I wrote this post 5 months ago when I was tilting after a pretty bad downswing......I have done a lot of those two things that you just mentioned since.

Sept. 26, 2014 | 9:48 a.m.

can you play on any poker sites from your country?

Sept. 21, 2014 | 7:51 p.m.

Title seems ridiculous.

Sept. 20, 2014 | 11:47 p.m.

I agree I with chaos, great video! I would too also like to see more hands where things didn't work out rather than hands where you just flop the nuts as these spots kind of just play themselves.

Makes sense to me, thanks Tyler.

Hey Tyler I know this is late but I am just discovering your videos and am living them so far.

At 2:00 you chose to call v.s 3bet, which like you said can go either way depending on the opponent. You decided to call because you wernt too familiar with the other players, and my question is: since I play on a site where all of the players are anonymous should I be flatting on this hand 100% of the time when I play zoom?

I don't know anything about bum hunting man I honestly just sit tables, and do my best to adjust. I leave if everyone is just playing like nits, and not putting any money to the pot but other than that I don't really have any advice in regards to that.

I made the switch to 200NL, I know its very likely that I will be making less money than I would at 100NL zoom but I think its going to be better for me overall when it comes to moving up in the future and improving my game. Im currently on a 9 buy-in DS at 200NL but thankfully  I have been running very good in MTTs and PLO, so it kind of erased my downswing in holdem which is nice lol. PLO is an amazing game, I know there is a ton of variance but the other players just make so many mistakes at small stakes.

I actually think I actually decided to drop zone all together. I am a bit tired of not being able to have reads, and play kind of a standard strategy. Hopefully, game selection and getting reads will make up for the volume at Zone!

I know this is late but incredible graph my man!

Betting seems to be the clear play, hands that are checking the river that want to x/r and get called would have just value bet river in the first place. Bet 1/3rd and get value from KK,AX

Hey Tonic1223 I don't really see an issue with adding some of the money that you've made away from the tables if you are winning player. If you are strict enough with your bankroll management it doesn't really matter because you will probably never play with that money anyways.....its more of just a safety net.

At the same time I don't think you should be rushing through the limits if this is your first time grinding through the stakes. Make sure that you can thoroughly beat each stake before moving up. I can't really answer the second part of your question well, because it is different for everyone. But for me my bankroll is just the current money that I have. If I need new shoes, or eat I take money from my bankroll. That being said I play enough poker now where I can do that, and make it up in poker in no time. If you are just starting I highly recommend keeping it separate because your progression should be slow and steady, and if your constantly spending your roll it won't really go up. If you have very solid BR management, don't tilt, and move down as you should you shouldn't ever go "busto." It happens when people play in games where they shouldn't and lose, and then try to win it back by playing to high.

I assume as pros move up and bigger money goes in and out of their hands, they can just put 10k into retirement funds, or invest a few buyins that will make them a ton of money rather than sitting in their poker bankroll. But as for now keep it simple, keep it separate, and grind through it man.

Thanks man i think your right....Im going back and forth on weather or not I should actually drop 100NL Zone all together because eventually I am going to have to anyway because it is the highest level of zone that they offer. Next time I move up, at 400NL I will have to play 4 tables of it with no zone because my hourly will clearly be higher there than 100NL.

Yeah I understand that is the case for regular tables! But when playing zoom tables win rates are substantially higher because you are seeing 5X the amount of hands as a regular table. Its not as black and white as that. If it was I wouldn't be asking the question. By my calculations of playing zone and regular 100NL. Zone is roughly 3 times more profitable than regular 100NL. That being said it is more profitable than 200NL even if I lost 0% of my win rate while moving up. I am specifically asking about 50NL Zone v.s 200NL regular. If you consider everything that I said, it will change the typical answer which is to obviously just move up. Do you understand my question a bit more?

Right but my point is I don't think moving up to 200NL is helping my win rate! I think at 100NL Zoom I can have a better win rate than I can have at 200NL regular. Now the real question is weather that is true or not for 50NL.

Hey guys I have been grinding and beating Zone 100NL for a few months now combined with two 50NL Zone tables. I would play 4 tables of 100NL Zone if Bovada if they allowed it, but since they don't have been stuck with this option.

Now that I feel ready skill, and bankroll wise, to play 200NL I am questioning if I should. They do not have a zone option, so no doubt my win rate will be better at 100NL Zone than 200NL regular. So two of my tables will remain 100NL Zone, but what should I do with the other two tables???

Do you guys think grinding 50NL zone where my win rate should be around half of what it is at 100NL Zone is better than playing 200NL regular?

Here is my 100NL Zone graph is the past few months, and my overall graph for this year is posted below in the comment section.

Right now it still up in the air, but some of the places I had in mind were: Germany, Mexico, Canada, or malta. Honestly I still have some research to do before I fully decide :)

Post | Max Lober posted in Chatter: July Update.....And future plans.

Hey guys I just finished a great month at the tables. I moved back to 6-max 100NL zoom on bovada, and my oh my I ran good. I played my best month poker so far. Making folds and being right makes me so happy. I decided this month to try to be the San Antonio Spurs of poker. My plan was to to do all the little things right, and man do they add up. Every time I knew I was beat I folded, every time i thought I could get squeeze with good blockers I went for it. I just listened to that part of me that always knows what the right decision is. In the past I had trouble listening, like calling in spots I know I am beat.

I am planning to move out of the country 13 months from now when I turn 22. I want to be playing NL1k, and I am currently playing full time. I know if I put in the work it is acheivable. Thanks everyone here, especially Phil, Simon, and James Hudson. You 3 have improved my NL game so much so thanks.

My graph since feb. this year is posted below in comments.

Everyone is different some peoples brains are wired in such a way that afters break they come back sharper and ready to go. You and me however, have it different. When I take a day off and come back I feel disconnected slightly and my brain needs to slowly warmup to poker mode. I can't just jump right into it. Fortunately I have found a solution. Before you start your session after your day off watch a poker video. It's very important to do this to get your mind into poker thinking mode. It helps a lot!

What makes you so sure a downswing is around the corner? Who knows maybe you're on your way earning the most money you have won in a single day. The best help I can give is to say is if you are a winning player, and you are playing well in a game, that means someone is losing. Someone is playing bad, getting unlucky, or maybe both. It is a huge leak to be "locking up" your wins. Think of it as a continuous session, not just individual ones. You play until you're done, or you no longer have the edge. Its foolish to quit when your edge is at its greatest, and play longer when you are in a tough game.

I am at the exact same point as you. I am hoping to move away from the states not this winter but next. I am turning 21 next month, and my original plan was to keep staking up my money until I turn 22 and then hopefully move either to vegas or to another country for a couple years just to experience life away from home a lithe, and play poker full-time. You should PM me, maybe things will lineup and we could become RIO housemates.
