Hey guys sorry for the delayed update. I have been busy looking for a new apartment, starting up school, and focusing alot on studying my game and getting better which has been going pretty smoothly. Here is some graph porn.

I think the hand was played fine real question is bluff river? vs Reg.

Im gonna sit down and write up a schedule as with alot of RL responsibilities coming up i need to schedule my grinding hours. Put the gym goal on hold for the moment as im just super busy looking for this place. Goal is to get settled in some where by the middle of February so will pick back up with the work out unless i have serious time to go.

Ok guys seems the variance monster has reared its ugly head mixed with some poor play, mental game issues, and a horrible shot at 400nl. So im going to add some goals to this thread for the rest of the month of January.

  1. Before every session no matter what im going to make sure im well fed.
  2. Implement a pregame warm up which consist of a couple mins of deep breathing techniques, followed by two mins of review of what we want to accomplish this can very on particulars of my game im working on, motivation towards goals, or just generalized techniques.
  3. NO MORE ELECTRONICS AFTER 2AM. Most of my tables die out around 2 and start to die around 1. I try to schedule my sessions earlier in the week and schedule my job later in the week with G/F on the weekend. I think part of mental leak is just lack of sleep and playing at night is -EV as lower volume.
  4. Im going to drop table volume down to 10 see how that fairs. At 1/2 i can still achieve the 20k points if its mostly 1/2 and the 200nl volume has been over flowing lately.
  5. To follow up on some of the earlier points im going to reintroduce a schedule. It helped me manage my time before so i think it might help now.
  6. Spend more time studying the game. I have access to most of the training websites but have been lacking in utilizing the resource while supplementing it with volume.

Look forward to stepping back at the end of the month to see what kind of progress i have made on this.

Well had another rough session today put in some serious volume tho.

I really feel like i played solid. The graph doesn't even show the 10 runner runner or absolute brutal coolers on the river just reflects All in EV i suppose. I recall players playing 58o and 52o and flopping boats and me having a nut flush etc. Bank roll is about $13,400k atm.

Aside from being proud of the session in terms of playing well i am also happy about the volume i made it to a little shy of 4,300 points which means i only have to get another 700 points before the end of tomorrow. Its about midnight now i might play another 2 hours not sure. Heres a hand i had vs a very good reg capable of turning his hand into a bluff.

Well just got done a 18 hour session getting unstuck if you will. Started the year off right on a $2k down swing the first $1,000 i reviewed after the session could only find about a half a BI of mistakes just some variance i think. The 2nd session we slipped 4 more BIs with some suck outs etc.

This graph doesn't include a $500 hand i won hitting a set of QQ to crack AA preflop at 400nl nor does it include rakeback so i have my self at about even when all is said and done plus or minus a hundo.

In terms of mental game im happy about overall play. My main goal for the long session today was to break my sleep cycle as i need to hit the gym tomorrow morning lolDegenStatus.

I made it a while without calling anyone a fish or whale today but eventually i fell into my own trap. I also managed to play like 15 hours without checking bank roll during session but i broke that rule to :(. Going to start fresh tomorrow on both of those. Practice makes perfect and rome wasn't built in a day. I think i can break those habits by year end tho.

My ongoing goal each month is to hit 20k points which nets me roughly $3,000 in RB. The weekly brake down obviously being 5k points. So far this week i have accumulated 2.6k points so that leaves us with 2.4k points to go between the 6th and 7th otherwise i have to make it up to me. Falling behind is not really an option but considering on good days where i start at the right time i can clear 1.5k points its not really a huge task.

I will post some hands once i go through a thorough review of the last couple sessions over the weekend. Also thx for the nutritional advice really appreciate it.

I also clarified my statement below to respond to steves comment

Its not that hard of a concept to understand my coach showed me relevant large samples of winning players who were showing a profit opening all PP in midstakes games. Not spewing much post flop except in obv cbetting spots. The research was done by Alan Jackson and passed down to him. We also looked at his samples which consisted of several million hands. Seems like enough proof to me. Where would you prefer i get the relevant information a cabbie in NYC?

Ahh i get you now i apologize didn't mean to come off like that was just reiterating what i was taught by Keysar and the results i get from it. Unfortunately Keysar is recovering from being in a coma right now so i might not ever be able to get the answer from you as he taught me that during our coaching but if he ever comes back ill ship you the info.

Jan. 3, 2015 | 7:40 a.m.

Why can't i possibly be sure? Alan Jackson who has studied thousands of relevant large samples made the claim actually not me. I was coached by his prodigy Keysar months ago and have been opening PP ever since seeing the results of Jackson's work. You could just ask me why i think this instead of having an ego. I am sure people take you seriously.....

Thx for the info ill bring the info up with my nutritionist and do some poking around my self.

Opening all PP is actually slightly plus EV but players tend to spew post flop making it -EV if you cant trust your postflop play i would say open 66 or 77+. These are my ranges from UTG

You can open the wheel suited aces if you are getting 3bet alot or you want to broaden your range. I put them into my 4bet range vs wide 3bets.

MP range

Here in MP same deal for the A6-A9s with A9s being a better flatting hand.

