Hey Qing Yang, nice video!

I have a question. At 25:48, you pure check the Q7h and lucid agrees. But I'm sure you have seen spots where solvers like to double barrel with the turned pair on the turn since it blocks some of the strongest hands on villain's range (e.g. 77, K7s, J7s, 87o). Why do you think it did not happen on this spot?

I have a question, Steve. I see your skill level, the way you play hands and it is all very reasonable and congruent with solver's outputs. For that reason, I think it is crazy that a player like you only play midstakes. Have you been crushing your games for a huge win rate? What do you think are the skill level disparities (if any) between you and highstakes crushers ? (I ask this because I want to know where should one look to evolve when he is already at a super high level. How to find areas to improve?).

Cheers

Mad respect for the honesty regarding shot taking and not running so well during the initial stages. One of the things that annoy me the most nowadays in the poker community is lack of transparency with results/ only sharing winning sessions, so big kudos to you.

I do have a question about a hand though:
@9:48 You say you do not like to bluff when you have the diamonds combo, but isn't that pretty irrelevant if we consider that villain is almost certainly cbetting with range on that spot? Well, I guess you're right and it is probably slightly better to give up the diamonds combos since villain will continue vs our turn bet more often when he does not have diamonds (since more of our flop floats will contain diamond, which will lead to us bluffing with diamonds more often on turn). But still I would say almost irrelevant if villain is betting range on flop, agreed?

Believe it or not, my first time watching a video of yours!

I have a question. At 5:30, why did you check KK behind on the left table? KK still seems pretty strong. You are still ahead of some draws, 9x hands and some 6x, and it might be difficult to get value from them on most rivers, so why not just bet turn?

Very interesting video! Really like this format too. Looking forward to next one

Tariq Haji I was thinking exactly the same thing. I don't 3b a lot of suited Qx from the BB with these positions either, and I checked my sim and in this situation QTs is betting very high freq.

thejericho2 Yeah that makes a lot of sense. I am familiar with this thought process, I just guess I was having trouble ascertaining whether or not a hand like 55 or 66 or A8s would like to barrel turn. They still could get some protection for lots of hands so I thought a small size could be used, but you got this better than me as only HP is used.

Thank you for the answer

I wish there were more uploads from you! I have a question about this one though:

At 14:02, how did you decide that you wanted to use half pot on the turn? What factors do you consider when deciding to barrel small, medium, or big on this spot?

Chaps playing on this pool is overkill!

Yesterday I was watching your debut video for RIO, and you were saying that in 2018 I believe (your first year taking poker more seriously) you played around 1M hands, but believed that you should start studying more often instead of basically just learn by playing.

What methods have you used to study and improve since then? Did you review a lot of hands in pio? Did you watch RIO videos yourself? Do you have a group of people to discuss hand histories with (who are they)? Or did you just keep using your method of gaining experiece and learning mainly through playing? I'd enjoy learning a bit more about your systems.

Love to see the exploitative content from top pros!

@10:30, You open QJcc from HJ and face a 4x 3b from CO. Are you playing 4bet or fold in this spot? What is the threshold for a 4bet or fold strat in your opinion?

Thing is, online cash games are pretty dead. Grinding high stakes can be quite boring sometimes: not action, etc. Also you are capped on stakes.

Juan Pastor Wow, strong statemente there. Interesting to hear you say that, since most people make fun of the whole "poker is dead" thing.

Sept. 27, 2021 | 3:02 p.m.

Juan Pastor Awesome man. Thanks for the response. Honestly, it was a bit surprising to me that you would stop playing exactly when you've reached a level that you would be able to make the most amount of money in your career. It probably means that trading is going amazing lol.

It's a shame that I only became familiar with your content recently! Now I'm currently watching your interview with the spider-man en el Cafetin (I'm from Brazil so I can understand Spanish pretty well). Good luck!

Amazing journey man! Good luck with everything in the future.

I thought it was very interesting how you were crushing hard on the year that you decided to stop! Was your winrate this high during your first 5-10 years of career? Do you think that beingn around the games for almost 15 years was an advantage you had over the field?

Another question: Was this last year the only year that you took shots at high stakes? That would be sick

Waiting for part 2!

Hey Luke Johnson, great video and we really enjoy the high stakes action! They are great not only because of your analysis, but also because we can see how other top players approach some spots.

Similarly to you, in game I would probably mix between check and bet big with the Q5ss on bottom left @10:00. Do you have anything to say that would make me understand this spot better? My understanding is that our hand is too strong to be reduced as a bluff catcher on the river. In other words, it is a strong hand when we bet and villain's range is wide, but it is reduced to a bluff catcher vs a narrower betting range. That being said, my explanation seems a bit superficial. Is there anything you could add that would help me understand this spot better?

Always good to see your videos! On the QJdd spot at 5:23, what do you think of not having a flatting range? I've seen charts that only 4bet or fold on this spot.

Aug. 6, 2021 | 5:51 p.m.

Video brabo! I think this could be your specialty (mixing theory and practice). There's not a lot of this type of content om RIO and you could become a unique coach if you keep bringing up some content mixing GTO and MDA.

Luke Johnson I have a slight different opinion on the JTcc hands multiway. I think we really don't want to do a lot of betting there with our range, and would prefer bd fd to stab at some frequency. My thought process is based on the fact that we are playing against two ranges that are much stronger than ours at this point on the nutted portion. BB has much more trips than both of us (especially since BB should be squeezing a linear range that is condensed around the broadway region, which leaves most of the 8x hands on the calling range e.g. J8s T8s 86s that are often 3bets vs a BTN RFI); and UTG is likely checking range there so he should have a strong adv. on overpairs. I just think that we should be very careful with this dynamic.

Hey Gary Chappell, thanks for the video. Always appreciated!

At 2:15, you say you want to triple off this hand, but why did you choose this sizing? Most of your value hands want to put a lot of money in the pot. This is the perfect spot for playing overbet or check in my opinion.

At 17:04, talking about the K9dd hand on the replayer, you say that you probably have a nut advantage at this point since BTN should be betting most Tx. But are you really checking some Tx on this spot? Do you think its worth having a checking range on this texture and having to balance it?

Can you try to make a live play video for us?!

One format that seems to be very popular is the one that you play a live session, and then go over the footage with the pio results for the most interesting hands.

Another great video! This time I do have a question though. At 21:00, you say that "villain mostly checks AQo as expected". What are the reasons for AQ to check that much? Before seeing the solution, I would think that AQ would mostly want to bet in order to get value from weaker Q, flush draws and Tx.

More of this format!

Very good video!

Oh okay, if they're there on that percentage, I think it wont matter lol. Keep crushing!

July 22, 2021 | 4:12 p.m.

Hey Gary Chappell,

Very cool video, lots of interesting spots. I am very impressed with your ability to think very clearly in difficult spots like on the full house holding 77 and the last hand that you shoved with AK.

I would like to ask you, to what you attribute this ability to think and break down combos so clearly in game? Do you have any habit on your routine that you think helps you with that (do you practice meditation or other form of focus training)? Or do you think your ability to think clearly like this comes mainly from years and years of practice/study and experience (for how long have you been a pro player)?

Thanks for the answers, keep crushing!

Hey Luke,

I really like your thought process in hands and videos, but can you explain why are some of your ranges so weird. On minute 27:07, we can see your range for SB 3b vs HJ RFI. And you have small offsuit Ax in there like A2-ATo. You could argue they are low frequency, but in reality they should just never be there, and no one 3bets them so why would you have them in your sims?! it will just lead to misleading results imo.
