78s hand looks interesting for me. Against two regs sqz 78s looks good, because of this hand playability against their range and board coverage. As we can see at the end, he flat calls A6o, so he calls A7o, A8o too. That means a lot of offsuit combos that dominates us and we are playing a big pot against him. We can make him pay us off in a small pot anyway.
It's nice to have initiative and fold reg like ~2/3 of the time, but we don't win a lot doing a cbet against this guy, because, he has a lot of A in his range, we do need barrel a lot of turns. And I don't like the idea of bluffing the fish :))
My sqz range in this spot would be ATs+, 88+,JTs+, KJ+.
I would like to hear your opinion on that.

How did you see in replayer that Euro folded trip 9's, but you didn't see he bluffed you of A8? :-)

6:33, ATs hand, it's interesting that 89s is less playable than ATs in this spot, against two strong ranges. Having nut flush is good, but it gets ugly when A comes on flop in squeezed pot.
32:00 Q2s, You rep 33,44, and maybe 34s. And 99 is almost always a 3b. Your range looks more draws than value. Don't u think it's better to raise various turns ?

Hi guys, anybody wants to give an opinion how to play this hand?
http://www.boomplayer.com/en/poker-hands/Boom/15263363_6B2403B62F
- How we should play flop?
- If we play flop same way, how we should proceed on the turn?
Opponent never seen to me before, but I haven't seem him making mistakes before so we assume he's average regular player.
We asume his unlikely holding are sets, overpairs, straights and flushes should be hardly discounted because we asume that he might ch/raise flop decent amount of the time with those.
We asume his likely hands... Idk here, his sizing looks scary, but we don't know maybe he want to look stronger than he might be raising for this amount. Also J of clubs takes away good chunk of his flushes from Jc9c to KcJc and AcJc if he decided to ch/c the flop with that. So it leaves me thinking he might have a lot of Turned combo draws with Jx + club and even maybe he might go with some hands like JxKc or JxAc.
So any opinions on this hand? His range? If chaking/back is worse? And how we should play this?
Thanks for the answers!!

Jason, can you explain why bombing turn with A7 hand vs J8 vs ch/back and bombing river for pot is good strategy? I understand that we can make this bet size in that spot, but what we are expecting to get call from and how often they will call all in with worse? Wouldn't it be better to value bet 1/3 + 1/3 or so where we can be called more often?
Can you explain why 5bet w AJ for a min as a good strategy? And even w QQ? Aren't we giving opponet to good of a price to outflop us in huge pot? I mean QQ is way better to do it for a min, but still cant get why it's good, but AJ seems terrible on a lot of flops..

@15.45 79s hand. Is it really a good board to be cbetting?
Let's look at his PF calling range:
AKo (6), AKs (2), AQ (16), AJs (4) QQ(3), JJ-88 (21), it's like 52 combos (half of AK, QQ are taken out, because he can 4b those)
When the flop comes it's like ~40 combos which hits his range (backdoor FD, underpairs)
In practice, I feel that on K26 we don't have a lot of FE. And we will need to bet the turn to fold his all underpairs with our low EQ hand.

~35:02 why is this such a bad spot to 3bet jam? Is it because KJo is crushing his open raise range or to lower variance?
Btw, great video. :)

Hi, James.
You tend to squezze a lot but would you do that in micro - mid stakes where is plenty of fish? As i assume we want to play smaller pots against fish.
Great video, thanks in advance :)

Hi, Akira. Great video! :) Is it possible to get your hud?

1 question kinda out of topic kinda not...
Do we have to be balanced when we are exploiting our opponent (tendency to overcbet wide and weak ranges)?

Thanks for an answer Phil! Didn't find an option to re-reply to your answer above, might be a little leak in this website... :-)
So to clearify I'm voting for videos/video series/concept videos:
*Bluffcathing and hero calling especially turns and rivers;
*Hero folding vs double and tripple barrels;
*Bet sizing! Two street bet sizing, three street betsizing, when to pick which?
Bet sizing on shifting equities boards, etc. Maybe some overbetting. When it's better to size for full stack bets and when it's better to size for smaller/valueish sizing.
*Dealing with the check raises. (Good sample like you mentioned QT hand in this video, so would be interesting to see some hands and videos for spots like that) also rebluffing.
*Video about cbeting (or not cbeting) our mid-range hands like 2nd pairs, 2nd pocket pairs, maybe very weak top pairs, some not our strongest draws and bareling (or not bareling) those all hands on the turns. Would like to know some theory and/or reasons to help us choose how we wanna bet our hands for 3 streets of value or for 2 streets and how to pick which 2 streets will gives us most value or gives our opponent most chance to bluff.
*Video about multi-way pots!! There are much more multi-way pots in MTT's than in 6-Max cash games, so it drasticly affects our equities even with pretty strong hands like mid to strong top pairs, overpairs, lower two pairs and I never saw a good video which would be focused especialy on this topic before :-)
*And as mentioned above video about calling 3bets OOP... As you mentioned you like calling more instead of 4betting with some part of your range, so can you show examples, please? And how you aproach those spots with some strategy, lines and theory.
Kinda a lot of work is waiting for you, huh? :-) Maybe some other coaches can do something from this list if you not going to do them all. But more MTT theory videos are very very welcome in Run It Once! Also it's welcome in any format as you asked above. It's welcome in concept videos and it's welcome in pure Hand History review format video.

