great video.
You dont think you cost ur AQ/55/66/AA hands a lot by not betting bigger at 8:30? When you bet smaller at this deep spr its hard to really make the most with ur real value hands.
Those hands would fall into a different betting category. AA would block the stronger region of his call down range (turned 2 pairs and AsXs), so I think betting it for a smaller size most of the time would make sense. That said, 55,66,QQ all would make fantastic candidates for very large turn barrels. My specific hand shouldn't be bet for an enormous size and there certainly should be mulitiple sizes used on this turn! great point/question.
I could also see one betting strategy for large sizing and some checking as a good approach tbh.
QJ would be a good mix vs BB its not like we isolate ourself only vs better hands if we bet big with this combo since V has so many worse hands Q7s-QKs,Q8o-Qko,78,43s,98,77-99 on a scarecard you gonna tend to keep on bluffing
I would like to say that I respect the time you spent to produce this video. But I found it really too slow (all the tanks pre in unopened pots , etc) and not enough interesting hands.
Maybe this is only me, I d like to know others feelings about it.
Sorry you feel that way. I couldn't make more interesting hands happen and I figured since it was the largest buy-in MTT in online poker history that viewers would enjoy it. I'll do my best to give you something faster in the future.
yeah its nice to see all those top players playing in this super high roller and to have your reads on this. Thanks for bringing this super high stakes content.
I feel it is a really high quality video. I mean it is only one table and there is not a ton of interesting spots (huge decision for your tournament life) but I feel like those "little" decisions matter as well.
I hope to see more contents from you in the coming weeks. And hopefully, not in 6 months :) !
Man, how good is Ike (swoon). Some conclusions I was able to come to about the AcQc hand with unlimited time from the comfort of my kitchen table:
-Seems like you went a bit small, just 4x against a raise and a call, 160bb deep OOP in a spot where you will be very polarized. I don't think Ike can fold any hands he flatted the open with.
-You have a nice hand to start checking with, but your range has such a big equity advantage on that flop that I prefer a small bet with everything, targeting stuff like low pocket pairs with a club and As9s.
-On the river, sick spot once he chooses a small size. Looks like he's probably jamming AT,T9, and going smaller with QJs,KJs,KQs,JJ. I think it makes sense for him to bluff big with AXcc and AXdd and small with hands like JTs,QTs,TT.
-I think your hand is right on the border between call/fold. I think we can play something like this:
vs. small size: call sets, AK, maybe some AJs/AQs. fold AA.
vs. big size: call AA and most AK, fold everything else.
In real time I don't think I'm laying down a set because of the possibility he's jamming 2 pair or JJ, so the above is assuming we somehow know he's using 2 sizes.
Sorry for short the response but wanted to give you something (on plane/phone)
- why are you concerned with betting to target hands that you have near-drawing dead?
- our range doesn't have a large equity advantage on this flop (guessing small advantage) with fewer combos of nuts/2-pair.
- bet and check on this flop are going to be around the same EV (my guess), and both should be done some frequency.
- It also looks like you're assuming he's flatting the open and flatting a 3B with some hands that I think he's folding pre. (A9s is most likely going into the muck vs. the open and would 3b as frequent (if not) more frequent than call.
Plugged the ranges in and you are right about the equities - around 52/48. Surprising to me. The solver I plugged it into still likes starting with a bet 80-90% of the time even if it's as big as 55% pot, probably because OOP is very polarized and the bluffs (I put in a little bit of low suited-connected stuff and a couple low suited Ax) benefit from making IP fold on the flop. It does recommend checking AcQc sometimes.
Sorry if my first post came off a little aggressive, should have done the research before posting. You made a great video and are a great player. Thanks for the reply.
I dont think we should have a large betting freq on a board like this.
Villian is going to have more twopair then we do along with ATs,T9s.
I think Jason played the hand completely fine. I dont know how Ike is playing but turning TT into a semibluff where most people would rather take the little showdownV which btw doesnt really exist vs BB 3bet ranges is a really good play and puts OOP into tough spot especially with hands like AJo,TT,99,AQ,AA,AK.
I think his riversizing is pretty nice since he doesnt have that many bluffs.
AQcc hand - I spent a little bit of time messing around w/ PIO for this spot...PIO certainly favors a 1/3pot cbet OTF with a higher frequency, interestingly, this combo in our range actually yields higher EV with a polarized cbet strategy. i think both strategies can be argued for but, assuming you're using the polarized cbet strategy on this flop, it has us betting AQcc ~35% of the time and then mixing check calling and check raising 50/50...given way played though, it has us folding the river with this combo pretty much always. wp
thereheis, did you give Ike the ability to raise the flop? i found similarly that if we remove his ability to raise OTF that it favors a super high flop cbet frequency, but if we give Ike the ability to raise then it drastically changes.
As entertaining as it is watching a super high stakes mttt think this might have worked better as a hand review in a replayer as its super slow. The hands that do get shown are as always broken down brilliantly just feel it's a bit slow and I was super pumped for a JKoon video as I am a huge fan of your videos.
hi there, at 22 min with 55 you say calling haxton's raise is close between call and fold, can you explain a bit more why we could fold? I always call this cause i think we can easily setmine
Also, the very next hand you say A8o is a marginal open from CO with antes. I guess that in an easier field you would open more loose but i wonder what offsuit Ax you wouldn't open even in an easier table that deep.
( in BTN you fold some rage aces that deep too, right?)

I really enjoyed the video, even more so after I used the 1.25x speed option
Enjoy watching this tourney but it definitely does run pretty slow. Maybe speed the playback up a bit for the next vid.
The next video is me playing live. First attempt, let's hope it works out :-)
Great video, thanks! Hour spent talking to yourself w/ turned off mic...bad beat d00d...

Keep up the good work and GL for WCOOP.
This is really TOP tier content, and this video series alone makes my entire subscription cost worth its money tenfold. Great job Jason!

thereheis Suprised that pio wants to bet here almost always! Id be interested what kind of hands you did give IP
Thanks for the nice video and congrats for the 7 figure win!! #savage

@numisma
which hands does pio prefer to bluffcatch the river with ?
AQ non club ? AK ?
I can get behind all of that. Thanks for taking the time to look at it!

yes, I did. must be a difference in ranges or sizings.

Not trolling just trying to help.
Cheers
Thanks, Chase. I made a live multitabling video for the next one.
