Thanks for this series, Sauce, I've been enjoying it.
Question, hand at 25:00
Curious why you're not giving any consideration to checking back the KJs (top 2) in Dan's spot, given that Justin can certainly have flushes in his range and getting check raised puts us in a really crappy spot both cEV and $EV wise. Dan blocks top pair and I am not sure what combos we expect Justin to stack off for "all the money" as you mentioned, again considering ICM implications etc.
Is it mostly a protection bet from another spade rolling off? Maybe you think Justin is mostly check/calling turn with flushes? But it sounds like you're still interested in 3 barreling allin for value, so I am bit lost. Thanks again!

Hey Zach, thanks for the nice video.
I'm a bit confused on the first AA hand around the 25:00 min mark on Table 1. You mention how it's important to protect your high equity when there is no low possible, but then you checkback flop instead of betting for protection, allowing him to make a crappy low that he might otherwise just fold to a flop bet.
Am I missing something?
Thanks again!

Thanks guys!

Thank you for the fun video, Sam.
At 32:45 the "unfortunate situation" where you raise call QJo vs a 10 bb re-jam, it seems like an easy fold to me.
What kind of range do you expect this player to jam with little FE vs the big stack UTG opener?
Not only it seems like we don't have enough chip equity to call vs his range, but also we should probably call even tighter factoring in ICM... no?
I would love to hear some math or other explanation behind this.
Thanks again!

Nice vid Sam, don't listen to all the "bots" commenting... They obviously don't understand that it's the "nonstandard plays" that make these particular games profitable... And paying attention to the thinking processes of various winning players regardless of what your actual starting hands are.

1) regarding the 12 minute tangent on the c/c/lead line with tpwk .... as an exploitative play, you guys mentioned the "disaster" of leading and getting shoved on, but it seems from the range we assign villain that when he shoves vs our turn lead, we're essentially drawing dead, so I don't see what the issue is... and i like the line taken the more I think about it
2) regarding the min raise vs Flush Entity on the bb, which he defends, I believe Jason had something in mind before he saw the post flop action, and he was interrupted... i could be a mind reader or perhaps this is wishful thinking: I am curious if you were about to comment on our pre-flop open raise size? given that a good reg is in the big blind that will correctly defend super wide, do you guys think we should alter our opening size in this or similar spots? (obv in this particular spot a bigger opening size would commit us 100% to his shove so altering our opening range here would also be necessary).

I like the shoving range suggested by Jason, but what about just flatting? Doesn't it look pretty strong? Don't we want to flat huge hands like KK/AA and thus could also add hands like 77/AJ which are also ahead of the shover's range? I tend to only have a flatting range here, so I am curious what you see as the drawbacks. Is it that we are offering too good odds to original raiser? I don't think he is calling us very light in that spot, nor iso shoving due to our perceived range's strength, and his stack to pot ratio, but I could be wrong. Would be interested in your thoughts.

was told by a buddy that I was in this video... Way to call me a fish at 41:00 as I proceed to call you with bottom pair in 3bet pot and was good... :D

Thanks, Nick! That's way more than I expected. Awesome response. Going to start playing around with ICMizer, and folding more... (yeah right ;)
Thanks again

Thanks for this video, Nick. It's a great step for me to learn more about ICM, what I consider one of the biggest holes in my MTT game.
I have one question:
Around 25:00 the A7o hand in the big blind, where the button open shoves 16 bbs. Being pretty ICM unaware myself I would almost certainly call this, since I know villain's range includes any Ax. You didn't hit the ChipEV button for this hand, but I imagine it's a very easy call ChipEV wise. Can you please explain a little bit of the ICM concept behind this fold? It seems like a clear fold ICM wise, and I was very surprised and a bit clueless as to why. Thanks in advance.

48:38 - Can you please talk about your decision to value bet your set on the turn (4 card str8)? You mentioned it was "iffy". I tend to check back my entire range here and bluff catch/value bet/bluff river a lot.
Thanks. Really enjoyed this, Nick. More when you can please :)
