From OP, looks like villain is never bluffing here, just using a really wide range for LRR.

If villain does this 77+, AQ+, then we're about 40% vs his range and we're OOP.

If we could get him to fold out a significant portion of his range, we could think about 4betting, but we've seen him call off 140bb with 77-JJ, so I don't think it's a good assumption that he reliably folds these.

Agree to be cautious and set aside a few buy ins in advance to take a shot. 20bi is probably the absolute min you can be comfortable with in live games where you can have a huge edge. (I'm assuming you are not playing 100% full time and this is not your life roll)

You need to be evaluating the games to see whether you think your overall winrate goes up enough to justify the extra variance from playing against more good players. GL!

Btw, very sorry to hear about this.  Hope you can get back in the game.  Live games are very fragile. Got uninvited from a great private game myself a while back that plays bigger than any casinos near me will spread. When you find a great game, nothing is more important than ensuring that you stay in the game. Too bad we both had to learn the hard way.
