@15:16 given it's a buy-in level in which we have a significant edge, what's the bottom of our squeezing range here? Will we have a non-all-in sizing with AA etc. or are stacks too shallow? Just curious to hear more of your preflop thoughts about this spot, which I assume rarely, if ever, comes up in the higher stakes/solver environment.
Also, just as a note: it would be helpful to show what stage of the tournament we are in by toggling your info tab in the top right, instead of showing 1st place or prize pool :)

Thanks for this very informative video!
If you google “double board plo bomb pot strategy”, the top result brings an article from a rival site, whose #1 tip is: Never bet on the flop from any position other than CO or BU.
You clearly have a very different approach here. Can you comment on the merits & drawbacks of each approach? I can see both sides.
Also, I think you misread the final hh. Looks like hero is calling a bet from UTG+1, not betting out himself. Was his call ok? Seems close.

That's great advice to keep in mind and something I've recently come back to in the last few months. I think intuition was always a strong point in my game early in my career, but with more studying came the urge to be more "precise" with my ranges and sizings. My focus had shifted towards emulating solvers and I was leaving some EV on the tables playing this way. Recently I'm back to playing more intuitively & the results have been positive so far.
Thanks for the well thought out reply!

Great video, I can tell you put in a lot of work!
For me, the biggest surprise is how wide we are supposed to be 3bet jamming 20bb from BB vs UTG on the bubble. I've definitely been just defending A4s-A2s in these spots, and I'm not sure I can be convinced jamming is the superior play in practice. It seems like big stacks shrug call off too often to be risking our tournament life so close to the money.
In sims we have no edge so I understand that we need to be taking these close spots to avoid getting exploited. In practice however, say we have a ~15% edge on the field, do you still think jamming A4s is the best play? I get that our post-flop playability goes down due to the bubble, but the risk:reward for 4.5bb doesn't seem worth it.
Would love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks!

WEEEWOOOWEEEWOOOWEEEWOOO
THIS IS THE PIP POLICE. STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER & PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE MUCK.
Seriously though, I'm enjoying this ACR midstakes series a lot. It's nice seeing what reads and exploits you're making versus midstakes regs, as opposed to the usual crushers you face in GG high rollers.
You absolutely wrecked that guy @6:07

Very nice node to drill. I'm realizing I don't have a clue as BTN here and neither do most of my opponents!
@21:46 sorry where are you seeing the 70 rng? GTOWiz is showing a 15.
@26.20 I think you forgot to show the turn solution with QQ vs the check raise.
@33:05 could another reason we prefer betting A5cc vs other A5s combos be that when CO check raises flop (which will happen a decent amount on this board, right?) we're just fine folding clubs, whereas with our backdoor flush draws we're closer to indifference?
Thanks for the vid! You're one of my favorite instructors at the moment

Some FT’s tend to fizzle out once it gets to the HU portion… This is NOT one of them!
It seems to me like we are seeing pads recognize from the get-go that he is overmatched versus a HU specialist. So his game plan with the frequent large sizings is to simply up the variance. Do you agree that this is his goal? And would it be justifiable to employ this style if one indeed finds themselves outmatched?
Very fun video as a viewer, facing so many river over-bets and check-raises with pure bluff catchers. Nice display of patience K-Rab. Why make a stand when we can just make quads? :)

Thanks for the vid, Hunter. I appreciate the quick recaps you do at the end of your videos. Very helpful.
I’d love to see you do a short strategy guide, or at least hear your thoughts, on the action game that’s sweeping the nation, double board PLO bomb pots.

@43:30 could you explain your thoughts around checking the turn? Seems like we want to keep getting value from Qx and draws.
@53:00 what happened to our QQ?

Yo, been trying to find what brand/model your FT sunglasses were. Do you know if they make a model for us beings with a single eye? Thanks. Congrats once again Espen

First time I’ve seen anyone do solver work regarding pseudo jams at FTs! Love it, thanks for the series Kevin

Really like the action-packed format! Though with 15s timebanks I’m sure it’s a bit hectic for you.
@16:30 T9ss on the left table, what river sizing would CO have to use to make us indifferent w our exact hand? Thoughts on his play vs donking smaller on this 5? It seems like a board where a lot of his draws miss, so bluffs will be frequent. But that population tends to be overly greedy & usually won’t be bluffing for this size so I instead he’s waited towards 5xhh + overpairs. Do you agree w this read?
@35:00 Without checking a sim (& even before seeing the villain raise), the K9 river over-bet strikes me as a mistake, as BU’s line shouldn’t have a deficiency of 3x. Are we targeting 8x + hero calls from A high? Maybe I’m wrong. The size seems ambitious, that’s all.
March 31, 2022 | 11:06 p.m.
@5:50 with 63s, which rivers are we looking to continue bluffing & which are we going to give up? Thanks for the vid Dylan, looking forward to part 2!

