Long-time player here. I primarily play and crush low/mid-stakes live PLO nowadays, but for the most part I haven't played NLHE seriously in like 15 years since the days of Full Tilt Poker. Occasionally, I'll jump into a live 2/5 NLHE game while I'm waiting for a seat in my preferred PLO game, but I just feel so lost most of the time. I'd like to play higher if there's a good opportunity (I'll play as high as 10/25/50 PLO), but I definitely think I'd be a dog in those games, even if there's a whale.
I have strong general poker fundamentals (EV, range construction, etc.), but the meta has become so strong in NLHE relatively speaking that I don't feel like I have an edge, even in an average 2/5 live game. Probably the biggest gap is not being familiar enough with preflop ranges - defending, 3-betting, etc.
Most full NLHE courses I've seen are geared toward people that aren't familiar with fundamental concepts. Are there any series or video creators who would be recommended to watch for my situation?
Phil, what do you think about limp/folding a very small part of your preflop range in heads up play? For two reasons: (1) your pot odds to see a flop go down (2:1 instead of 3:1) and (2) a raise from BB implies a stronger range that we'll have less equity against.
