35: Don't like a high frequency small bet here in general given range interaction and think it's probably the worst of the 3 options with your hand specifically. Small bet on this texture simply isn't accomplishing anything with the majority of our hands and making life too easy for our opponents. This is a spot where we need to understand the difference in a solvers range after c-betting flop checking turn (balanced) vrs a humans (weaker and unbalanced towards light showdown value). We aren't denying enough equity to gutshot+FD combos and forcing ourselves to call off crushed vrs the x/r range. Even the 98+ portion of our range in general benefits from a larger sizing here given our relatively poor river visibility.
Hey Thallo , great to see you around here!
I totally agree with you that our opponents range getting to the Turn is much different compared to the GTO solution. The player will usually have:
a tighter 3Bet range
too high of a Flop CBet frequency
unbalanced Turn checking range
I am still kind of a fan to go for the small sizing with certain bluff candidates with which we are not interested in comitting ourselves. I actually think that on the contrary, we give our opponent a much easier time when potting compared to betting small on the Turn and putting him into a tough River decision. I barely expect my opponent to fold any type of gutter+FD hand against any sizing on the Turn.
With the hand in play (KJ94dd) I really like the potting option given that we can make so many better hands fold and don't really mind if the money goes in given our equity.
I am curious how you think about this spot from an exploitative angle and why you would primarily go for the big sizing. Let me know :)
The short answer for a place like this is I don't think we humans play rivers well enough to benefit from the smaller sizing on boards that are still this dynamic in a way that a solver does + a human's tendency to overcall one big bet vrs multiple streets (without improving) when the board is likely to get scarier outweighs the value gained in keeping a larger SPR in position. There's a bunch of more complicated underlying reasons as to why exactly that is, but would make a much better conversation than forum post.
It's most likely gonna be about constructing 3Bet ranges IP and OOP and how to proceed in a 3Bet pot on different Flop textures, taking into account the exploitative angle vs low stakes population.

Great format. To toogle between gameplay/review and tools.
Great series. I appreciate you incorporating vision work into the videos.

Can't wait for more theoretical videos. Have you already planned on the subject?
Hey frenchi78 ,

Hello Emty. I'm really enjoying your videos. Thanks a lot.
I saw your screen name in RIO poker is "Younggun_KA"
Are you the "YoungAKGun" in Pokerstars who keep playing pretty well in 200PL~400PL ?
If so, I can give your more respect for your videos :D
Haha JackSt.Klein
I wish I would be a highstakes crusher like "YoungAKGun" :D but unfortunately its not me.
Best,
Emty
