I had the same struggles when I started playing online at the micro stakes. My best advice to you is don't do anything fancy! You only need to play the game straight up and bluff as little as possible. I agree with the other 2 posters, smaller fields and lower GTD's yield less luck factor and allows more skill-based games. Big key is to adjust to the players' game on your table and watch for tendencies. 10% of the field are bluffy, 10% of the other players are stupid bluffy, the other 60% is a bunch of passive or very loose players, and the final 10-20% are players like you trying to score and really grind. If you're trying to be complex as if playing high stakes or like the pros you see on TV ... don't! You really don't need to worry about any complex strategies as this stage at all and that's where a lot of micro stakes players get it wrong and lose a lot of the time. The same goes for micro stakes cash games. Stick to tried and true straight up poker tight aggressive and you'll see a vast improvement in your game and see more cashes and final tables. AKA K.I.S.S. method at the micro stakes for the win!
