well, depending on how good V is, his thinking could be "...hmmm, I'v got a nice mid rundown and that UTG OR is very often AAXX/KKXX so i'll 3b in pos, and see a flop, if I hit 2pr+ i'll go with it, cause he'll be sitting there with one pair"
when we 4b he says"...this guy definitely has AAXX and i heard somewhere that a mid rundown is ok against that. and now there's 64bb in the middle so i can shove or fold otf depending on how i hit.
not sure it's correct thinking by the math but i reckon it goes on that way often at these stakes.
Anyway fwiw. Love the thread/discussion overall

hmmm. i was just doing the basic counting our outs approach. might go plug it into equilab and see what that says. thanks for pointing that out.

yes, but that you still won't beat it without good fundamentals and hand reading ability

What do you think about only flatting the the preflop 3b and check flop. probably call a flop bet.
if the turn improves your equity play as fits and x/f if turn is no help.
PLO is a post flop game and playing oop is a bitch
June 25, 2015 | 12:22 a.m.
unless i'm misunderstanding something you've got 13 outs to a boat or the NF. So about 26% with the river to come. so you need to be getting 3:1 to justify the $4.01 call ott (pot is $6.46 at that point as far as i can see) so you're getting $6 .46 to $4.01 or about 1.5:1.
based on that i'd fold.the turn

I'd suggest here for posting and discussing hands rather than 2+2. I've been there for a few years and i feel the feedback is more constructive and supportive here at RIO than over there. depends on your tastes i guess. Good luck, share lot's of hand, ask lots of questions and have a study timetable (this bit isn't optional). Also, feel free to comment / question other posted hand histories. It's definitely a critical learning method.
As far as PT4 goes, (I have HM2 but they're pretty similar) i'm a fan of the "start with the big picture, ask why is that......? then dive down into the detail to build your knowledge of what's going on so you can adjust your play to get your results where you want them,
So; I start with the blue and the red lines on you cash results graphs (make sure you've got a decent sample size)
Your blue line is your results for hands that went to show down, so that's effected most by looking at the hands you start with and your ability to hand / opponent read to make sure you if you get to showdown your ahead more often than not.
your blue line must be always trending upwards
the Red line shows what you've lost without going to showdown
So, it's probably most effected by things like calling flop raises with weak hands then having to fold to turn bet,
a critical impact on your red line is the blinds. Whenever you're in the blinds and fold preflop you're losing 1/2 or 1 bb.
this effect alone, cause playing hands out of position in PLO is the WORST, means that your red line is most likely always trending down. your job is to keep the downward trend to minimum.
having said all that I should confess that would not qualify myself as a winning player but having applied the above thought processes over the last month or so I'm definitely noticing a change in results.
Good luck, hope to hear about your journey to winning!!

Thanks for all the comments. Hugely appreciate it. It all rally illustrated I need to give a lot more thought to how I'm constructing some if my ranges. My results in 3b pots pretty much suck and I think the reason is crappy range construction.

I've been fooling around with less than pot bets to see what it would do to the red line but too early to say anything much

Thanks for the great feedback
It's interesting.
I didn't raise cause i was basically scared that we'd wiff and be pot committed but with the points you've made it shouldn't be a move to scared of most times.
Will look for all similar spots when i do HH reviews later today.
Had a shocker in the last 48hrs so back to the study!
Thanks heaps

Agree KKxx is a set mine hand. (Did I say that wrong?)
May 6, 2015 | 4:15 a.m.
Given the action wouldn't V have to hate either B'way str8 w b'door hearts or a set? Do we find players at these stakes always raising
Kkxx pre? (I didn't think so but I'm so new to figuring this game out). I'd fold.
May 5, 2015 | 11:02 p.m.
At 7:45 you decide to check call the river. I'm an absolute beginner at this so please forgive if it's a silly question but why check call when stacks remaining are only about 30% of pot and you're OOP. When the only bet size V's going to make is the lot aren't we losing some fold equity and by not taking the initiative?

thanks heaps. Really enjoying the everything on the site and have had a couple of really good sessions employing things i saw in the video (maybe variance but I'd like to think otherwise).

My second day as a member. LOVED the one table / deeper explanation format. Absolutely crushes the 4 table "mad rush" approach imo. Joined so i can start actually making a dollar but have to start at the micros. Both you and Jack M seem to open WAY more hands than i do but with much greater reference to position / prior action, from which position and board texture. Gave this approach a crack at PLO5 for one session after watching and it was a completely different game, (and crushed it for about 3 BI). Did i just discover the "opposable thumb" of PLO?

HI, Just signed up so my first video. Really enjoyed it. Took some notes so maybe lift my wr.
One thing, some explanation of some close folds would really be helpful. There were a couple of hands on the "other" table that looked like they could go each way that you elected to fold.
No need to chase back through this video but might be a good addition to future sessions.
Thanks heaps!
Mike
Yeah EquiLab's giving me 32% but I can't really see where the extra %'s are coming from.
Thoughts?
