I'm not sure how aggressive and large your 2/5 normally is but i'd agree you should probably raise a bit larger pre flop. Where i play 15-20 is pretty standard in the 1/3 games and not uncommon to see 35-50 pre flop in our 2/5 games. I'd probably try to find a raise that only invites 1-2 callers. You'll find its much easier to make decisions playing someone heads up vs having 2-3 other people in the hand.
As far as his range goes thats more for you to decide. What kind of hands have you seen him show down when he's playing extremely aggressive? If he has been showing down a lot of single pair hands it makes sense to call and let him hang himself. If you see him doing that a lot with big draws then possibly just raise and get it in against a diamond draw. If he normally shows down 2 pair or better than its a pretty easy fold. In general on the button an experienced aggressive player could easily have anywhere between 35-50 percent range there. To be honest though if you have been letting him bully you and are folding to a lot of 3-bets than its likely he has a worse ace or the same hand and knows you wont stick it in without having at least 2 pair. That being said calling down isn't horrible. If you hadn't been folding to his aggressiveness so much id say its pretty easy to just find a fold and wait for a hand with more value against him. Both decisions have some merit but I think simply from knowing you are possibly just taking a shot at a bigger game and he sees you may be playing a little more scared by folding so much to him he could easily be pushing you around.
