why would you open less than pot? FE is worth a lot in a game where equities are so close. opening smaller should only be done as an exploit vs BB who overfolds vs small opens

barely anybody good is leading there with any sort of reasonable frequency

many other things matter rather than just the amount of nutted combos in your range. how do you plan to have a balanced checking range when you have an equity disadvantage on the flop and start developing a leading range? big blind has more 4x yes, but he also has a ton more air.

what frequency would you consider good/optimal for 3betting HU 250bb deep? and how does that change at 100bb or say 50? looking for some rough numbers :)

would be interesting to hear your thoughts on 3betting strategy in tournament vs cashgame HU format.

i didnt save the tree but feel free to run some calcs using a few slightly different, reasonable ranges for both players and let me know if the GTO solution will ever be to only have 1 very small flop betsize, which is what sam is implying to be 'optimal' here - and thats not going to be the case for any ranges you put in. there will always be a reasonable utilization of bigger sizings, often at similar frequencies as the smaller ones in this example.

even if you want to have 1 betsize for simplicity, i would be pretty surprised should 1/3 outperform 2/3 pot in theoretical EV. cant open pio atm but from experience with it, i'd say that the EVs will at least be even for the OOP player and likely slightly higher with a 2/3 pot strategy

if you ever opened a tree in pio, you should know that peoples general conception of good betsizing in MTTs is ridiculously far away from whats optimal. and i dont mean just the average joes, it pretty much includes 98%+ of HSMTT players.

scotts sizing in the 99vsAQ hand seems fine after a quick glimpse into piosolver.

its definetly not optimal to have only 1 very small betsize in this spot, even tho whats what a lot of people seem to consider standard/good
