I play live plo in uncapped home games with relatively weak player pools and I try and play a deepstack strategy where I buy in deeper than most stacks at the table. I consider my skill at deepstack plo to be very strong compared to the other players in my player pool, however my skills are weak when it comes to inflated multiway pots with low spr. Specifically with a range of stack sizes, and frequent straddles and restraddles happening in the game, there are several pots which go multi way involving 4 or 5+ players, these pots can have very low sprs relative to a lot of the players’ stacks in the hand. My question is how aggressive I should be in these pots – when do I bet-commit rather than bet-fold or check fold .. what kind of hands do well in these situations and are profitable to play preflop and which hands should be thrown away? Can I play as wide of a range as my opponents are playing.. ie call with anything playable when the action comes around to me or should I stick to a tight range or even a super tight range.. I would like to know specifically which hands I can play profitably and which hands I cannot because I will play any hand to give action even if it is only marginally profitable, however I would like to avoid situations where I am setting myself up for failure. Given the SPRs many times if I have a piece of the flop, I will want to “go with it” and then run into a hand or many hands that dominate me. Particularly if I am in early position .. are these hands mini coolers or am I setting my self up for poor reverse implied situations preflop. If the range of hands that my opponents can play in these situations range between top 30% of hands to 60% of hands (if they are one of the later players in or have blinds or straddles invested etc..) I realize that this is quite an encompassing question and probably doesn’t have an easy answer but I was hoping you could guide me in my thinking here as well as where I can find resources to handle these types of situations whether it be content on this site or elsewhere.
