Hi liftedmindset,
I really like your line of thinking, I think that the two calls are good, but I must be folding river because the reasons you pointed. A very usefull answer.
Ty a lot.

Ty Jackmania.
I think that you made a very good point on the weakness of my hand with the dangler and position, and the posibility of limping that hand on "maniac tables", but, you know, I feel like if I was not going to raise AKJ5 double suited to the A and the K, I had to go to bed inmediatilly!!

Ty for the comment Jimmy.
UTG+1 is a very aggresive regular, with solid stats pre, but the kind of guy who is capable of applying pressure if he has some equity and the board hits his range hard.
I dont think he is passive at all, but Im still with doubts about my river call.

March 7, 2015 | 1:09 a.m.

UTG (Hero, 152€) raise 1,75 with Ad Ks Jd 5s
UTG +1 (TAG reg, 97€) raise 5,75
CO (Unknown, 11,25€) calls
Everyone folds, Hero calls.

Flop (18€) As 7d 5c
Hero checks
Villain bets 10,50
CO fold
Hero calls

Turn (39€) As 7d 5c 3s
Hero checks
Villain bets 22
Hero calls

River (83) As 7d 5c 3s Jh
Hero checks
Villain bets 58,75 allin

My first question is about the turn play. Should I c/shove this turn, or its better to make the call?
In game I thought that I was behind his value range (AAxx, even if I block an A, 77RR, or some kind of rundown that made a straight) and Im crushing his semibluffing hands (KKxx with spades, some kind of wrap like 6789, or some kind of hand who cbets and picked up spades on turn), and I thought too that he is going to continue his bluffs on river, so I made the call.

The second question is, do I have to call the river?
I thought that I was so high up in my range that blabla, and I block some value hands like AA, JJ, 55...but I don't block any six, or four, or nothing that blocks the wrap, and I do block spades, which is bad for me. I also thought that is a very good river prize, and I ended up calling.
Villain shows 2345cchh and won the pot.

I want to post a hand I played yesterday with one of this guys at PLO50;

SB (54) was dealt 3♦️6♦️7♣️8♠️

BB (Hero 52) was dealt K♣️K♦️Q♣️Q♥️

Every one folds to the SB who raises to 1,50

Hero reraises 4,50.

SB calls

Flop Q♦️8♣️4♠️

SB checks.

Hero bets 5,50.

SB raises to 17,50!!!

Hero pots allin

SB calls...

I win this hand, but I want to think a bit about it.

Since I'm going to cbet this board with my overpairs, my queens, some 8x like 89TJ with FBD, and some bluffs with very low equity that I 3bet in SB vs BB scenario like 3377, and I'm folding to his c/r in this dry board EVERYTHING but sets and top2, I think that his c/r with a pair and a GS is profitable against me. I think he is exploiting me.

What do you think about this?

Hey guys, thanks for the comments.

@Darley;

Leaving the table because a player is 3betting me IP is out of cuestion for me. I want to improve my game and face the villian, not run out of it.

I also think that I'm 4betting enough my strong hands, but is true that I don't really like this high variance play.

I have PT4, and I see that they are 3betting all the premium hands, high to low rundowns, every Axxs and every ss hand. They are squeezing all this hands too. They continue in all the boards where they think they have "any" equity, and barrels a lot.

@Cthulu;

I really like TAG play, and I still going with it. I don't think poker is a "balls" cuestion. :)

I'm not getting crazy with my continue bets, I think. They are doing that, not me.

I agree and apreciate the other points you mencioned. The turn play can be the key with this guys, and I don't have to do stupid things just for not feeling exploitable.

@C-bet;

Short and clear. I like it.

Thank you all for the comments!!

Post | Lucuspoker posted in PLO: Problems with maniacs

Hi runitoncers!

I have been playing PLO50-100 for last 2 years. I think Im at the TAG side, my numbers looks like 27/21/9. Im having problems with this guys who are potting every hand preflop, 3betting a lot, and betting big a lot of streets, and I dont know exactly what to do with my ranges. I feel like they are exploiting me for overfolding. I think that his strategy is a lot more exploitable than mine, but I dont really know how to do it. I just feel lost in some spots where I see myself calling flop just with second pair and feeling stupid when my hand dont improve and I have to throw it into the muck on the river after losing 2 bets.

