Hi Ben,
In your opinion which game/format have the Pro's the smallest edge in general? Its been mentioned by Stevie444 (If i remember) that he believe it would be 6m 8-game.

It basically takes the actions with borderline hands that were slightly +EV into -EV so we need to generally tighten up in marginal spots.

To the above would smaller table cap not result in the better players sitting at higher stakes tables?

GL mate, look forward to future posts

GL mate, currently in the same pool as you see at the tables. Check out Janda's new book for studying.

Iam in, and I mean ALL in. I am at the perfect point in life to grasp this opportunity with both hands. Work on the submission today.

Good luck homie, I would advise purchasing The Grinders Manual by RIO coach Pete Clarke. It is THE definitive guide to 6-max poker from micro to small stakes.

i am the poker Bob. Engineer by day, all game degenerate at night, and i love it. 5 years in and countless deposits.

Airbourne, i get the feeling high stakes may be different in the fact that the player true IDs my be viewed at the tables for the rail birds and therefore the HH issue becomes a valid issue as Sauce mentions

View From A Rec:
I play on Stars for 2 very clear reasons -
1: fantastic software
2: number of players, ensuring pretty much there is alway a game i can jump into to burn off a few dollars.
Outside of this i never thought that i would care much for other issues but it pains me in recent years to see the reductions in the classic games (HUNL especially) and the push towards fast pace gamble games. Added to this the weirdness of the rake back system now that seems to get you next to nothing back.
The unavoidable fact is that the opponents will always get better, at a slower pace as time rolls on, but still on an upwards trajectory.Increasing the rake only has the effect of pushing out the pro and serious Recs BUT it still screws all Rec's as we haemorrhage money NOTICEABLY and end up in position where we fell we are being taken for a ride.
So heres my point, I play a skill game and i know i am losing but guess what? I want to pit my skills against everyone! serious Recs and Pros included. Like the coffin doggers in all the crappy casinos across the states, i play because i love the game and want to play in types of games that if i choose to, dedicate more time to studying could have and edge and make some money without having to get lucky on stupid spinning wheel.
On another point, one of the things that got me into poker at the very beginning was one day getting SNE, i wish we could have a site that could come close to reproducing this and selling the dream of earning a decent living from playing a game.
i am always going to play this game, this is my hobby and it makes me happy, so give me stable software, reasonable rake back so i can buy the odd tourney ticket and no bloody seating scrips and i will be a customer for a long time. higher rake just reduces overall player number i can play against and burns through my deposits.
side note: spread 8-game!

go up in stakes where they respect your raises!

So if you can play 4 zoom tables as a slight winner surely you could play 8 tables of zoom for hours and still be a winner?...not really...at all..go get my bankroll and a box of matches.
As can be garnered form the above i have been attempting to play 8 tables of zoom and my green line took a nose dive but upside being i am crushing the volume goals :-)
Even though i am only a small way through November it occurs to me that i don't or never have had any creeping thought that the novelty of being at the tables wears thin with me, like never. I truly would be in my absolute element if i had the freedom to play 12hrs a day 7 days week, and thinking this way must mean i am a little broken in the head? no sure if this statement is true because i play for a hobby or i really could find contentment in spending an extreme amount of time essentially playing a game.
does anyone else feel the same? do you play as a hobby but sometime get bored ??
Nov. 5, 2017 | 5:28 p.m.
Yeah i can imagine this to be very true. the transition from hobby to means of income is not to treated lightly. I have given this a lot of thought as fantasising about grinding the tables day in day out can end up being a real grind especially when income is not guaranteed and you turn up just to give money away to your opponents.
But with this ever in my mind i still would give anything to have the abiltiy to make money playing the game i love and to say i gave it my all.

A little snippet on my self, UK based data centre engineer with a deep love of the game. been playing for around 4 years mostly on Stars zoom table anywhere from 2nl up to 100nl. The past year or so i have really started to get down to the grind stone with the studying now i have completed my electrical HNC. Most of my study has been been using both the Janda books and the excellent Grinders Manual.
the past 2 months i decided to review my game from the ground up making sure that the foundations of my theory are solid. this consists of adjusting pre-flop ranges (opening and calling) and hand writing the math out on why we call/raise with certain hands and how we adjust to the general population starting to tighten up.
pre-flop works on the face of it would appear to be relatively straight forward but when really peeling back the layers I find that it can be very complex especially in squeeze situations and ranging correctly on the flop for BTN/Blind play.
i feel the pre-flop work will still take me another 100 hrs or so to get cemented to my unconscious competence and to where i am happy with the 'WHY?' of most situations.

