 1 did lead out as he had bottom 2, but yes he could have been taking a stab and that's why I check-raised.  If I bet, Player 1 raises and player 2 goes all in, there's more of a case for folding.

I have been trying to perfect a low-risk game and since the action is so great at Commerce, I'd like to stay away from marginal spots that cost my stack, simply because people are just giving their chips away.

Good point.  Bad check.  If I bet out get raised then re-raised it's an easier spot to lay it down or not, but at least I have a better idea of where I am on the hand.

Thanks for the quick reply.  Agree on first two hands, but I have been giving hand three a lot of thought and being that it is Commerce and the action is filthy I think 3 is a reluctantly fold.  A larger bet size pre-fold would have been better, but I don't think it changes my situation post flop much.  Even though these players are bad.  Bad player #1 is leading out into another player who has never folded in the last 3 hours.   It's quite weak to fold top pair top kicker, but I'm in a very vulnerable spot and there are just so many other ways to collect chips against these bad players.  I feel like I can make a rock fold here and save my stack.  Here's how the hands played out--

Hand #1 I push he folds AK.

Hand #2 I push and he calls with Aces. Happens.  I agree that pushing was the right move here.

Hand #3 I check raise (280) Bad player 1 goes all in and I call.  He has 6/5 off and stacks me. The other guy had A/10.

Post | sharpreef posted in NLHE: Back to grinding at Commerce

I put all my money into an independent film so I'm back to grinding at Commerce for a living.  It's been a few years since I've played for a living, but the games are still juicy and I've gone from basically nothing to 6k on the roll in the last 3 months.  I'm averaging a little under 50 an hour.  I've been mixing in 300-500 (5/5 blinds) in with the 200 game.  These hands are from 300-500.  I just want a clear perspective on these hands as these type of situations have been coming up a lot:

Hand #1 600 behind 88 on button with 2 limpers.  I make it 35.  BB raises to 80 total with 400 behind. Limpers fold.  This guy has min raised me 3 times in the past hour.  I call. Flop 8 9 J (2 spades) I don't have a spade. BB raiser bets out $75.  How do you play it?

Hand #2 750 behind on button with AK vs 2 limpers.  I make it 35.  BB same guy as before raises again to 80 total with 300 now behind. How do you play it?

Hand #3 I have 750 behind with AK in BB with 2 limpers who are very poor players who call everything.  I make it $45 both call.  Flop A 5 6 (rainbow)  I check bad player #1 (1000+ behind) bets 75.  Bad player #2 goes all in for about $100 more. How do you play it?