I have been 4betting those guys a decent amount with hands that have a good hot equity (thanks Coldwell's Hot and Cold equity), and shoving almost any flop. But they are always calling-deciding flops, and this is not working for me at the time. I also have seen Coldwell's "how to play maniacs", but it doesn't work too. I feel like they are narrowing my own range preflop a tone, becouse I focus on playing against this guys tighter than my usual play.

Maybe it's just that I'm running bad in that 4bet spots where you play for your hole stack, but I dont really know.

And thats it!! I wait your coments!

Hi André,

At min 24 you call a 3bet with KJ94ss, c/c on flop with top pair and a gutshot, and you turned second nuts when you hit your gutshot.

What would you do if he continues betting on river? I think its relevant that a backdoor flush came on the river and he could be double-barreling here with some AA with the nut flush draw and with the blockers to the nut straight and he could be doing the same on river with the nut flush blocker because his hand on this board dont seems to be good at a showdown after you called twice, and

What would you do if a non diamond brick hits the river and he continues betting?

I like the video but I prefer a sesion rewiew at this same level for the same reasons that mencioned Joseph Calderon.

Post | Lucuspoker posted in PLO: Help with stats please!!

Hi all.

I just get PT4 on my Mac, and I want to know about which are the most common percentage for some stats. I mean, which are the optimal percentages for this stats:

Vpip

Prf

Af

WSD

I really don't know if a player is too loose or too tight, too aggressive or not, or if he is going to showdown more often than usual. I don´t know it for myself either!!

Thank you guys!!

Congrats for ur first video Stefan. I really enjoy it.

I just want to say that I agree in part with Snowman what concerns at the QQ44 hand. I expected the villain to c/r in this spot with a lot of set combos more than draw combos, and I think there are very reasons for that. The first is that the buttom is short stack, and he would expect him to bet after checking into him with a wide range, and then he can shove comfortabily into you. The second reason, is that a dry set (like 99JK) dont play very well (just ok) on turns after getting called, but a combo draw (like those u mencioned, I mean A89Ts) plays fairly well, and u dont have to fear a raise on flop neither. U can go allin with the butom and just flat ur raise and see the turn, u know...

And one more thing, if the turn comes a heart, I think he is continuing with a part of his range that u have beat, I mean, a hand with a set and a lower flush draw like 899Ts, which is a hand that he is surely opening and definitively c/r, but that u have crushed on a heart turn and he is going to continue with, and you are inclined to fold your hand.

Well, this are only some thougts I have, and I want to share with u, but sure I am wrong in some part

Thank you for the video and the explanations, I expect a new video soon.

Comment | Lucuspoker commented on Hot and Cold Equity

Thank you Tom!!! Thats exactelly what I needed. I actually saw your video "combating crazies, and I really like it very much, but in this case, I was looking for defense against those really maniacs who pots every preflop and street, and this work of Hot-Cold equity, really helps.

Very nice job!! Thank you

Comment | Lucuspoker commented on Hot and Cold Equity

At first time, thank you Tom for this video, a really very usefull tool agains short stacks. I have been playing PLO 25, 50 and 100 for a year with very good results, and I nociced that that limits are getting very agressive. The type of player who 3bets light over 40% (or more) of his range, is becoming a typicall player on those games, even regular players. But I have a few questions to do if the effective stack is not short, I mean, about 100bbs or more, against that type of player. I thougt you can help me at this point so...

1. What happens if after our 4bet (with the estimate profitable range of your video, I mean, big pair hands, ds high rundowns, big ds pairs etc), the villain is only 5bet/shove you with his AAxx hands?

If you do the maths, you can see that we are not in a good shape to get allin pre against Aces, and...

2. What happens if with the other part of his range, he is flat calling your 4bet, leaving a Stack Pot Ratio under 1 (with 100bbs) or between 1 or 2 with larger stacks?

I assume that villain is competent and is call/shoving on flop any pair or any draw so...

3. Do you think we really have an equity edge against that type of villains play?

I tried to do the maths myself, but it is very hard to me with my current knowledge. And, finally,

4. Dont you think this is going to create a high variance play, that we could avoid by playing more "small ball"?

If our skills post flop are better than villain, why we have to create a situacion of such high variance?

And thats all. Thank you very much.
