Does this change if you are playing in very soft games (fish who call very wide and regs who dont 3bet much) and/or with higher than average rake (american sites)?

The 2 sites I play on offer a button that allows you to open to 2x and another button for 3x. If you want to do 2.2x or 2.5x you have to manually type it - which can be annoying and lead to mis-clicks when playing 6-8 tables of different stakes. If your options were 2x and 3x, and the game was softer than average, and the rake higher than average - is it reasonable to be using the 3x size? Or is the EV difference great enough that I should either 2x or just manually type in a 2.3x?
