Ok so FIRST it doesn't matter if you like online or w/e, if you're SERIOUS about making money, then it's a BUSINESS - you, as the poker player, are the HOUSE.

There are TWO aspects to the game of poker: technical and mental.

TECHNICAL ASPECT
This is straightforward (INTELLECTUALLY speaking) to grasp the significance of but difficult to IMPLEMENT because: putting in study time when you don't feel like it is NOT SEXY. Having SLICK RICK facial expression and going "all in" and imagining the WOMEN going "OOoooooooh he a STONECOLDKILLER man" is SEXY => people overwhelmingly GRAVITATE towards SEXY as a general RULE, rather than TEDIOUS/ HARD WORK/ UNSEXY even though they understand this is NOT how you become a winner AT ANYTHING. They understand this, more or less consciously, but only intellectually - as in the concept itself is easy to recognize but hard to internalize. This is why most people, in general, are LOSERS. Don't be a loser.

MENTAL ASPECT
This is everything you've heard and MORE. I've seen guys FAR BETTER than I am have lamentably weak mental game and TILT OFF stacks, make HUGE mistakes - mistakes they know are mistakes - because what was supposed to happen in poker - SPOILER ALERT - HAPPENED IN POKER. I.e. the gambler got there w/ his flush draw/ gut shot/ one outer WHATEVER. This is also HUMAN but WEAK GAMBLERY THINKING, as is "booking a win" or "wanting to get there just this ONCE!" etc etc. You are the HOUSE. Gamblers gamble which is how you make your money IN THE LONG RUN which is why casinos make ALLLLLLLL the money because they don't deviate from their start and SACRIFICE their EDGE because some rando got lucky. They break it down at the end of the MONTH/ QUARTER/ YEAR and print their money.

LIVE POKER
I have EXTREMELY LIMITED EXPERIENCE so I invite any and all winning LIVE PROS to counter me here BUT: up to 2/5 in live poker the vast majority of your winnings will come from VALUE. This is because recs will call you down even when they KNOW they're beat/ drawing dead. They just have to see it and say "nice hand", tap the table and complain to their friend/ massage girl/ whoever's willing to listen over at the bar about how "unreal their bad luck is". Any of this sound familiar.

Yes, there are SPOTS for river BLUFF SHOVES even at 1/1. Yes, there are opponents vs who you can just CBET 70% of your range and you'd be printing money. BUT these are so RARE that they almost don't matter and if you don't have the EXPERIENCE to CLEARLY DISCERN these would likely lose you money.

You can literally probably just make 5bb+ per hour by just standard TAGging and randomly showing some bluff here and there to tweak your image a bit. EVEN if you're a NIT majority will still call because this time, THIS ONE TIME surely you're BLUFFING! "Oh wow, Queens Full of 8s huh? nice hand tap tap".

For your own SANITY however, I'd advise you to not go NEAR live play w/o a MINIMUM of 20 buyins. In a GREAT GAME (Friday or Sat night) it gets SWINGY - which is GOOD because you're the HOUSE remember, you're the 70%+ guy and your clients are drawing to their lucky 4 outer etc etc - BUT if you're not MENTALLY TOUGH it will WREAK you.

You can just play silly little games in the room that would be impossible for anyone to divine: red hat at next table down is twitchy and keeps looking up at the wide screen - if he does it 5 secs after the TURN, OVERBET, else 2/3 etc

Do you know, it's strange, but I would not be afraid to go against an ONLINE PRO in a LIVE game because they'd have no STATS on me.

LIVE is sooooo different than online that it's almost a different game. YES, PHILLIP is of course CORRECT in that if you've SOUND GTO it'll take you FAR. However, you need to do CRAZY LIVE ADAPTED EXPLOITS for the big money, otherwise you'll just be UNBEATABLE but won't win big.
