I raise this flop donk every single time:

1) NFD has the equity to proceed no matter what happens.
2) Saves me from screwing up the turn if it goes Bet, Pot to me
3) Forces other players to rethink their hands and fold, potentially giving us much increased equity.

Comment | kahn commented on LHE Variance

I had a 1BB/100 winrate over a sample size of 2 millionish hands in one of my databases.

In said sample, I had just over a 1000BB downswing (these are BIG BETS, not BIG BLINDS, BBs being double the size of bbs).

I also had a 1600 big bet downswing. It tested my mental fortitude and made me question my skills in LHE.

However, I climbed out of the pit of despair and my graph reverted to the mean and I erased that enormous 1600+BB downswing in something like 50k hands or less via some much needed sun-running!

Some South American countries were added, but not via Bovada, nor Ignition. The LATAM countries are available via Bodog . com (Bodog . eu is only for Canadians, must use the .com version for LATAM).

Pokerstars, nor any other poker site, is altering their RNG to "induce action" during Covid, nor any other time.

This is fallacy.

This is the result of "Negativity Bias in poker". Look it up, you may learn something about how the brain works and tricks you into thinking there are patterns where there are none. Evolutionarily speaking, a negativity bias was a great trait to have as it taught us to avoid eating the mushrooms that killed Jack and Jill. But trying to discern complex patterns in statistical analysis with the human brain sans mathematics is folly.

Comment | kahn commented on PPPoker Query

For those who are curious, PPPoker is NOT a poker room, it is a software company / poker app.

There are various "clubs" on the app, hundreds, perhaps thousands of them. They share NOTHING in common other than they use the same software app.

So when you hear people say PPPoker games are good or that PPPoker sucks, you are not comparing apples to apples because each club has its own player pool, own cashier, own support, etc.

I personally do NOT recommend any of them for this reason and do NOT play on them personally.

I just wanted to say that I have active accounts on both Bovada and Ignition and on Bodog before that since the early 2000s.
I have played the highest stakes they offered for most of that time in both Fixed Limit Holdem and Pot Limit Omaha.
The games are not rigged. And if there is collusion, it is of a small enough level that it does not decrease my winrate such that it stands out, when compared to my winrate on ACR, Intertops, PokerStars, Party Poker, or any of the other dozens of sites I have played and won at over the decades.

4 pluss all ins and no AAxx hands? Are these games shallow in nature? Online, where I play, it'd be nuts to not see AAxx in a 4way all in scenario. I can't ever remember it happening tbh, though I'm sure it has at some point when I play.

Are you sure you were answering with regard to fixed limit holdem? Those types of winrates were barely possible in 2003, much less 201x!

To the OP, current winrates of > 1BB/100 are kickass. Game is tough now!

Comment | kahn commented on Bovada & BitCoin

It works just fine... until they find out you're transacting with gambling/poker sites. Then they shut your account down for good (you get to keep your coins). However, simply inserting an intermediary wallet, even an online one such as blockchain, will save you from a ban. Read here: http://www.runitonce.com/chatter/bovada-bitcoin/#comment-223015

Bovada (now Ignition) converts your bitcoin into USD the second you deposit. You play in USD. Then you withdraw bitcoin later at market prices. Inbetween you are not subject to bitcoin fluctuations. You are only subject to them while you hold bitcoin. And if you have a good deposit and withdrawal scheme in place, that could be as little as a few hours max.

You need to use an intermediary wallet inbetween Coinbase and poker/gambling sites since Coinbase doesn't support bitcoin transactions. Failure to use an intermediary will eventually result in your account being shut down. I recommend blockchain.info for ease of use.

It's not difficult or shady at all. It's rather easy. Here is a detailed guide for using bitcoin with online gambling.

Bovada is now Ignition, but yes, they definitely have withdrawals now.

You know, when you go to the website, they have a pop-up if it detects you are from a non-supported country. Thus, if you got banned and bankroll confiscated, you were attempting to circumvent the TOS. Naughty naughty!

A few things I learned while filing my claims:

1) You have to file a claim for each site, one claim does not cover all accounts.
2) If you had a prop account and a regular account at AP/UB/both, you have to file a sep claim for each account.
3) They extended the filing date to Petition for Remission Deadline to September 7, 2017
4) The website is absolutepokerclaims.com

The field is much smaller. The field is smaller on every site other than PokerStars. The field is also easier than on every site other than PokerStars.

Now that PokerStars has virtually nothing for rewards, I expect that regs will leave and it will become softer. However, I sincerely doubt that it will magically become on par with the game quality at other sites. Plus, other sites actually have rewards for their players.

AmayaStars is an abomination and has gone very far away from PokerStars original mandate and mission statement. It's sad to see.

I'm against the sharing of databases. I don't mind that one person, put in blood, sweat, tears, and tons of time to play and compile their own database. I don't mind that another person did the same. But this is a competitive game, if we combine their efforts by combining their databases, that is collusion in my mind. Keep the fruits of your own labor but using those of another is taking it too far.

July 30, 2017 | 1:28 p.m.

I'd recommend you to do a few things. Firstly, read lots of forums. 2+2, reddit /r/poker and /r/offshorepoker, wikia, etc. I'd also recommend that you watch some streams on Twitch.tv. You'll want to pick out a solid place to play as well. I'd then recommend testing your new skills with freerolls for a while so you can get the hang of things. Then make a deposit and start at the lowest possible stakes the site offers, often $2 or $5 max buy-in. Don't try to rush through the limits, take your time and really understand what you're doing, and why you're winning, before you move up.

I was going to say that the thread/software isn't updated anymore, but it looks like there has been some life breathed back into it lately. FWIW, a couple years ago I got ahold of one of the devs via Skype and he helped me fix up my 6card PLO HUD, for free! Was a really nice guy about it. I offered to tip him and he declined.

Here's the 2+2 thread.

Comment | kahn commented on LHE Variance

I can't imagine playing with such a low winrate. It would be torturous. I've averaged a little over 1BB/100 over the course of my LHE career. Higher back in the day and a little lower recently due to less game selection and tougher games.

Even with my winrate, I've gone over 200k hands breakeven! Had a max drawdown that hit -1600 big bets! I've had drawdowns of over 1000BBs 4 times. Now granted that is over the course of 14 years. And millions of hands sample size. But man, it is a brutal, brutal game at times. If your edge is so small, I'd suggest studying more and playing lower stakes until you improve your game/winrate!

July 30, 2017 | 1:58 a.m.

I'm folding here without reads. It's difficult not to be up against another AAxx hand here and if that's the case, your going to have less than 25% equity. Even in the rare cases where you're not up against another AAxx, I think the quality of the hands you're up against will yield a very small edge. The problem is the frequency with which you're not up against AA... which is too rate IMO.
