I find the concept of "grit" fascinating. Sometimes one man's grit is another man's bloody mindedness. I think the idea of pragmatic self reflection and flexibility and facing towards uncomfortable truths and indeed giving up on something if it is to pursue more fruitful leads might be grit. This over continuing to do something because it is what you have decided to do and ignore the cognitive dissonance and the fact that something isn't working because -- god dammit-- I just need to work harder. Something like a courageous facing towards discomfort -- that is what I value more each day.
Thank you, sir! Wonderful material. Have you ever thought about being a professional trainer/coach ?( poker , or any other sport). I mean, making a living from it...
Best regards!
Great vid, Bradley.
I got 3.2 on the scale... I guess I am not as gritty as I thought. Lots of work to be done now. Thank you so much for the enlightening content of the video.
Best wishes,
LCM
Apart from the great videos which I personally benefited a lot, I cannot help but Googled Brad and got to know a lot of great things about his passion and perseverance in pursuing for the Skeleton sport.
Wish you the best of luck Brad in your pursuit for the upcoming big events! Your experience already inspired me a great deal and I cannot wait for more good news.
Btw Brad, what kind of meditation process or tools do you use every day? I think that meditation could be really helpful not only for Skeleton but also poker as well :D
I do Vipassana meditation, usually right before bed. Skeleton athletes also do "mind runs" where we will lie down on our sled and go down a track in our mind.
One other technique we also use is to actually take naps on our sleds; you must be completely relaxed while going 125+ km/h because tension in your body will cause you to depress the sled at certain points, which causes friction, which slows you down. The idea here is that if you sleep on it, then your subconscious will see it as a place where you go to be comfortable and relaxed, no matter what chaos is going on around you.
It's very humbling to hear that my experience could inspire you. One of the reasons why I wanted to talk about Grit is because, honestly, simply working hard and refusing to give up is by far and away the most important reason I have this opportunity now.
Thank you for the kind words; I wish you the best in your poker and life endeavors.
Amazing and inspirational video. I think its perfect to watch while experiencing downswing, it excellently shows that suffering makes you better, tougher and stronger. One just have to have grit to push through it and embrace it.
Thank you for this video, looking forward to more of your work!
however i didn't enjoy the reference to the animal testing. putting dogs inside a box and electrocuting them to 'prove' something about helplessness is unnecessary and cruel.
Thanks for the video Bradley. I used to think that I had more grit than others, but in my teste I got 3.9, or 60%. And 60% might be the average. Maybe it is one reason that I am getting average results last months. Improving it now.
Thanks a lot and also hopping that you get a great result in Olympic Games.

Your series, this is the only missing puzzle, which I just didn't have.
And i believe that in-depth work on your videos, and conscious application in practice. Will allow me to become the best in my chosen discipline!
Immensely grateful to you!
Thank you Mwinn, I'm speechless!
Very Good Video. Ty very much! I like the idea, of practising more and focused, not harder, to increase the GRIT.

nice vid again man, enjoying the series :)

Thanks demondoink.
I agree; I'm not a fan of that experiment either and I would hope it is no longer allowed.
I have a follow-up experiment for the folks that designed the shock experiment. Good news: they get to be the subjects!
Nice video otherwise, but I can't support animal cruelty.

Great video, just the kind of topics I enjoy! :)
I like the following saying since it plays on the tension of the two concepts:
"Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard"