Good bit of volume put in yesterday so now starting to get ahead of the curve. Hopefully crush the 100k hand and have a few days spare.
Played around with my graph and followed 4-Stars advice but cannot get it to read the days correctly. Think the issue is down to the time stamps on the HH as i started the challenge in the UK at 5:30 but it they may be stamped with another time zone reference and shows as being played on the 31 oct. anyhow its only the difference of ~890 hands so will make sure to do over this so hand audit is correct
for the application.

yeah, my bad, the chart takes into account the 500 hands i did this morning. didn't see that first off cheers for the heads up dude.
Nov. 2, 2017 | 3:14 p.m.
Day one in the books with ~5.2k hand booked at a less than impressive +14bb/100. Day time sessions went pretty well but in the evening when the brain is a little fatigued and calling ranges start to open up things start to level off. back to the grind gents.
Nov. 2, 2017 | 1:48 p.m.
So woke up 04:40 like a little kid on Christmas morning ready to crack on with the grind at 05:30 at work. quick session of 837 hands until another 1hr lunch grind. hopefully get some extra in as boss just called in sick so grind station open all day :-)
wonder if anyone else has this issue: when graphing my sessions most take the same shape!? a small up tick followed by a dip before charted upwards. is this evidence of not preping before a session or a delay reaching some sort of flow state?
Nov. 1, 2017 | 8:11 a.m.
good luck fella, now subbed. will follow closely. Just out of interest with increase in volume will potentially tighten up ranges to reduce thin value decision points?
Nov. 1, 2017 | 8:02 a.m.
Hi 4-Star! Due to the sheer number of hands and tiny bankroll I will be down at 2nl with my boy Arty-McFly. Took a few trial runs of 1+ hrs of 4 tables but find my A-game is seldomly present so stick to stakes where C/B game will be sufficient. Truly thank you for the follow, just being accountable to a single other persons interest motivates me even more.

In life we have very few transient moments where great opportunity is presented to us.
These are a chance to walk a path laid out in front of us where possibilities for advancement are almost endless.
Nick Howard's CFP contract is without doubt one such rare occasion. This CFP program offers someone willing to put in the effort a chance to achieve their true poker potential and Mastery of NLHE. This person is most definitely me and i will prove over the coming weeks.
Within this thread I will document my journey to application via the 100k hand challenge and then to its final destination.
The first part of the task is to complete 100k hands between the 1st Nov till the 30th Nov which I will undertake on the PokerStars Zoom tables. I will endeavour to post everyday for Nov even if only to drop a quick note on how my session went. I want to post as many graphs as possible for the visuals and will flesh out more on myself and my off table prep via these posts as well.
Not sure if anyone will read this thread but it will be here as accountability to myself.

yeah Janda's book is very well written, great focus on general 'poker' concepts and thinking modes that can be implemented in many games. To your points on mastering single concepts at at time - it is so, so important. Information overload is such an issue that you can just be spinning your wheels for such a long time thinking you have understood a concept but trying to use it in game only to find its not mastered at all (classic example - RFE).
Reviewing the player pool and playing against that, rather than some badly thought out perfect GTO opponent is very EV+. look what the pools 4bets, defends c-bets etc and you will find in almost every case is skewed towards value rather balancing correctly with bluffs. from these reference points you can tweek so much of your game that your gaining accumulative EV all over place. (Took 1.1m hands and watching Nick Howard for me to figure this out.)

First, all very helpful and in line with Janda's new book.

This really resonated with me and got me to take a good look at my negative background dialog.
there is a faint but constant voice in the back of your your mind that can be spewy = '' Ah f**k it gamble!"
or conservative = "No, No stay safe don't lose what we got"
both of which is is my mind short cutting TRUE analysis of the situation.
It remind me of an comment made by Ivey once when asked why he was so good, and he just said:
"I really don't care about the money when playing"
Maybe thats is one of his powers, true disassociation of gain and loss whilst at the felt and just processing to the best of your ability..

I as a rec player who plays every day I would like to put a few point in:
As a microstakes player I as a rule don't really care about the rake in my games and believe this is the general consensus of the pool but I do like a decent reward program in the form of freerolls and tourne tickets.
If we could possibly have high stakes games and the posibiltiy of pro level RB deal, just so the tenuous dream of becoming pro is possible.
Lastly can we consider great games such as 2-7 TD and maybe 8 game, as a hobbiest I loves these and for variation to keep the interest.
Thank you Phill I will now be a RIO net depositer.
Sept. 1, 2016 | 9:29 a.m.
Setting up the home game is pretty straight forward, if we could get a RIO administrator to simply create a club via the stars client under More... - 'Create a Poker Club'.
When completed, a name and invitation code will need to be created and this code in turn could be e-mailed out to all members to log in to allow exclusive access.
Once all is set up a unique or repeating tournament of different buy-ins, structure and currency can be set easily for members - this could be on a monthly basis say, via the suggestions in a dedicated thread.
My idea would be to keep thing simple, create the club, create a thread announcing it and make 2 (to allow for the different time zones) play money tournies within a couple of weeks and see what grows from this.
The worst that we get is a couple of play money tournies that allow us discuss interesting spots, but we could end up with a fantastic learning tool.
Just a last point - i think the the real game changer would be the elite/pro's on a cash game table within the club live streaming whilst focusing on specific theories/ideas in study group set up...some how.....just thinking aloud.
What BB stacks can you adjust too? I see 100 and 50, any more?
