I know Chael mentioned it at the beginning of the thread, but just wanted to mention it again: Shorthanded NL play - HU and 3/4-Handed. Starting tables is a good thing.

Also - a video on an instructor's thoughts about having an open-limping strategy in the small blind perhaps? Positives, negatives, when it can be a viable option, etc. (Doesn't need to be super long and go into tons of detail, but it sounds/looks like a very interesting style to have).

Love the site.

Great Video.

Comment | Green_in_Colour commented on QQ river spot

I play super micro stakes - but wanted to ask: what would the plan be if hero had a hand like KQ on the river?

Is betting the turn with KQ super standard? Would a river shove be way too thin?

Your HUD seems really simple (not in a bad way) - do you use a lot of popups?

June 22, 2013 | 2:41 p.m.

Really good video - learn a ton watching you play.

June 22, 2013 | 7:40 a.m.

Fair enough, against that tight range we're in trouble.
The fact that OP said villain had made this play vs. him a few times (granted over a small sample), lead me to think that he's possibly doing this with a fairly wide range (which could be a big mistake).

Are we basically calling down on blank turns and rivers?

June 19, 2013 | 8:41 a.m.

Agreed, I play 5NL and a lot of the time the min-raise on the flop isn't particularly strong.
Against a 36/1, get the money in.

June 19, 2013 | 8:19 a.m.

Thanks very much for the post, appreciated.

With regards to my question: should we be checking or making a smallish value bet if villain had checked the river, or is it a bit too thin?

June 18, 2013 | 10:35 a.m.

BN: $5 (Hero)
SB: $7.59
BB: $3.14
UTG: $4.75
HJ: $8.66
CO: $5.12
Only 16 hands on BB - was playing 19/13, hadn't 3bet.
Preflop ($0.07) (6 Players)
Hero was dealt K Q
UTG folds, HJ folds, CO folds, Hero raises to $0.11, SB folds, BB calls $0.06
Flop ($0.24) 7 Q T (2 Players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.16, BB calls $0.16
Turn ($0.56) 7 Q T 6 (2 Players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.42, BB calls $0.42
River ($1.40) 7 Q T 6 J (2 Players)
BB bets $1.34
Villain bets pot on the river and I don't see many hands that I beat when he takes this line - just busted FDs?
Thoughts?

Question: if villain had not lead, should I still be value-betting the river? (Or is it too thin?)

Thanks.

BN: $9.34
SB: $5
BB: $8.44
UTG: $5.13 (Hero)
HJ: $11.71
CO: $5
Never played with villain before, so no stats
Preflop ($0.07) (6 Players)
Hero was dealt 6 6
Hero raises to $0.15, HJ folds, CO folds, BN folds, SB folds, BB calls $0.10
Flop ($0.32) A 6 K (2 Players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.23, BB calls $0.23
Turn ($0.78) A 6 K Q (2 Players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.56, BB raises to $1.40
Thoughts?
AA, and KK, are probably getting 3bet close to 100% of the time (QQ probably as well)
If he did flat with QQ preflop, I don't know how often villain is calling the flop

If villain flatted with AK preflop, should he be check/raising this kind of turn (if he didn't check/raise the flop)?
AQ is probably just calling the turn bet?

If I give villain a narrow "value" range of say:
{JTs}, {AK}, {AhJh}, {AhTh} - I'm in pretty good shape

Is this just a super easy jam against an unknown?

Thanks.

BN: $5.69 (Hero)
SB: $5
BB: $5.42
UTG: $7.95
HJ: $5
CO: $5.57
CO is playing 23/20 over ~170 hands - opening 35% from the CO, fold to 3bet of 40%
Preflop ($0.07) (6 Players)
Hero was dealt T Q
UTG folds, HJ folds, CO raises to $0.17, Hero raises to $0.53, SB folds, BB folds, CO raises to $1.15, Hero calls $0.62
3betting as a bluff - I have played a bit with this player before and we have 3bet each other fairly often in the past (Zoom and regular tables) Hadn't 3bet this player this session though.

Should I just be folding to this 4bet? Villain has a 4bet percentage of 40% and a 4bet range of 10 (over a really small sample)
When I was playing this hand, I felt like this player was 4betting pretty light in this spot (given our previous encounters), and decided to flat the 4bet and play a pot in position.
Flop ($2.54) 6 8 5 (2 Players)
CO bets $1.25, Hero calls $1.25
Calling here is standard?
Turn ($5.04) 6 8 5 A (2 Players)
CO checks, Hero bets $3.27
Do I have any fold equity on this card?
This shove feels like spew - the Ace is probably a lot more in his range than in mine?

Should I just be checking back here, looking to hit my flush?

Overall, thought I played this pretty badly.
Thoughts?

Thanks.

