Really interesting video.

4:10 you talked about how a jam vs a pro may not be the best because they have the capability to fold stronger hands. Do you feel pros won't have enough pair plus draws or flush draw with straight blockers in their jam range to make lighter calls more profitable? I feel like in b vs b spots with pros they will have a sufficiently wide range to support the jam.

Thanks!

I think the jam can be bad for two reasons:

1) Polarized 3-betting range, so the jam basically forces folds from all of the bluffs (including big draws)

2) Smaller 4-bet accomplishes the same protection goals while making the decisions with the OOP bluffs substantially harder.

pretty sick spot here with KJ, whats crazy is that we have seen Linus shove with air so how do we determine when to call down with our J

Tyler Forrester a month ago

You try to pick the best Jx based on blockers and hope he has enough bluffs to make some Jx +EV or alternatively, you think he's under/overbluffing and you pure call or pure fold JX.

Did you see this hand that Matt and Linus played a few months ago?

Tyler Forrester a month ago

Seems really high variance, but AsTs is a good bluff catcher here and KdQs is a good bluff, so I think both players played pretty well.

Yeah, pretty incredible hand. I guess what Matt was thinking, is the biggest red liner of all time under bluffing here or over bluffing in this spot. Call, simple thought process.

Linus never ceases to amaze me. He's been so quiet for being a top dog for so long... I'm not aware of any podcast or content from him anyway. I hope one day when he finally decides to hang up the cleats that we get to peer into his mind a bit more.

Tyler Forrester 25 days ago

Unfortunately, the lack of content is part of the success. When everyone is trying to beat you, anything you say is going to dissected and re-dissected. It's really difficult to be essentially two-faced enough to keep a big edge.

what a lovely check on this turn and river by linus, Matt probably thinking that Linus has some give ups on this line. well played

I’m not sure, it’s really a great barrell combo too. Psychologically maybe he thought Matt was more likely to bluff than call.

Tyler,
Interesting hand at ~14:00. Interesting tradeoff between blocking more combos with the A5 (like you said) vs blocking fewer combos but having more outs when opponent continues. Would be interesting to know if Linus misread matts range here or made a conscious choice with this combo. Do you have any thoughts on this?

Thanks Tyler

I think with 54o being in the range, it's going to skew the bluff-raisings to pairing against the 5 and the A, but without 54o or A5o in range, the 73cc is quite good/strong here as a 3-bet, finish.
