thx for the video I definitely lernead a lot.
How would you draw the line between being open with friends and be able to talk about results and things that affect you but are out of control and trying to avoid this type of talk to not give it too much importance.
Doing a really extreme example when someone is in grief they were really unlucky that someone they love died but talking about that can really improve their well being and easy their dealing with such lost.

Nice video took a lot of heuristics from it, one thing I found interising is that you will nodelock pio to select the same size you used in game while myself was used to just look into how pio play with his size kinda thinking " Now that I know my turn size was wrong I will do the correct one next time ".
I guess my question is why do you opt to nodelock a different size?

20:50 bottom left - why the 8 of spades is a bad card I would imagine having a spade
would make for good blockers to bluff on the river and blocking k8s shouldnt be so relevant?

I imagined this journal would work like a Foucault eye, where I would be motivated to improve because people would be watching, this couldn't be further from the truth but I will still try to write from time to time so I can look back and have some form of accountability/motivation.
Okay, a bit of an update last month as I have said I took my shot at 200nl and it was the nicest shot possible, ended the month up around 6k and something with rakeback, and am now with 10bb/100 last 50k hands of 100nl+.
It's bizarre to think how far I have come and how important was networking along the way but even more strange is how there is gigantic room to improve. If you compare any pool with pio you will see how terrible everyone is (not saying we should play gto all the time).
Back to the goals I have been able to put around one hour of study and spending some time with family, I may lose the volume goal though but in my defense, I am doing a lot more work on trying to apply to some internships than I first imagined.
Now My biggest hand of the month, where we can see how important is table selection.

Yeah, graduating is for sure going to happen I might give the wrong vibe on the previous post and I would like to blame language but the truth is I am terrible at writing haha.
I also agree with the tedious part but think trying to minimize the amount of "unhappy" time on your day should be a good metric

Thx for the input,
Yeah I am young I have 21 years so I can defenetly mess things once or twice.
About working for someone I dont think I have a problem with that but I do think I have a problem doing something that I find tedious for a living and right now most jobs seems to be either that way or just insane hours that I am not willing to put.

For a kid with a bright future:*
I was at a museum around January this year and I found this work of art that resonated with me, sometimes when I am thinking about my normal/non-poker future I think if am not doing it only because is what people expect me to do.
I have put myself in a situation where all my family and friends have high hopes for what I can achieve and would be hard to tell my 80 years old grandmother that I wanted to leave everything behind to play a card game that she probably thinks is a game of the devil anyways.
Now with the philosophical part of the text gone let's talk about some updates and goals, on the first I have started to play 200nl so far the shot taking has been doing good people are a bit better but nothing to be really afraid of also has been more challenging to the mental and technical aspect and I was wanting a bit of a challenge anyway.
Now goals wise we are going to finally have some vacation starting Thursday so I plan to use that vacation in an attempt to simulate a poker pro scenario but at the same time spend time with family and friends that I haven't seen in 6 months now.
Goals:
( ) Study 1-2 hours each day
( ) Grind 50k hands in 30 days
( ) Be with my friends and family
( ) Exercise 6 times a week!

Think everyone also likes it for the challenge. Ofc I prefer to win the most money possible while playing but there is a reason why everyone play ranked queue in videogames is just more fun to play against people on your level and that actually view the match/hand as something important.

About the second point the reason why you may wanna go this route is because your whole strategy should change in gtoland according to your range on the flop, so you will never really consolidate any learning if you keep changing ranges everytime in your sims.
I really think this is the way to go study wise, while playing you should consider all possible table dynamics and rake to adjust your range that way, and then playing postflop having that in mind.
There are some online ranges that may work for you and are free think odin and gtowiz have some for example, you can also buy some online or ran it yourself but think its way too expensive.

As promised here I am with an irregular update,
IRL: I am at the end of my semester so has been def stressful and without a lot of free time, my gym has been lacking because of this, and ofc my poker volume. On the bright side seems to be harder to be tilted as I already have enough on my plate.
Grind:I am now playing iggy reg tables and the player pool is as terrible as people say, but the whole software is a lot worse than what I am used to and overall gameplay is just too slow, even then think will mostly grind there moving forward, adding a bit to unregular sites to get around 400-500 h/hr wich right now is my volume sweet spot.
Competitive play x Making money
The more I play on this kind of unregulated site the more profitable I become I estimate (there are a lot of mistakes in this estimative for sure) I am a 0~2 pre rb player on 100z and around 7bb/100 on unregulated sites.
The problem is I get more bored the more "easy" the game is. When you are playing on a competitive playfield every time you get faced with a new decision and get more deep into the game tree it's a lot easy to improve and a lot easy to feel the sensation of something new.
I am not saying I cant improve against fishes ofc I can and my wr can prob be even doubled, is just that does seem more like a task while playing and not like a fun game where you can really be challenged.

Hand 1# Yeah think he may be a bit of cs if he coldcall from the bb, but at the same time the way he was playing was really face up, imo here he mosty has weak hands/air and once in a lifetime nuts for me was impossible to see an Aq for example thats why I chose to bluff, but you could make the argument that even then doesnt matter because he will prob call anything, and the more I think about this argument the more right it semms. About betting range I would imagine this particular combo is a really nice check against a fish wouldnt you agree?
Hand 2# I think I would prefer to x with a fd here but betting is a def a option in fact is what solver is doing most of the time with my combo, if wasnt 9xh than would almost always be a bet so for sure I nice finding.

So a little update, the weekend wasnt so good had a lot of uni things to do so felt really stressful most of it and didnt have as many time to grind.
The upside was that I had two really great study sessions and one of those was with a friend that I havent study with for some time who is also 1000x better than me so I really learned a lot this weekend.
About studying I feel like I dont like the process as much as some but I do love when I know something that villan doesnt or just do a correct but difficult play, prob some ego issues there as I have been someone that likes to believe is just "too smart to try".
So now what everyone likes some HH, both maybe a bit spewy the first am not really sure as both cards appears to have good blockers but the whole line is weird, the second is gto aproved and Imo good against pop

I 100% agree with the graph I just dont think is the best for me mental game wise, I am already too results oriented without someone congratulating me for a big winning session.
About the HH no problem with those will try to find some interesting ones along the way.

Giving myself the best shot
Hey, guys have been a lurker for quite some time now and got inspired by some of the amazing journals around here so hopefully, I can try to do the same while also motivating me to improve my game and knowing new friends along the journey.
About myself, I am a Brazilian cash game player who is also finishing his university degree, my goal is to give myself the best shot so that in one year and a half for now when I am graduating I can consider poker as a serious choice. Right now I am playing 100nl and think somewhere around 100 Usd/hour by the end of this journey is a good goal.
What can you expect from this journal:
Terrible storytelling
Spewy plays
Low volume (uni takes too much time)
Unregular updates
A bit of honest
I will try to avoid graphs mostly because I just don't think will have enough volume in any particular stake to really make sense to post it, I also try to follow Clanty brm suggestion of taking 10 % shots on somewhere around the 33-55 bi mark for the next stake.
Luke Johnson Have been binge watching your content really impressive how much you are able to teach!
On 48:00 why does you want to slowplay 88 and fastplay QQ kinda of the oposite from the turn, for me the explaination on the turn about blocking and unblock villans bluff range made perfect sense and I would continue with this heuristic by the river. Is that because 88 blocks the x back range?
