That's just what he claims so who knows what he actually had.

Also I asked him the other day about this hand and if he remembered and he said he had QhTh.

Dec. 11, 2013 | 10:34 a.m.

This happened in a small card room in Central California and the guy who did this is a solid Reg at another card room in the area and has now became a reg at the card room I prop at.

I ended up folding the hand. My thinking was I don't think villain here is getting out of line here with anything but a hand that beats me. He is 5 hands into the session and I'm the only stack at the table that is close to covering him. I really don't see anyone in these stakes bluff shoving 350bb 5 hands into a session with a hand that doesn't have me beat. When i folded he said "Did you have a set?" I said yea and he said good fold I had the flush. I have no idea if his flush was better but I like to assume I made a good fold here haha.

2/4 NL No Cap

Hero $1350 - Hero is a prop and has a good TAG winning image at the table.
Villain $1400 (bought into game for that amount) - Villain is new to the table maybe 5 hands into session. I have played with him once before and from my recollection he is a solid player that doesn't get out of line past the flop. I also had another prop tell me that he is a good player and has been playing for a long time. he is probably in his 40's.

Table is 6 handed

Hero is BTN /w J9
Villain is CO

Villain raises to $16
Hero calls
SB and BB fold

Flop 2J3 Pot ($33)

Villain Bets $20
Hero Raises to $60
Villain Calls

Turn 2J38 Pot ($153)

Villain Checks
Hero Bets $110
Villain Calls $110

River 2J38K Pot ($373)

Villain Checks
Hero Bets $240
Villain Jams $974 and is all in

Here's the rest of the hand.

I jammed for 20.xx and he tank called with 7x7h

River was a 2c.

I jammed because it just looked so bluffy and I'd seen him make this turn bet here as a bluff before. When he made this bet it was instant, and like I'd seen in another hand, when he insta pot it was a bluff. But outside of being results oriented I think that raising flop here is a must and my big mistake. My jam here is situational ofc and against an unknown this is most likely going to be a fold on the turn. Also I agree that my raise Pre should have been a bit larger. Thanks for all the input guys!

In this hand Villain is very very fishy playing 58/38/AF 3.4 (only over 45 Hands ) But can still tell he is very Bad Aggressive. What do you do here? I think I should have raised flop to about 5.25-5.75 but outside of that whats your play here. Ill post what I did and the results later.

Me (HJ) $25.08

P2(CO) $24.46

P3(BTN) $31.49

P5(SB) $8.39

P6(BB) $22.75

P7(MP) $43.75

P8(MP) $32.73

P9(LP) $21.27

Pre Flop: Me(HJ) with [Ks,Ac]

P7(UTG) folds, P8 (UTG1) raises 0.75, P9 (MP) calls 0.75, Me (HJ) raises 2.50, P2 (CO) folds, P3 (BTN) folds, P5 (SB) folds, P6 (BB) folds, P8 (MP) calls 1.75, P9 (LP) folds

Flop: (Kh,Jh,8d) (2 players) (pot) $6.10

P8(UTG1) bets $2, Me(HJ) calls $2

Turn: 4h (2 players)(Pot) 10.10

P8(UTG1) bets 10.10

Thanks for the post. Seeing the proper winrates gives me a goal to shoot for!

Sept. 13, 2013 | 12:27 a.m.

Thanks for the reply and currently I'm a small winner 3.8bb/100 @ 10NL and 5.65bb/100 @ 25NL, but I'm constantly looking for leaks and ways to improve. This sb/bb thing just jumped out at me and seemed to be a problem. Currently my 3bet from the SB and BB is only 3% which I think is much too low. I'm going to implement some of the things you listed above and see if I can't bring my winrate in the blinds up!

Sept. 13, 2013 | 12:26 a.m.

It's including mandatory blinds. Like I said I'm sure this will be every ones least profitable position I'm just curious if people are ever showing profits here or just trying to minimize losses. For me I'm -49.33bb/100 in the BB and -22.1bb/100 in the SB and that just seems way too much to me.

Sept. 12, 2013 | 7:46 a.m.

After doing some recent research in HEM2 I realized that I'm profitable in EVERY position outside of the blinds to where I'm a HUGE Loser? I get that it's going to be your overall least profitable position, but what's a proper winrate in the blinds? Are people showing profits in the blinds ever? Or is it just something you try to minimize by defending more/3betting?

Post | Tjohnston posted in MTT: Live "Ooops" Doubles me Up

Today I was playing at a local card room for the monthly 10k Freeroll for people /w 60+ hours in the month.

Blinds were 100/200 and effective stacks were (me) 28k (villain)22k. I have AQdd in MP and open to 500 Villain on the Button Calls and everyone else folds.

Flop 8Q2 Rainbow

I bet 1000 Villain Calls

Turn 10

I bet 2500

Villain Calls and flips over his hand showing KToff

At this point the tournament director comes over and declares the hand still live and we go to the River

River 2

At this point I laugh and say this is messed up to which the Villain says if you bet I'm calling, I laugh and say something to the effect of you're beat don't call.

I bet 20k Putting Villain all in thinking this is an obvious fold for him

Villain Calls

I flip over AQ for the winning hand and the guy flips out calling me an asshole ect.

Was this wrong of me? Should I have just checked? I told the guy not to call... What is RIO's thoughts?

Duhamel's play there is incredible. I try to imagine his thought process of putting Antonio on ranges ect and it's just amazing how perfect he played that hand.

I agree that the other sites do have great coaches that represent their sites, for me personally I've just found that the videos here are made in a way that I really seem to grasp the concepts better than the other sites. Also the forums here are much more interactive and friendly than others IMO.

What an amazing play!

Yea I'm not renewing any subscriptions besides this one, I might just pool together the money from subs to other sites and go with the Elite membership, I can only imagine it's well worth it!

Aug. 27, 2013 | 1:51 a.m.

Agreed. I have had subs to DC, CR, LG, ect and this site is BY FAR the best imo.

I'd also look into SoCal or Bay Area California. There is a pretty great poker scene (not LV good but good nonetheless) and there are a lot of jobs and the weather is great! Either way good luck in your endeavors!

Comment | Tjohnston commented on Call or Jam

That flop hits your opponents ranges so much and is such a draw heavy board that you should be betting not only for value but for protection as well. The best line in this hand is like BigFiszh said is Bet Flop, Bomb Turn.

Aug. 24, 2013 | 12:52 a.m.

Good luck!

Aug. 24, 2013 | 12:37 a.m.

For me the only way to beat the Micro's was to just play tight and bet for value. When you try to over think situations in the micro's it's a recipe for disaster because you have to remember that most of them aren't thinking. Play good ABC and bet for value and you should be building that roll in no time.

Aug. 23, 2013 | 10:35 p.m.

Never fold quads, the chances that your quads are behind are slim to none (2%). Yes they were this time but you should never fold here regardless (most of the time Villain is showing up here with Tx type hands or TT,JJ,QQ,KK,AA and has the losing hand 98% of the time) . Ask what the bad beat jackpot is then fist pump like The Love said.