How do you determine your iso size vs rec limps? 3.25x is on the smaller side of what I see many regs doing. Do you always go with this size IP? If not, what are the most important factors to consider when changing our size? Thanks for the video!

My favorite part of your analysis was the multiway pots. Awesome review so far!

Hi Matthias, this video is my first impression of you.
I really like your stylistic approach to the game. “Abstracting” from the rigid, theory-based ranges we have all studied is a crucial aspect of poker. Yet I find that the more studied we become, the more we are able to auto-pilot; thinking “this is a fold. this is a jam.” etc.
Not a healthy approach, especially in MTTs where the dynamic is just that — dynamic!
You seem to think about poker as if it were a board game. This is why I like that you chose to show us some of the preflop folds you made. When coaches make vpip videos, we miss out on seeing all of the close folds they made. The viewer’s perception can become skewed when we see them justifying loose vpips, but never tight folds. Sometimes, it can be one of those folds which (unbeknownst to us, since the hand never even happened) saved them from busting the tournament.
Looking forward to your next vid!

I appreciate these “big picture” videos & I especially love the sports strategy analogies. Videos which can lead to thinking about poker in a new, eye-opening way are naturally going to be more hit-or-miss. Either the viewer will get a lot out of it, or nothing. Maybe those who find it boring miss the point or already think of poker in this way. But there’s a lot of value to be had for some of us! Your technical/live play videos are very good as well so I won’t be disappointed either way.

How early is too early to start stalling every hand preflop?
It seems excessive (& poor sportsmanship?) to do it right out of the gate (when late regging), but at the same time it has to be correct from a purely strategic standpoint, right?
Interested in hearing your thoughts, as well as others.
Feb. 8, 2021 | 5:44 a.m.
Nice vid as always.
When playing zone on bovada, it is standard practice for pros to identify weaker players based on their <100bb stacks. Naturally, we want to expand our opening range vs these players to play more hands with them. The problem I’m having is that from UTG, the combos I’ve been dipping into tend to be more of the “implied odds” starting hands. Stuff like A2s or 33, which do not perform well at a lower SPR.
Do you think the +EV of playing more hands vs weak players outweighs the -EV effect of opening such hands vs say, a 40bb stack? Should I be opening more offsuit broadways in these spots instead? Or would you suggest leaving my UTG range untouched vs shorter stacks & only focus on targeting them from late position or bvb situations.
Looking forward to hearing your response, thanks!

Really love this style of video from you.

Awesome content, thank you.
Sam, my question is about your 3-betting worst Axo rule of thumb. Could you provide a couple of scenarios where this rule isn’t so applicable?
I hadn’t heard this before (though it makes a lot of sense) & I know I’m going to start misapplying it in my games if I don’t get any clarification.
One more nitpick: I’d prefer to see the stacks in units of BBs instead of chips.
Thanks again!

This pump fake is a bit naughty, isn’t it?
Jan. 15, 2021 | 4:22 a.m.
Appreciate the video. You mention a few times that you tend to over-defend your BB. I hope you don't mind me asking, but why do you choose to do that? I hesitate to say this because I don't wanna be "that guy", but I feel like many of these marginal spots could have been avoided by folding pre.

9:30 on the 7h turn, I think the main reason we are betting our 3’s and 5’s so often is because we’re blocking our opponents sets & straights, right?
I really like the content of this video, you’re right that there is not enough multi-way content on rio! One thing to improve on would be zooming in on the sim we are focusing on instead of keeping all 6 sims up throughout. Some people are watching on their phones
Dec. 10, 2020 | 1:33 p.m.
38:50 what's our plan with QTs if our opponent jams vs our turn bet? I often struggle with my turn sizings in low SPR pots for this reason. I find that the sizing I want to use to attack their perceived range consequentially causes me to become indifferent to a jam. This has to be a bad thing, right? We want to make our opponents indifferent, not ourselves. Or do you think the turn x/jam happens infrequently enough that it's not an important factor in our sizing? I suppose my question has become less about this specific hand but more in general.
ps. looking forward to your btn flat analysis vid!

Couldn't help but chuckle every time you said "we rolled high"
Your big mistake was flipping the hat backwards. We're winning EVERY race with the forwards cap, then suddenly it's backwards and we're out of the tournament.
Huge error IMO.
