Villain 13/12 over 68 hands RFI EP 17 (6/35) fold to 3b 1/1. Think flop probably crushes his 3b flatting range. I bet the turn because I felt like I needed to because of necessity but after the hand I was thinking that checking back the turn would have been okay. Okay to check turn here?

You can start here and begin constructing a range.

Daz - Based on this post I believe you may have some monsters under your bed. I don't believe that you got to be a winning player and up to $50nl by checking back top set in a 3b pot on a draw heavy board that you already admit may have hit the villain's calling range that you would more than likely get value from by leading the flop.
I had the opportunity to play baseball in college. There were times I would go thru slumps where my game and confidence would not be at the level that I knew it should be, and what got me thru it was working on the basic fundamentals of the game not trying to out-think it.
I am no where near the level of player that you are at this game, so I am in no way trying to advise you how to play your game. You definitely don't need someone like me telling you did or did not play a hand poorly.

Also missed that it was $25nl - glanced at stack sizes without paying attention to the pre bet sizes.

Ah, just saw your thought process in the other post.

For my educational benefit, any merit in 5 betting/gii pre with someone with these preflop stats with QQ? If not, why?

1hr 10min winning session with Mozart in the background. Although I am not ready to chalk up the music to the win, I feel that I went in to a session determined to remain focused and play my best game. On the other hand, the music did not hinder like I had come to theorize from previous sessions. Interesting experiment that I will continue to monitor.

Nice video. Although I am not a big Mayweather fan, one cannot help to admire his work ethic and abilities that he has and has developed.

If you c/c the flop, what is our play on that turn?
Dec. 30, 2013 | 5:23 p.m.
I have tried this, and although it is probably coincidence, it seems like I have a losing session every time I have music going on in the background. I start a 3 week vacation next week and I plan to play quite a bit of poker during this time since the family will be resuming their normal schedule of work and school. I had actually planned on doing a little experiment keeping track of my sessions with and without music in the background.
Based on the article, it may be the type of music that I am playing during sessions. Will give the clasical music a shot.

ToothPaste - didn't see your post until after I posted how the hand ran out. Yeah I don't mind how I played the hand up until the river. I think the mistake I made was getting to the river without a plan on how I was going to play it. I think betting the river 100% of the time would have been the correct play.
Thanks Guys!

Looks like A2/A3 type hand that called with A high + gs on dry flop and hit top pair on the turn. Don't know how often your going to get him off top pair here.
I play well below $50nl so the following is not directed toward how you played the hand but for my benefit. Are you finding that you get a lot of folds vs. this type of villain by raising his small lead on the turn? Think I would be more inclined to raise his lead if it was an Ac with more equity.

Don't think the hand you linked corresponds to what you are describing in the post.

Pretty good article here that delves into the math of 3b/4b/5betting that I have been trying to wrap my head around lately if you haven't already read it.

Been working on my bet sizing lately, just quick math in my head, would $4 on the flop and $8 on the turn not be fine? That leaves us with an easy shove on the river on a good run out. Or are we pricing in draws to call us down with the smaller c-bets?

What would you consider his gii range?
Nov. 30, 2013 | 12:04 a.m.
Probably checking back the flop and taking a free card with our double gutshot. Don't know if I like the jam here on the flop, a player like this is never folding to our jam and there are going to be better spots in which we have better equity vs this type of villain to get it in with.

Just looking for someone to study/discuss strategy with. I'm a US player that has just started beating the micros after donking away for the first couple of months. The trade off for me would be some improvement in my game I found someone that has consistently beat the game. For the one volunteering their time? Gratification of paying it forward?

Could not find anything that mentioned this being against the site TOS or not so mods feel free to delete or let me know if it is.
Just picked playing PLO at mircos level a couple of months ago and looking for someone that would be willing to trade off a couple of sweat sessions. If so let me know, and we can arrange something.

Why shove holding a J instead of a nine? Does the added gutshot + possibility of hitting two pair better than AT give us that much more equity?
Nov. 14, 2013 | 4:55 a.m.
Zen...Just started playing PLO so I by any means am not doubting your advice but I guess I'm over valuing this type of hand in the CO. If we are not opening this hand in the CO, even with a BTN that is 3-betting 28%, how much better does this hand have to be? QJT7ss+? QJT7ds+?
I probably would have just checked my option pre and not raised the pot. At these stakes, no one is folding and we are going to be playing a bloated multi-way pot out of position with speculative AAxx.
I guess you got just as good of a flop without hitting an A as we could have asked for. I think you have to bet this flop. Although, if the 9 would have been a spade I would have probably c/f to a bet.
Turn c/c is fine I believe. I think you can add some wrap + fd to the co range when he bets the turn. River is good, although in your post you say that you think the best thing to do if we hit our club is to c/f. If that is the case and you are sticking to the range that you gave him for betting
why are we calling the turn, just to hit a two outer with an A?
