In his new theory video, Daniel uses PIO to deeply analyze and come up with a strategy for a spot that stumped him in game.

In the first oop Range you build i think we should include the KQo , KQs, QJs and QTs since they still aré in his range. Thatd make even more profitable our river bet.

Also, at the end of the video you talk about villain (as pío) overfolding, but it actually humans will Fold more than it says since some of them will check the hands they should have in the donk bet all in Range, as it actually happened.

Let me know what you think about this
Good stuff, thanks

Hi rabblerouser,

re: first OOP range - I did not include any of those hands as it's impossible for him to have a hart (even with KQo). Judging by his actual holding, some of those should certainly be in there with some weights, but I didn't add them because I was going for a mix of what my assumptions were at the time as well as simplicity. You are correct bluffing the river would be more profitable if we added those in.

re: villain/pio overfolding - why do you think it's necessarily true that real humans will fold more? That would be true if humans played a strategy where they only/mostly donk bet value hands, but if for example OOP didn't have a donk betting range at all (which is likely how many humans will play this spot) the checking range does not become weaker.

Thanks for the vid Daniel. Pio suggests to Hero to check back some of his nut flush turn which is reasonnable. I'm wondering though with which bluffs does he likes to raise vilains bet on a river blank (as hero will do with the nut flush that he checked back). I think that the software don't have a big preference on that as every hands seems to have the same blocker effect.
And secondly, i'm a bit lost here but i will try to give you my thoughts. I think vilain should value at least Khx+ on a blank river (maybe few Jh) after we check back. And that he should defend some of those second nut flush on our raise, correct me if i'm wrong.
If he decides to overfold and just call Ah, which is reasonnable to me i don't see the cut off player take the check back line/raise in bluff very often on this particular board where oop player have a good proportion of pure nuts in his range : does it inclines us to just bet all of those nut flush hands on the turn as we will have less value on the river ?
Thx ! :)

Hi Kaizen,

I just took another look at the sim, in particular what happens when turn goes x/x and the river is a blank (2s). A few interesting things which may give you insight.

  1. Villain valuebets very very light (for a small size). In fact any made flush is a valuebet, which makes sense considering a 5 high flush with 55 has 75% equity against IP's range.

  2. Versus the bet, IP actually shoves a K high flush for value.

  3. It looks like villain prefers to have a K for bluffing (although like always PIO gonna PIO and there's lots of mixing and randomness). Likely this has to do with the player IP player having 100% weight with KK to start off, always betting KhKx on the flop, and almost always checking back the turned K high flush. Blocking the second nuts when bluffing is obviously nice and quite significant given the heavy weight for KhKx to play this way and relatively narrow ranges.

If I follow you correctly, I think you are implying that against humans checking back is less valuable than the sim would suggest. Given the stuff above, I would agree, with the added reason being that IRL people aren't going to bet the river light enough for value, so getting a bet from a 5 high flush or whatever else doesn't automatically occur if we were to check back.

Hey guys, haven't seen this video yet but thought it would be best to comment on the latest video. What pc do i need to use piosolver in somewhat of a resonable time?

Depends. If you are looking to do stuff with high SPRs and a lot of streets to come, it can be pretty demanding. Stuff like toy gaming and 3bet pots I run on my Surface which is barely even a computer with no issues.
