"Pot-Limit Omaha Poker" by Jeff Hwang has received equally favorable reviews on Amazon as Dan Deppen's book, but with far more reviewers (8 vs 54). Hwang has also some listings on HendonMob for cashing in several Omaha events, while Deppen has none. Deppen's book is 192 pages and lists on Amazon used for more than $70. Hwang's is 332 pages and sells for less than $12. Both are paperbacks.

Seems like a no-brainer, but check out Amazon's reviews and decide for yourself.

I use the PokerJournal app on my iPhone which includes a note field for each session.  Because it's hard to write a lot of detail while at a table in a game for hand specifics I only write memory joggers and then add to them after the session.

Journal has a separate, very convenient, and easy to use feature that allows you to note player ratings and tendencies (Tight/Loose; Passive/Aggressive); and a custom one of your own choosing, with sliders you move one direction or the other.  In addition it has its own notes field for each player.  You can add a photo and it tracks how many games as well as  where and when you've played with them before.

I periodically keep track of my stack size  with the time and it's relationship in comparison to other stacks at the table.  Anything I believe might be worth remembering I enter.

I use my notes as a means of reviewing hands that were played well and those that weren't.  I make special mention of Lessons Learned (not to be repeated), Mistakes as well as Memorable Hands and other characterizations that can easily be text searched for later reading.

I've taken notes even before buying the PokerJournal app and have found them very helpful in improving my game and keeping me on-track.  I always review my last session notes before starting a new one and when there's a break in my action while at the table I'll often review other session notes as well, while also keeping an eye on the table.  To Anything I believe might be worth remembering I enter.  To say the least their value can't be over emphasized.

Not in a million years am I NOT calling that hand!  You can't run scared expecting to lose in hands like this one. The skill in this game is not avoiding risk but is in taking risk at the correct time.  If ever there was a correct time this is it!
