Tyler Forrester

POSTED Jan 15, 2020

Tyler Forrester jumps into a small pool of apparent regs but because the game is shorthanded, he believes that most players are out of their element as they are likely used to playing 5 and 6 handed and discusses the adjustments that he makes to take advantage of this.

Always happy to see some Tyler Forrester - Even when he tries playing heads-up against a guy who retreats every time he sees "The Tyler Special." Oh, you don't know what "The Tyler Special" is? No problem. Here's what you do. You vary your RFI sizes by varying degrees every single time you open. Sometimes you vary your RFI size by a mere two pennies in a $500 buy-in game, and other times you vary it by 22, 73, or even 97 cents. Addditionally, you also vary it by any-and-every other super-random number you can come across (having a bet slider, and bet slider skillz, is beneficial in this regard). =D

Thanks for the video, Tyler. It's always enjoyable watching you play/talk/teach poker!

Excellent video Tyler (as usual!)

15:12 Are you sure 77 is close as a cold call/fold in CO? My DB is showing a solid profit (I play lower)

I am not familiar with small anonymous pools but have you thought of open limping a hand or two HU to misrepresent your strength as a player and get villain to stay around a little longer?

Thanks BLT!
77 profitability is a function of player pool squeeze, if its low which it often is at small stakes, the call is super profitable, if its closer to gto the call becomes more marginal (I still call). On the open limping you definitely could, I don't really expect to get snap quit with the multiple raise strategy. I think maybe he's seen some of my RIO videos.

20;30 "78s is gonna be a fold here" vs HJ 2.5x. Were you rolling here or is this 100 fold for you in a 200 zoom pool? Same for 500z with less rake? Non zoom? I'm 3b here near 100%. Spewing? Love the vid as always.

You could 3-bet, I've done in the past and think it loses money, but it's maybe a $500 dollar mistake over the course of the year, so not a huge deal. You'll still win if you do it.

11 minute I've noticed when rec have big stack (unless he is aggro/spew in general) when they get big stack they tend to play more conservative(passive - less airball bluffs but more call downs )

Tyler Forrester 5 years, 1 month ago

You're exactly right Jeff and if I knew he was a rec I would respond just like you described. The catch is that maniacs run up bigger stacks more often (playing a higher variance style). So in an anonymous game, the bigger stacks are more aggressive because they are more likely to be maniac.

On a regular table with the extra information about player type, we can overfold and bluff more in small pots.
