That's kinda what I thought, but it seems unlikely the V has one pair here. I guess its just one of those PLO spots gone wrong. Tried to isolate V2, and did not get it through. How do we consider the math of PLO vs. the likely putting our last $190 in with likely something like 33% equity (hopefully). So we put the $190 in with 33%, returning us likely $63 on average. Then the $380 in the pot yields us the same 33% average, so we are getting back like $126, so our equity is even. Why call then? Is it proper PLO theory, Gambol, Gambol, or what?

Hero on the Button, effective about $250
V1 is not a great PLO player, to loose always, not so positionally aware, covers hero
V2 is good player, not great PLO, but creative- not such a big deal as V2 is only about $110 deep.

1/2 w $5 straddle on - V2 raise to $13, 3 callers, Hero A♦ A♠ 3♠ 3♣ pots to $58 i think on button. V1 cold flats out of SB, V2 calls

Pot $181 (or about that).
Flop 7♥ 8♠ Q♦

V1, SB, pots - V2 folds - Hero?

is this not a raise?

shouldn't we be checking our J high flush on the turn to get one street on the river if the board does not change and because our made hand is marginal? Keep smaller flushes in, keep bluffs in, and then maybe get a street of value on the river if it gets checked through the turn?

why did you not raise the flop or turn?

if you think the Button is squeezing lite, you can try a 3 bet here being double suited, blocking an ace. The pair is actually a detriment in this hand but still a decent 3 betting hand. The problem with calling is unless you make quads you are playing OOP to a whale who does not fold meaning you must showdown a winner, and a presumably thinking button. 3 bet or fold here IMO.

Comment | Dusty Atherton commented on hero fold flop?

you should be calling this deep pre flop for sure. Just find a fold on the river unless the V bets extremely small. I like the pre flop, flop and turn action.

I like your original thinking about playing the hand (specifically MTT) careful for set value being OOP. The limp - reraise will not accomplish that. I would rather start building a pot with a pre flop raise, then pay fit or fold vs. all the callers. This not only preserves your stack better, but it allows you to get more than 1/3 your stack in if you get the chance to 4 bet, and you put less money in when you "miss".

Wondering what the micro/low stakes (or any for that matter) players are using at this time? Holdem Manager, Poker Tracker, something else?

Thanks

Why not raise the flop?

Do we think Axxx or KKxx, QQxx will call here, and to KKxx and QQxx even get to this river? We are really not getting value from anything by betting the river. We can decide to c/c or c/f but betting seems to accomplish nothing here?
