This sounds like you need to step away from the game.
If you have the $ for it I'd recommend you get yourself a copy of this book here on RIO.
It's called Mental Edge.
A little tag line from the book (copied from right here on RIO)
"Do you find yourself making mistakes you know you shouldn’t make? Do you wish you could always play and study at your best? Today’s poker games are too tough to not be at the top of your game all the time."
The book is $25.
It really sound like the game makes you unhappy. Have you thought about talking to a professional? For the sake of your mental health it may be best just to stop playing in way that is serious. Just do it for fun with friends every now and then.
At minimum though, I'd HIGHLY suggest getting this book. Take time away from the game and go through it thoroughly. Going through some of Tommy Angelo's could also be a big help to you. And really, I'm not trying to be condescending or trolling in anyway, I'd really suggest talking to a professional therapist about how the game makes you feel.

I dont believe RIO actually runs vision. I believe it was a stand alone thing and RIO and them partnered together to offer it to a wider audience.
I could be misremembering though.

Post | Matt D posted in Chatter: This one hurt.

Maybe it was bad of me to get in on the Turn, IDK. But at this level I see people in these spots getting All-in with a bare 8 in their hand. And also, by the river I have blockers to every every other better hand haha.

I played about 40Kish hand at PLO2 with a 19bb/100 win rate. Started mixing in PLO5 games as well. Then I binked a little score in a PKO tourny and had enough to try PLO10 (I cant really reload so I am VERY conservative with the BR). And I Have been running like like crap haha (Flopped Quads, get allin on flop and lose to a rivered straight flush. That was a fun one) I have made more then a few questionable river calls as well though lol.

I feel like in this hand, once the turn hits, I just have zero choice but to lose.
The SB pre call is rather questionable I admit haha

Just sucks to be running bad right when i try to step up to a new level.

There is a video on here from Leszek Badurowicz called "A Complete Guide to PLO Stats" that I think would help you a lot.

Sounds like poker might not be for you. However, if you really want to try and keep playing maybe, instead of jumping into trying to play again, you need to make time for the game away from actually playing. And by that I mean study. Study as much possible as first. maybe take 1 day a week to play at most. But the time you have for poker you should study. And when you do start playing again, play lower. Yes the rake is higher, but the players can be substantially worse even moving down a single level. And you might not feel the loses as harshly.

Most of all putting the time in studying, starting with the absolute basics, will give you piece of mind when you do lose. You're doing all you can, and sometimes you're just going to lose no matter what.

I'd recommend getting the "From The Ground Up" course here on Run It Once for your chosen game and hit it hard.

The answer is w/e you are comfortable with.
If you have an income source outside of poker and can easily reload $ to your roll if you lose it I would suggest being very aggressive with your roll at 1st. If not you need to be much more conservative.

I Love it RIO for what they offer. I however am not a big fan of Vision.
You obviously feel the same. I'd recommend looking at PLO Trainer from PLO Mastermind. I find it far easier to use, and updates happen often.

If you've never used it before, you can test it out for free. just make a free account with them and you get access to 100bb preflop for free. Wont get to really dive in with that, but you'll get a good understanding of the product before spending $.

Comment | Matt D commented on I have a question

If you're playing with your own $ why would you feel the need to give away any %?
Is this a private game on an app that this person is helping you get a seat into? Thats the only thing i can of, but that seems weird as you can play public nl50 games on every online site basically always. There is no need to play a private game...

If you're playing in highly raked games (micro stakes) anything other than full pot isn't good. You want the pots you win to be worth the high rake you will be playing.

It does matter. This course is 6 max focused. Full ring would be different. How much I'm not sure.

There's a couple tools for that now. Vision here on RUI, and PLOTrainer from PLO Mastermind.

Just finished playing for tonight (11:30pm) and reached my goal of 400 hands. It's tough to play as much as I'd like, # kids all doing remote learning at home due to the virus. My partner (their mom) has medical problems and is in and out of the hospital (she came home today after being in hospital since Tuesday). Anyway, I try to get as many hands in as can but it's tough sometimes.
Didn't play all that well tonight. Made some silly plays but was able to come back a little at the end. Was down over 5BI at one point came back to finish down under 2BI.

I know this is the cash forum but along with cash I played 3 tournies today as well.
Min cashed 2 of them (1 NLH and one 6-mas PLO)
and bubble the FT of another. Won a little in cash as well.
Tournaments are so frustrating haha

I think I'm raising id he bets flop.
I def need to get a better understanding of when/why to pot vs smaller sizing. I think i made a mistake by betting this river. Given he is so AA heavy and also some straights out there I think a check call would be better.

Jan. 11, 2021 | 6:46 a.m.

I'm honestly not sure if calling the 3 bet here pre was correct. Only had 11 hands vs villain.
I think my flop check was bad. Given he is weighted towards AAxx here I think he is calling on flop no matter what I bet. Calling here on river after he jams, knowing he is AA heavy... was this a bad call?

Thanks!
I know my path doesn't lead me to being some full time crusher based on how much time I actually get to put into studying/playing (work FT and have 3 kids so not much free time) but I'm going to just try and do the best I can.

So the From The Ground Up PLO course is great so far, but it's so hard to see what Emty is doing when he is using MonkerSolver which is a big bummer. Wish there was a way to soom in or something.
Overall though it's full of great content. Already gotten a lot of info I hadn't thought about before and i'm not even 1/4 through the course yet.

Post | Matt D posted in PLO: Getting back into the game

Hey everyone.

I used to play a lot of poker. I did very well playing live NLH & PLO at Foxwoods, was mostly breakeven at PLO online, was losing at NLH online. I did win a little bit in 8game but being from the US I don't really have access to those games anymore.

I stopped playing live right at the end of 2010. I stopped playing because I went through big life changes. Met a girl and we had a daughter (we have 3 daughters now). She really didn't understand poker at all. I used to go to work at 7am, get out at 3:30, go home and take a shower and sleep for a few hours, drive to Foxwoods and play all night till I had to leave and drive the hour back to work. I did that 2 or 3 times a week and went 2 weekends every month. the times I'd go and have losing sessions she just couldn't understand so I ended up stopping my visits to the casino. So I upped my online volume, but of course just a few months into 2011 black Friday hit and that was it for her. I didn't have a huge amount of $ online but it was enough.... So that was basically it for me playing. I took maybe 5 or 6 trips to Foxwoods over the next 9 years.

I really missed playing so last year i jumped back in. Deposited very little money on ACR to try out the micros to get my feet wet again and boy oh boy has the game changed.

I've played a total of 37,076 hands of PLO2 on ACR and damn I need a lot of work lol

I'm making this thread with the intention of posting hands and monthly, maybe even weekly graphs, and to hold my self accountable. I just got myself the FTGU PLO course and diving in.

Thanks for reading!

Comment | Matt D commented on Solver graphics

I completely agree. I even hooked my laptop up to my TV to see if i'd be able to make out all the graphics when Emty was using Monker but I still couldn't make out the cards other than what suit the cards were.
