if you put him on mostly 98xx/456x (which I agree with), our eq on the turn is about 23%. I'd probably check-call a small bet, check-fold to a pot bet, bet-call only if I had the club flush draw as well (make the Js the Jc, your eq jumps to 42%)

I agree with the above. And as a starting point for PLO beginners, I think the article series "PLO from Scratch" on donkr.com is really helpful: http://en.donkr.com/Articles/Category/PLO-from-scratch!-14

he's getting more than 3:1 on the river with a bluff catcher, and your 55/88 hands are a small part of your range... you could have busted straight draws, counterfeited 2 pair, lower spades. Dont think he can/should fold with these odds

UTG is tight-passive nut peddling type 18/2 3b 4, flop cb 100 (65),
HJ aggro pre but not post 30/30 3b 31 flp cb 38 (51),
BN is fishy loose 43/15 3b 6.7 flop cb 67 (48)
maybe 4b pre would be best?

so I flop a pair and inside wrap on a fd board. How would you proceed here, shove the flop?

pre: would fold this utg (too junky/disconnected for oop, would open CO/BN)
flop: question is if villain is capable of bluff-raising paired boards like this. If he is then we should call (and call turn and river too)... if he's never/rarely bluffing he has A6x,96x,99 and we're pretty dead. Vs default zoom 25 reg I would fold

my simulation looks like this (not taking QQ out, you never know):
board: Qs 5h 4c Jh
Hand Equity Wins Ties
6h 7d 8h 9h 41.53% 224,380 2,097
AA:hh,KK:hh,QQ,QJ,KT:hh,KJJT,JJT9,JJ67,AKQ:hh,AKT9,KQT9 58.47% 316,363 2,097
fwiw i would check back turn and try to hit, rather than get shoved on and be forced to call

when BB donks pot into 3 people I'd think he does this for value/protection with a set or two pair. I'd bet bigger OTT, around 35 BB / $7, and probably b/f river... agree with 5carab

I have a question re: preflop. Does it ever make sense to 4b a hand like this? like try to get the BU out, play HU vs the likely SB AA/KK?
Dec. 13, 2012 | 1:27 p.m.
thank you very much for your reply Phil :)
agree that $5 or $6 gets called by same... I did call the turn raise, river was 5c, he bet half pot. Tbh the only hands that make sense to me here are 2 pair on the flop, so 89, or 99 that missed a c/r. Just such a weird spot to bluff, and for such a small bet on river, begging to be called :/
I guess I should just call river, getting 4:1

So, the BU is pretty TAG, he does 3b quite a bit but this 4b should be AA most of the time (this is PLO25, no one 4bets without AA). I dont know if the shove on the flop is standard, maybe there are better plays?
What do you think of the 4b with rainbow aces in Bu's spot?

Math says folding would be a huge mistake - on the flop you're calling roughly $6 to win $36, getting pot-odds of 5.4:1, which means you need ~16% equity to break even, if you have more than that you make a profit. With AAxx (with bdfd) you will always have 16%+, even in a 4way allin pot (18-20%, if everyone always puts the rest in with any pair/any draw)
Even if you ignore the players behind and assume they're folding: after BB shoves you get pot odds of 3.7:1, so in that case you need 22% (HU pot you have 40-50% vs any pair/draw, vs tightest possible range of AA, KK, QQT, JJ, 77, KJ, K7, J7 still 27%), in 3way pot (if CO calls) you get 4.7:1, need 18%, have 28-31%
In short: DO NOT FOLD