BN: $3.84
SB: $5
BB: $9.97
UTG: $5.27
HJ: $13.63
CO: $5.61 (Hero)
Not many hands on UTG - was playing 16/13 over ~40 hands.
No notes on villain.
Preflop ($0.07) (6 Players)
Hero was dealt A 7
UTG raises to $0.17, HJ calls $0.17, Hero calls $0.17, BN folds, SB folds, BB calls $0.12
Decided to call preflop - MP was playing 60/0 over a small sample, and BB was playing 40/16 over about 60 hands.
Flop ($0.70) K 7 7 (4 Players)
BB checks, UTG bets $0.35, HJ folds, Hero calls $0.35, BB folds
Turn ($1.40) K 7 7 3 (2 Players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $0.88, UTG raises to $2.05
Thoughts? UTG is repping a pretty small range of value hands, board is pretty dry and I doubt he's doing this with AK. Don't know how many 7x hands are in his UTG opening range, plus I block a lot of 7x anyway.

Call turn?

Thanks.

Can you go over your HUD stats in a bit more detail please? (Looks very different to your HUD from previous videos)

Great video.

Hand History | Green_in_Colour posted in NLHE: AQ - 3bet pot
HJ: $4.76

BN: $9.02
SB: $5.06 (Hero)
BB: $8.04
CO was playing 33/29 over a really small sample.
Wasn't fully stacked, so possibly a weaker player?
Preflop ($0.07) (5 Players)
Hero was dealt Q A
HJ folds, CO raises to $0.15, BN folds, Hero raises to $0.50, BB folds, CO calls $0.35
Flop ($1.07) 2 7 T (2 Players)
Hero bets $0.55, CO calls $0.55
Turn ($2.17) 2 7 T J (2 Players)
Is this a good card to be betting again?

I picked up some more outs, but the Jack hits his preflop and flop calling range pretty hard. I also have the Ace of hearts, so there are probably less flushes in his range as well?

March 6, 2013 | 8:36 a.m.

Nice, thanks for the post, really appreciate it.
With the 66 hand, he called flop, and a blank turn, the river checked through.

Maybe I read too much into the info I had.

One note I had on him was earlier in the session he c/c with 66 on QT8tt (BB vs. BTN)

Hero raises to $0.15, CO folds, BN calls $0.15, SB folds, BB folds
Flop ($0.37) J K Q (2 Players)
Hero bets $0.23, BN calls $0.23
With how loose the villain was, I thought that betting the flop for value was correct as I could get value from quite a few weaker hands.
My bet should have been much bigger though, don't know why I bet so small.
Turn ($0.83) J K Q 8 (2 Players)

Against such a player I feel like there is still some value in betting on the turn, or is it a bit thin?

Getting to the river, I think checking (and probably folding) is best?

March 5, 2013 | 11 a.m.

If villain calls the flop bet and the turn checks through, what's the plan against a standard / unknown opponent
if they lead the river? (Turn and/or river are overcard(s), and we don't improve)

I struggle a fair amount in these kind of spots. Is folding most of the time a leak?

March 4, 2013 | 4:45 p.m.

I know it's a small sample, but is villain folding/calling a lot vs. 3bets on the button?

Thoughts on maybe check/calling the turn?

March 2, 2013 | 8:42 a.m.

With a hand like JT or QJ, should we be calling the turn and folding the river almost always?

Feb. 28, 2013 | 11:35 a.m.

When you start your sessions - do you go out of your way to try create an aggressive dynamic (pre and postflop) with a certain player(s) / the table in general, or do you mainly just focus on picking good spots?

Some videos you seem a lot more aggressive overall.

Thanks.

Feb. 27, 2013 | 5:15 a.m.

Bottom left table, at ~ 03:35 - you defend your big blind with T7o against a 3x open from a small blind that seems like a weaker/recreational player (SB has about 60BB stack).

Is this a standard defend for you blind versus blind?
Would you be defending this hand against a typical regular in these games?

Thanks.

Feb. 27, 2013 | 5:06 a.m.

Awesome video.

Would be cool to watch you playing lower stakes at some stage.

Feb. 24, 2013 | 6:41 a.m.

Yea, would also like to know what's the best plan on the river if we check.
Against a tight(ish) player, folding to a reasonably sized bet would be best?

Jan. 18, 2013 | 1:20 p.m.

~4:20 - top left table: you 3bet a CO open with J9o from the BTN (CO looked like a regular), the SB (possible recreational player) cold calls, and the CO comes along as well.
You flop middle pair.
~8:50 - after the hand ends you speak about taking the option of betting over checking a street when the decision is pretty close. Are you mainly taking this approach more when you're in position?

Also, without reads, is this a good default play in a HU pot? Seem to struggle in spots where I have a moderately strong hand which I wouldn't be comfortable bet/calling with.

Hope this was worded okay and made sense.

Great video.

Jan. 5, 2013 | 11:34 a.m.

Really good video - made me realize I don't use my HUD nearly as effectively as I could. Also need to plan hands better.

Wanted to ask: Which do you prefer more: Zoom or regular tables?

Thanks, looking forward to watching more of your videos.