Good video Phil. I been strugling in this area a lot, because I like bluff raising too, but I don't like bluff raising where seems I'm not repping a ton of value hands. But you where still raising kinda spots where you weren't repping a lot and it worked. It seems in shallower stack poker aggression can overtake that anyway and also opponent cbeting ranges are way way too wide. So can you reply me with some reasons why we can raise not repping a ton?
Can you do a series about folding? Because I'm strugling in that area too. Seems I'm hero calling too much. It's not that I'm a calling station, but I think I have a leak in my head which makes me think that my opponents are bluffing too much, so when I'm facing a bet I'm looking for a hands he can bluff in the spot with and finding them too often I think so paying of too often too. So would be nice to see a video series about mediocre to good hands (top pairs, lower two pairs, maybe sets, maybe some second pair type hands) which you folded later on in the hand and give us some reasons and math when we should fold. Would be thankfull too you very much for this type of video! :-)
And also video series about calling 3bets and playing those pots, especially OOP would be very interesting too.
P. S. Don't get lazy and don't make us wait very long for next MTT video, please!!!!! :-P

Hi, great video. I wanted to ask how do you calculate how much % do u need pre flop?
Feb. 14, 2015 | 7:07 p.m.
Can you explain wider about As8s check back on the turn around 25:00? Seems ok spot to check/back but I find many reasons to bet that too. But you told that's "very easy check back" so can you explain your reasons for why not bet it there? Or why betting is bad there?
Isn't your cold 4betting size too big? Seems even 8300-8700 would make same thing, cause he is going with his hand or not. Don't think he will flat anything there, so why you made it so big?

Q for Jakoon @ about 10th minute:
That spot with AA on the Button where we were talking about advantages of flating vs 3beting. If we had KK there is there everything same or for Kings you have much different options and reasons?
Q No. 2:
What would you both do in QQ hand with AK, JJ-99 vs specific villain?
Thanks for answers

I don't understand why you replaying second time the hand in HM instead of playing it in recorder? You wasting a lot of time :-)

Ty for your respond Mr. Sulsky (-:
But it would be very great if you make a short 5-10 minute video (like "Quickie"'s which have Card Runners) and would show and teach it once and for all how it's done. I'm talking about first aproach also you could do the second in same vid. I know for cash gamers this all might be known, but for some MTT'iers who don't have good coaches and friends in poker but willing to improve our games it would be very helpfull and apreciated.
What I want to know is that process of how can I find my defend (or any other spot) is profitable. Should I start with what odds I'm getting so I have to defend a percentage of my range or should I think what price is stealer (Vicenfish in the spot) is getting on his steal so I or I + other players have to defend to prevent him from making money? How does Q6 in the spot holds looking trough the profitness of all hands I'm defending? And also what you comented about that "R" stuff you could talk about little wider. Just do this one hand video analysis and it will all be clear!
Thanks in advance! And hope it's clear what I'm asking ;-)
Oct. 25, 2014 | 1:48 a.m.
Yea video since first hand to the final table of this tournament together with Jason Koon or Grayson Ramage or Todd Sisley (who has deep cash game backround) would be great!
Back to my spot about defending with Q6: -Simple Ben. Can you proove in some way that defending this hand, and similar weak hands vs good player is profitable? Just do it in your way, same how you are counting if certain move earns profits or looses. I think if you are defending there then you are sure it's profitable, but can you show it is? And how profitable it is? What is expected value?
Oct. 14, 2014 | 8:55 p.m.
1. I think Q6 in BB vs Vicenfish is a snap no brainer fold (it's just my opinion :-) ), so can you make some sort of break down range vs range analysis with math and so on that we (and you) could see what is the profitness of this call and do we really should defend it at all?
2. Also (don't want to merge with above theme) would be interesting if stacks sizes would be different and you weren't chip leader would it still be a call? Or in another words, -Are we calling with this hand cause we have big stack advantage in the spot and willing to fight very often for this pot?
3. I think especially in this spot the fact he is raising to you (the agressives big stacks Big Blind) make his range even stronger (cause he perceives you won't fold too often your BB), so should we really defend these garbage hands? Anyway, don't want to merge 2nd and 3rd with the 1st post, just want to get the answer to the 1st ;-)
P. S. Seems cash game guys are overdefending theyr Big Blind too much. Would be great to see actuall math and profitness of these plays.
Oct. 10, 2014 | 11:26 p.m.
Cause you flat most of your range from BB getting good price and closing the action, while it's not the same to flat from SB so you 3bet way wider.
Great video, Kevin!
19:30 you didnt continue w kj on the turn. On what kind of board texture you would prefer to double barrel?