I think someone asked for results this sample is a little off as i was dealing with some tilt issues but its decent none the less for 1/2 and 2/4

Yes Keysar from 2+2 he is out of the coma now but it will take a year or more to recover and the doctors do not know if he will make a full recovery its very sad. Not sure what you mean by the metabolism comment. Its true that a high metabolism allows you to burn off fat faster right?

Hello all i am Matt i go by the name Mario64 on Borgata Poker in NJ. First i would like to talk a little bit about my accomplishments over the past year, growth as a poker player, and a little back ground. So i started 2013 bouncing back from a bad swing of playing 1/2 starting at 50nl with a bank roll at about $2,500. Around late may i started coaching with a great poker coach named Keysar. Unfortunately Keysar was in a car accident and is recovering from a coma but he was one of the best out there and his knowledge on the game jumped my game to new levels. It wasn't until last month that i was able to figure out some finalized concepts of the game and really start to crush the small/mid stakes. I ended the year with a bank roll of about $18,000 and now play 10-12 tables ranging between 100nl and 400nl depending on volume of the site as its a smaller player pool.

In my personal time i still go to school as a computer scientist(Which is hard considering my weekly hour requirements toward grinding) and i have a part time job performing Quality Assurance for a software development company(Luckily from home) during the day time hours. Its def a rough schedule but hopefully its a small sacrifice until i am able to complete my degree and have a decent enough income. A task i hope to accomplish this year.

So i want to be upfront and clear one of my goals is not to get my goal to $125,000 it is just my projected amount based on planned rakeback and average bb/100. Also $125k is the number i plan withdrawing $25,000 and giving it to my father for his start up business. He has fallen on tough times as a whole sale fish seafood provider and needs an added boost. I really wish to see his dreams come true in a realistic time frame before he gets to old.

Volume is critical on Borgata poker with my planned volume i can get up to $36k in RB/bonuses from promos. This is not alot to me as the same volume on stars would be double that in RB but the games are softer so who is complaining. I am hoping to get 1.5m hands in total and want about 40 hours per week minimum to achieve this goal.

It is my opinion the number one reason that decent regs lose long term is bank roll management and tilt issues. I like most players have struggled with the mental aspect of poker this year and have made great strides in researching and applying fixes to such issues. My 2nd goal is to build on this mental foundation and push my self to play closest to my A game everyday constantly evolving within the inch worm hierarchy and building my mental game this year.

This year i have taken on other variants outside of NLHE taking up PLO and beating those games for several thousand. I want to expand upon my Omaha research and get better at the game as the games are super juicy and hold a lot of money in it.

Online poker is great in terms of mental exercise but one of its major detriments is in the physical realm. Staying sedentary for 8-12 hours of the active day is horrible for your body, diet, and ultimately your game. With being so busy i have neglected my body in a negative way and want to start the new year off right even if that means getting an assistant to help me with dietary and cooking needs. I have signed up for a real nice gym where im paying about $75 a month(Hopefully more motivating) that has personal trainers that are very active in your progress(Another plus). I am realistic about weight loss so i will set the goal at a realistic bar. I hope to lose about 30-40 pounds this year in a healthy way. On top of this i want to start eating a balanced diet with 3 square meals a day and two or three small snacks and or meals. This will help with metabolism. Building a good metabolism is key to keeping the weight off.

For US players paying taxes are very important so keeping accurate records are critical. Hold em manager is a great resource for this but it doesn't collect the full story. Sometimes my RB and Bonuses are just estimations or i lose track of reloads etc. Also sometimes my site or HM crashes and misses hundreds of dollars is lost hands. So to fix this i am moving my records to a win session loss session excel sheet and making it session based to total my winning and losing session totals to make it easier on me in terms of record keeping.

One of the cool goals i have set forth for myself is to start up my own Youtube channel. I will probably post Video blogs on it to run along side my updates. Another cool thing is i will be doing video reviews of micro players throughout the year. I think giving back to poker is a big thing as i have gained so much from other players generosity on skype groups etc.

My 2nd to last goal is to find a decent high stakes coach that i respect and take out some money and continue my education of the game. Imo its important to always have a better player in the game who you can go to for advice and guidance regardless of stakes or ego. Also obviously one of my constant goals is to always study my game and other material to advance my self as well.

I think my last goal is something Dusty Schmidt and Jared Tendler both talk about is not looking at your cashier during play. This sucks so bad i am constantly looking and it is just a distraction or a mental game changer when seeing hundreds of dollars switch in either direction. I also notice that i am more in the game when i don't look. Unfortunately if i want to keep track of the session for tax purposes i will have to look prior to and after the session which i don't mind. My mental game has evolved and i am so overolled for my limits that it doesn't shift me one way or the other but i think it will improve my game if i don't look during the session. I think this will be the hardest goal by far as its something i habitually do.

So currently my bankroll is at $14,600 i had to withdraw $2k for school and $2k for a brand new laptop. In Febuary and March i will have to withdraw a total of $4,000 so essentially i am starting the year with $10,000. Another benefit of breaking $100k this year will be to prove to myself that i am capable of having a yearly income that is sustainable outside of my job. This does not mean not achieving this goal means i can't as variance is real and we have to live with our low and high projections. Mainly the goals i will strive hardest to achieve is the volume goals as that is the most important. I will also be posting this on 2+2 so others can follow along. I look forward to sharing this experience with everyone and good luck in 2015!!!! :)
