At 19m with 25o in the BVB against Shaun. I was curious how often you start constructing betting ranges on the turn there(satellite strategy aside)? Not necessarily on the 10s turn, but on most under card turns. I tend to think its more profitable to double barrel in these spots, because it seems like i'm getting called on the river when I only bet once, more often that not with hands that had overs and improve or A/K high and can hero/bluff catch.

Ya I think that's fair, if I have hands that have an overcard (not to the board but to at least middle pair) or a gutter I'll very likely be betting twice OTT and OTR. 25o from an equity standpoint is very low in my range, and has almost no outs OTR. If the board paired otr I would have to concede the pot but this specific river gives me a lot fewer bluff combos and I should vbet any pair otr.

great vid.
at 36min, regarding shaun deebs range when he 3b sb, you expect him to be linear even though there are clearly hands that have equity as a call and hate being shoved on (like suited broadways KJs QJs KQs QTs and A8s-ATs AJo T9s type hands that dont want to be like 3b and bluffed)? or do you think since he 3b a 35bb stack, that they will call a lot and therefore a more linear range makes sense? At what blind amount do you only 3b more polarized? Like if opener had 20bb, we wudnt want to 3b/call QJs and 3b/folding it seems like a waste, therefore i think having a calling range that includes QJs i think makes sense.
I might be misinpretting what you mean by linear/polar. I think of polarized as having top X% as 3b and then calling the next best % and then using the top of my folding range as 3b. I think of linear as just top x% but expanded to be wider value range. So not sure what you mean when you say hes linear but has 'enough bluffs.'
at 45min, you say u bluff raise j8 and kt kj type hands with no diamond on Q99dd. Do you follow thru and bluff shove these on turns a lot? dont u think a hand like kt kj or j8 with diamond is better candidate to do this so we can shove diamond turns as bluff? i know those hands more profitable calls as they are stronger but it seems that u will jamming turn with little equity on diamond and blank turns or giving up too much if you use this strategy. It seems that u expect his calling range to the c/r to be all hands that will not fold to turn shove if u choose this strat
I notice on dry boards like 773 and 774 u cbet half pot with range. dont u think its better to bet 1/3rd pot? thats the standard i see cash game players using and i generaly use

  1. I think Shaun will have a flatting range, and I agree with your strat of 3betting top x%, flatting the next best hands and 3betting the worst playable hands i.e. t9s etc. His 3betting range isn't completely polarized or linear here, but I think given the situation he's likely to 3bet KQ, AJo, ATo etc as opposed to flatting them.

  2. Given that stacks are relatively small, I would rather my bluffs have less equity if we were deeper and there was more room to play I'd want to c/r with hands that have more equity and play ability on a variety of turns. However on this texture at this stack depth I think the correct start is to x/r with 9x, draws that are strong enough to x/r call and my weakest draws, if i had a like Kdtx or KdJx x/r flding has to be quite a bit worse than x/c at this stack depth, I also block KQ and QJ which is mildly relevant because it makes my hand a more profitable bluff on many run outs.

  3. I think 1/3 pot is fine as well, on boards where I don't have much 7x in my range its probably slightly better, I have a hard time knowing which one is better TBH, the slightly bigger bet size with range should fold out a few more floats such as two overs and weaker ace highs so I'm alright with it, on an AKK board I def prefer a smaller size because so much more of his range is auto folding.

At 15 mins " the best way to avoid being all in....is to not be all in" was that Confucius? Only joking I enjoy this format and choice of games more psko/ sats/Omaha/random format tournaments please. Got a lot out of this video. Thanks for making it.
