What we should say ? welcome back or thanks for the vid and see you in 2 years :)
seriously hope you will make on regular basis and provide good training content that make us a little better or teach us how to work on some part of the game on our side

osiasgriffin 9 years, 2 months ago

well, jimmy obst, we are paying you guys after all, so maybe you should not tell us how to gracefully thank you for getting what we are paying for- just a thought mate.

Great to have you back !

Could you explain a little more why you like 3betting AJo/why you like to use a small sizing+somewhat merged range in that spot ?

I would approach that spot with a more polar 3betting range with a bigger sizing and keep AJo in my flatting range since I think a flat has a pretty good EV here.
That way I think I can win more EV with my overall range, maximizing the number of hands I vpip profitably. Since there is a cap to %tage of 3b we can get to before becoming very exploitable and people realize it. (Not saying we have to be perfectly balanced, but that we can't get away with just 3betting everything and that there a lot of hands that gain more than AJ by 3betting)

Fedor Holz 9 years, 4 months ago

I think it really depends on the spot. If I think that he's opening wide enough (+folds too much, plays poor in 3bet pots, and so on...) so that AJo just has too high of an EV by 3betting, I will do that rather than flat. In general I like your thoughts and I agree with most of it. It's all a matter of guessing the EV of certain actions preflop - I think both explanations make sense.

At 6:53, should you fold cK7 here to preserve the bubble, given how much stealing they are letting you get away with. You don't want to lose the hand and winning the hand takes you off the final table bubble and means you can do less stealing.

Thanks for the video.
In the last hand if he would call turn would u still bluff blank river ? I'm asking just because the turn was really bad.

Arnaud Lafaurie 9 years, 6 months ago

thanks for the video
honestly, I would have much prefered a review of the entire tournament rather than the final table. How you did get there, a kind of "anatomy" of your tournament. there are really too much final table review, and not sure as training material is the most beneficial for subscribers. See the critical part of this tournament, where you had to take important decision would have be more beneficial. I say that not only for this one, but for the most part of elite content.
anyway good video and good to have you on board again

I really agree with final table/late game reviews being à bit too much compared to other content. I have mentioned this in the forum in the past, & thats more of à overall request for the MTT-coaches.Dont want to hijack the thread for this, but want to mention that there are more who are feeling this way.

Nice to have you back Fedor!

great to see you back.
at 29min, do you fold JT, AT, smaller heart draws without pair on KQ8hh3 in his shoes? do you mix frequencies so you dont arrive at river with too much air yourself?
In middle stages of tournament you have a depolarized 3b range when icm isnt a factor as much? I have always generally used polar range where I use the top of my folding range as a 'bluff.' Are your 3bet value hands always hands u want to get all in, or do sometimes 3bet thinner value type hands and fold to shove cuz u expect him to flat wide and jam tight? How do you determine when you want to be linear and when you want to be polarized?
great vid overall.

Why didn't you check raise the J9 on the AJ2K board if his range is capped? Surely that looks really scary to a-rag.

Felipe Boianovsky 9 years, 6 months ago

While we wait for Fedor to respond, I'll give my thoughts on this.

I do think we should atack this with check-raising sometimes, although if we always do it just cuz his range is capped, that's gonna be something very easy to notice in our game and exploit (I'd note "overatacks capped ranges")... And then villain could easily adjust by checking back more strong hands on the flop, and not bet-folding so often after havin a perceived capped range.

That being said, having a Jack in our hand is a good candidate to check-raise bluff, given we block KJ (usualy the strongest hand that is almos always in villain's range that way).

Still, doing it with all the Jx in our range might be a little over, and what I think I would do, is use JT and QJ a lot, given we also block a possible QT that might sometimes check-back flop, plus have extra equity when called with the gutter.

Fedor Holz 9 years, 4 months ago

Felipe explained it really well. I'd say I do it quite frequently in that spot - but with my image I obviously have to be quite cautious to not overdo it in these kind of spots. ;-)

The AJs hand at the 30min mark on K92Q8, you said you would prefer betting the turn, but on what cards would you continue with a barrell otr? The heart seems like an obvious option, but expect him to have a lot of one heart hands there, so maybe it's not as clear of a card to bet on as a bluff.

Shhhh this guys to good to be making videos...any1 complaining in here just needs to chill out.

Do people who work office jobs get their hands held by the CEO's of their organization? No.

Hello Fedor, congratz for the Triton Super High Roller winning and thanks for the video .

2:07 KQo Why do you prefer folding preflop here?
I really thought this is an easy 3bet shove plus considering the final table bubble effect, and the fact that you think BB won't jam as much as he should.

Nice video Fedor thanks for posting. One thing I wish I could see is every hand at the FT. It would be nice to see not only hands you open fold and fold to raises, but also your input on hands that go to showdown with the other players given that it's a talented group of players at this final table.

Obv one of the sickest pros out there today. but to be baffled by the AcJs call on Kxxccc after cbetting with less than 12 bb behind, it's a pretty standard call. sure your range is capped and he's almost always behind, but this flop is a pretty great flop for his hand as far as equity goes, while being behind. no clue why you were baffled by villain's call.

Hey Fedor, thanks for the vid. Unlikely to get an answer by now but:

minute 23.00

J9o defend on AJ2ss - check check
K turn check - he bets

what do you think about a checkraise on the turn?
do you have a checkraise range? how is it/would you construct it?

kind regards
