a -13 buy in session is definitely not normal. Worst I've seen in 12 years and yes I did tilt at least 3-5 of those away (maybe more couldn't see properly through the red mist)!

Thanks for the responses. I just got half it back in a couple of hours so feeling bit perkier, played my normal game and confirmed what you said above, i.e someone stacking off AQo from sb against my 4 bet with aces. Gonna put last night down to freak occurrence!

After a truly crushing -13 buy in session at 50NL zoom last night I have come to question the premise of my play completely. I've always been laggy and to date it's put me in good stead, but at 50/100NLHE now the 3bet 4 bet wars between button and blinds seem to be getting a bit ridiculous.
Last night I lost 7 coin flips and got sucked out on twice based on button vs blind spots and am wondering now if there is any point 4betting when on the button. More often than not it ends in a flip and the times it doesn't (AA vs KK etc.) surely just balance each other out. If we assume standard practice after a 3bet from the blinds is to 4bet the best and worst of our range and call/fold the middle parts then can we not just call with our top and middle part of the range and play post flop. We have more value hands so can subsequently bluff with higher frequency post flop and villain struggles to remove cards (or incorrectly removes them) from our range. I've noticed this is a play taken more and more by the regs and was wondering if anyone can explain why it's best to still have a 4bet range or if there are any discussions on this.

It's 25NL and based on pre-flop this looks so much like a set. Not sure what hands you think he 3 bets here that aren't setts 99,1010? Without some sort of read on villain this is just a fold.
I had a phase of playing my draws very aggressively at micros and I very rarely did well in spots like this and overall it was just unnecessary spew.

Weird sizing from villain. Think this is AA played really oddly, but your just getting way too good a price to fold. Villain shows up with AQ, JJ maybe AK? just about enough for the call to be good.

As played I think you should bluff the river. 78, missed as did the flush draw, don't think a flopped set or straight calls with two spades, the ten shouldn't help him and the 5 even a station would normally give up to the turn bet. Villain shows up a lot here with busted draws, weak single pairs, pp's and the occasional slow played nuts. Your A high is no almost never any good so really feel you need to fire a third barrel on this relatively brickish river.

Seems good spot for thin value bet. He's not played his hand with any strength on a drawy board so think we can assume no AK. We'd assume 88,55 raise the flop. So there's plenty of 8x, weaker aces and pp's that may look this up and all busted draws he folds.
Fold to a raise obv.

Post | 888nick posted in Chatter: Best European poker sites 100NLHE+

Hi,

I've been playing a fair bit this year after a few years away and am pretty comfortably rolled for 100NLHE but am struggling to find enough traffic. I'm on 888, William Hill and Sky but on all these anything much above 25NL and there is very little traffic. 888 is okay at peak times but even then I'm quite often facing the same 3-4 regs on all tables.

Are there any sites beyond Pokerstars with big traffic?

Think you played the hand fine, as you say your getting great odds to call on turn and multiway on a drawy board you could easily be pushed off your equity if you led out or check raised.
As played I'd probably go with Taaaz and get it in and hope villain makes a hero call with a straight or has a worse flush. Our hand is face up but people do spazz out sometimes if they get a bad run out.
Some regs seem to feel compelled to attack weakness, if I know he's one of those types I may bet say 3 dollars and hope he raises.

I'd expect villain to have ak or aa here a lot. No way can you fold this without an amazing read. All credit to villain for 3 betting 2s there.

Post | 888nick posted in NLHE: Bankroll

Hi all.

I'm an experienced recreational NLHE player who's been away from poker since Black Friday. I started playing with some regularity again about 5 months ago and things have gone very well. I started back to basics and worked my way up from 4NL.

I currently have a 2k bankroll and am playing six max 20,30 and 50NL depending on where action seems best. I have joined this site in order to improve at the slightly more challenging 50NL games and ideally take the step up to 100NL in a 6 months or so.

I would like some idea of how people manage bankrolls, I understand 3000bb's is deemed typical but am unsure when to start cashing out, how much for, how often etc. I was thinking of setting a 5000 dollar roll and taking out 1/3 of that every month I'm up. Just wondering what sort of rolls people keep and how they deal with taking money out.

By the way I am only recreational and have no interest in becoming pro.

Any ideas will be appreciated.
