Thanks for sharing, I tend to just flat with JJ and QQ preflop especially from an UTG raise. If the player was MP or CO I would feel more comfortable 3 betting because his opening range is a bit wider, Maybe I give too much respect to UTG preflop range but when I tend to 3bet with JJ or QQ I can find myself getting in trouble. I think take into the account he opened from UTG and use the power of position post flop.
This can also keep the pot small and you can raise the flop to kind of see where UTG is at. If you raise flop and he calls you can narrow his range to over pairs and some AK/AQ combos.
Also, something I have been trying to add to my game is to plan out those streets. When you call the flop, you need to be planning to call a turn bet as well. Take a second to think about how you're going to navigate the turn before you call a flop bet. Folding flop could be nitty but think if you are willing to call 3 streets with JJ and get the chips in.

Hi everyone,
I would love to hear how people judge their 4 bet sizing preflop. I have an example below and would love to hear if my sizing is too big and that is why he folded. Do you normally 4 bet your aces or do you just smooth call a 3 bet and trap with it?
PokerStars - $0.50 NL - Holdem - 9 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4: http://www.pokertracker.com
BTN: $112.69
SB: $107.78
BB: $51.59
UTG: $50.75
UTG+1: $50.00
MP: $69.76
MP+1: $52.00
MP+2: $50.00
Hero (CO): $60.49
SB posts SB $0.25, BB posts BB $0.50
Pre Flop: (pot: $0.75) Hero has Ad Ac
fold, fold, MP calls $0.50, fold, fold, Hero raises to $1.50, BTN raises to $5.75, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $15.00, fold
Hero wins $12.75
Is my sizing too big? Plus with everyone else folded it would just be heads up with CO, so should I just smooth call his 3bet and go heads up or was this 4 bet the right play?

I find myself spots in this alot, I like your raise on the flop to apply pressure and take control of the pot.
I personally would have checked back the turn and taken a free card. I think at this point the pot is big enough and I tend to notice that players at these stakes always have it, so just navigate turn more carefully. If he check raises you all in you're in a brutal spot.
Thanks for sharing, what was end result of the hand and did he show?
I think you call it off, Only hand I could think he has that beats is you J9. Given he is in the BB he got a good price to call with that hand.
I tend to find that big jams like this on the flop are semi bluffs, could have a JT with a backdoor flush or QQ, KK maybe even AK. Doesn't seem like a player who knows how to navigate flops and that makes me feel like he has QQ or KK and wants to take it down.
I think you call and if he has J9 its unfortunate but sometimes that's how poker is.
