12:55 It's not really that controversial, sir.

Loose BTN Opens, SB cc (100% 2 cd draw), Hero is BB w 36789. Agree w everything until you weigh your pre-draw decisions.

You took a line that should NEVER be considered. Defending and then D1 is why Krakura snowed and won the pot, I believe. No strong deuce player will ever flat and D1 there. Ever. There aren't too many "always" and "never" in poker, but this is never the best line, just as opening J5ss UTG flhe 6m is never correct.

You can either D2 (which isn't completely unattractive to tighter players that may have tough time w the wide range stuff post-draw OOP), fold if you're weak at this game, or take the correct line - 3! and D1 to 3678x. There is no way to correctly balance our D1 range between cc and 3! given the action. We will be passing up too much value w any D1 hand worth playing (and this is on the cusp, but worth playing). By not 3!, we are turning our hand face-up as a weak 1 cd draw. That leads to us easily getting exploited by snows/quick patters, as they have the comfort of knowing that as soon as they pat, they can fold us out (just like you did) if we aren't pat.

There isn't a top online deuce player (Isi, TT, Donthnrun, KKophghy, etc) that would take this line. Same goes for the best live deuce players like DD, Jesse Marin, etc. If I'm wrong about any of the aforementioned players' opinions, $100 to charity of your choice. Complete freeroll.

Fwiw, I know I'm being a little harsh to a really nice guy. But 1) It's just so obvious to deuce specialists and 2) PEOPLE ARE PAYING $100/mo to watch this. This is as far as I've made it in the vid. Also fwiw, you are better than me at 6/8 games in the mix. It's very easy to play deuce competently, as so many spots play themselves, tough to be very good (you're somewhere between competent and good), and to be top 10 in the world, it's like any other endeavor.

Hey Marauder80,
I'm aware the line I took was not the norm or likely optimal. I mentioned this sentiment in the video that it wasn't likely the best line, and I wasn't entirely sure which was (although I am close to 90% sure 3-betting and drawing one is the best) This was meant to create some discussion about alternative lines in certain spots. When making these videos my goal isn't always to take the optimal line, but explain the situation and allow the viewer to understand better with my help in assessing the situation. Sometimes I will say what I believe to be the best line, but I don't believe this is always the best way to teach through this medium, as it creates a more passive viewing experience. I encourage my viewers to do calculations along with me, and reply in the comments section to create discussion, so I appreciate the comment, and I agree that 3-betting and drawing one is considered to be optimal/standard.

This particular strategy of flatting in a 3-way pot from the BB would include flatting hands like 7543 (which aren't very happy 3-betting OOP in a 3-way pot) as well as all the OESD/Gutter 4-card hands. This allows us to be able to flat out of the BB with hands that can make the nuts on later streets, even tho players likely won't give credit to us for having strength, as well as some weaker hands that may be forced to fold if they could only 3-bet. I find the standard for most players is to 3-bet those hands anyway and snow if they make a straight or have one draw left and haven't improved. I'm not sure I like this strategy in a 3-way pot. HU I feel it's great, but multi-way I would imagine the EV of 3-betting goes down a bit with certain hands which is why I think creating a flatting range instead of a 3-betting only range when drawing one isn't awful.

That being said 8763 is not a hand I'd put in a flatting range and I think is best to 3-bet since it can't make straights. I opted to flat in the video to open up discussion about this spot with a different than norm strategy. I don't think it's a hand I'd put into a flatting range here ever, but it was never really about the particular hand rather than the spot.

Thanks!

What tools would you recommend are best for equity calculations in 2-7? If you can provide links where to download them that would be much appreciated as well!

Also at 20:00 I do not fully understand your reasoning for SMertin calling 54 in position in a full ring game BVB is worse than calling OOP in a HU game. I know that folds to you will increase your chances of having more low cards but I feel position is more important than knowing your hand will be slightly stronger.

Troutulator is what I mostly use for triple draw. But most calculations for triple draw are very difficult with multiple ranges, so I'd suggest playing around with what you believe to be an average hand of a range when using Troutulator. http://www.andyblackwood.com/converter.html
