I would disagree with those videos that suggest that. Firstly, we need to consider what our stack size and what sort of hands are we open/folding or just open jamming based on our stack size.
I think it's pretty good opening all pocket pairs in any position when folded to because it will balance our opening range from EP or MP. It's especially good for deception in early position because usually our opponents will give us a very strong range.
The only problem I see with opening 22-55 in EP is around the middle stage of an MTT. Usually when we flop 3 overcards OTF I think it's -EV for us to be stabbing or cbetting a high frequency. Essentially 22-88 flop really poorly when called so it's extremely hard to play them out of position.
Also, it seems like your strategy is to call all 3bets with 22-44 which I think is quite bad. Yes we do have implied odds when we hit a set but most of the time we will be behind and fold to cbets. I guess it is situational but I just think calling 3bets out of position with 22-44 is terrible.

Hi !
Interesting spot. I think if villain is passive we should definitely call and reevaluate on the flop since we have position. If you think he is aggressive and opening light and trying to steal blinds it's a 3bet jam imo because there is only 24 combo of value hands that beat us. However, I've seen aggressive players 4x open with the top of their range (QQ+ AK ) because they know when they do this there is a lot of air in their range that makes it look like they want to steal the blinds so I would be careful.
I personally think call and shoving is most optimal and folding is probably -EV.

He is definitely not folding to 3bet (25% fold to 3bet). He folded to twice to my 3bet jams previously.
I still think mathically i made the right play except i agree that 66 is weak when he shows up with the top5%.

Definitely a close spot so i was indifferent to jam/folding except i think i am ahead of his openong range so much of the time (assuming he opens 40% and only calling at the top of his range) so i decided to go with my read. I do not like calling and 3betting would make us commited if we realise good equity on the flop. Please correct me if i am wrong.
Maybe this is a mental leak in my game where i try to outplay my opponent.

I think it's fine to jam here only, I mean villain can only call us off with 7.84% of his range (77+, ATs+, KQs, AJo+) if he thinks we are jamming light. If you have more reads on Villain and want to reduce variance I would consider 3bet and fold to a 4bet jam

I agree with ra_raal here. I think since we are readless but we do have position it's probably best to x/ the flop and x/c the turn since we have showdown value in this spot. He could just be x/r you because he knows he has a range advantage in this spot, I mean most of the time you miss this board with hands you're opening in the CO.
I imagine he might be limp/calling with a lot of small pocket pairs 22-66 ? I don't think AdTd would x/r in this spot probably a lot of flush draws. Depends what range you put him on tbh but I think your equity in this spot is pretty decent so it's probably a good fold however I would hate folding with only 1 over card.

This was at the end of my session, so my reasoning behind this was probably off and spewy. When he 4-bet Jams me in my mind I ranged him 77-10. I just felt that hands like kk-JJ would 4-bet smaller for value.
Wouldn't I be exploited if I folded QQ to 4-bet jams? Is this ever a good call with no reads ?
Sorry if I was reasoning was off.

Hey iPokerr
I think you are looking at this incorrectly. It seems you are looking at hand vs range instead of range vs range. If we are opening UTG and get 3bet and we decide to flat, the AJ6 board smashes our flatting range. I would be happy to x/c and get free showdown.
Also if we were 100B I don't understand why we would open limp TT. 100B deep (assuming we are chip leader on the table) I would open all my pocket pairs UTG. I would however implement a limp strategy with 22-66 UTG if I was short stacked and there were potential jamming stacks on our left.
