woolala that was brutal session

How abt X/jam KcJc here?
I checked the sim right after end of the video.
and the thing is KJ is perform much better than AK,KQ OTT.
I think this is because of the Jc9c block and Jc9d Jc9x block.
my initial intuition was like it's either fine to X/C and X/J KJs OTT
but OG sim says that KcJc , KhJh is pure X/shove.( especially vs reg like deano I think its more fascinating )
KdJd lean toward to x/c more often cuz it has still comfortable runouts OTR because of the diamond so it needs less protection.
thanks for great vid btw

Yo that's great. I didn't even think abt it in-game but I like it. Was obviously going to be one of the hands that I was going to look at in the follow-up video. Thanks for already sharing the sim's result.

3:40 Are you sure Q9s is a defend vs a 4bet bu vs sb? Most of the charts I've seen have J9 and Q9 folding and K9/A9 mixing call and fold

6:20 you squeezed 98s despite a roll of 37? Surely it's only a low frequency play especially because when you're deeper these hands go down in value?

47:00 with A9o when he calls turn is your plan to give up on non diamond rivers?

49:30 Are you always defending 77 co vs sb 3bet?

thejericho2 2 years, 3 months ago

3:40 - It's not, I made a mistake. I thought for sure that it was but went to look at the charts again right after the session and it's a pure fold.

6:20 - Yeah that's quite loose. I didn't take into account the RNG too much here because the cold caller was an unknown. So I just was trying to be quite aggressive pre to be in a pot w him.

47:00 - Yes, always.

49:30 - Yes

3.00 - Q9s
Think this one is too wide to call - GTOWizard is folding even QTs vs a smaller raise size (although GTOWizard is a bit of a nit and also is playing a flatting range). I have other ranges that have it as a fold too and QTs as a call.

What do you make of the massive check-raise on the river? Do you like this size or do you prefer something a bit smaller? Having seen this sizing, would it be sufficient for you to alter your strategy slightly to trap more vs this opponent?

thejericho2 2 years, 3 months ago

He's super polarized here so I believe that his sizing is good. I'm not sure I need to trap more after one instance. Maybe if this becomes a recurring thing, then yeah, I could def x back turn a bit stronger.

Hey Jericho
Seconded on the two table format it makes it allot easier to follow. Just Wanted to say thank you for your last theory series about river raises. Do you think I can take your conclusion as actionable advice in my games? (100nl generally passive players). That river raises are going to be under bluffed meaning all bluff catchers should fold?

Cheers

thejericho2 2 years, 3 months ago

Thanks for the feedback :)

I would def fold more to river raises at 100nl than at 500nl. Idk that I would fold ALL of my bluff catchers, but yes, folding more would be indeed correct from what I saw at that stake.

I understand the need to raise some sets and 2 pair here against good players, but would it not make more sense to raise higher 2 pairs or higher sets, which dominate BB's calling range? The scope for boat over boat in a larger pot would make me think that the higher ones would be raised more often?
If you were playing against a weaker opponent, do you think there is any merit to raising this hand class on the turn, or would you just call?

thejericho2 2 years, 3 months ago

It will be interesting to look at it in the solver. I kind of didnt want to block him from having TP+gutter or pair+fd. But like I mentioned, Im quite unsure abt it and which combos should raise.

Vs weaker opponent, I think raising can be good, but perhaps smaller (and bigger w the actual goods). Don't rly need to be balanced vs them.

41.00 - K4ss on Q82ss5T
I think your spades here are not as bad as you think for bluffing. BB will bluff most missed spades aside from a few strong A hi spades like AJss, A9ss. I think K4ss could mix in some bluffs here.

Nice play with the turn range bet here! Is this something that happens often in spots like this? What are the characteristics of the board that lead to this strategy?

thejericho2 2 years, 3 months ago

I think that when IP checks back such a dry board, PIO sees this as kind of free EV for the OOP range and wants to block as a result of it. OTR, it goes back to splitting between check, bet big and block.

Cool to see a live play vid!

2:15 table 2 deano leads the Ace. Is this a solver approved play and is it one you would use? It seems like this board favors us more than him and would not happen often.

15:30 table 1 k9 with the k of spades do you think we can bet turn or xr turn as a bluff since opponent is saying he has sdv with his flop chk which is likely better than our pr?

17:30 table 1 tt do you fold to a turn bet even with the tc? Having the tc seems to block his turn semibluffs.

22:55 table 1 it looks like you folded a3o in sb vs bb. Was that a misclick?

Looking forward to the review vid. Thanks!

thejericho2 2 years, 3 months ago

Thanks :)

2:15 - Yeah, I think that the ace is probably a mix there for him, but the lead seems good.

15:30 - I think that would be an overbluff from us here, especially in those late positions.

17:30 - I think that it would be folding quite a lot, yeah. But I will sim it for the follow-up video just to be sure.

22:55 - I open A4o+ Bvb.

I was wondering how often you follow the RNG roll. Or when does a player read take precedent over the roll of the RNG?

Which software is that which generates the RNG by the way? Thanks!

thejericho2 2 years ago

The software that generates it is "StarsCaption".

I follow it pretty often, unless I have a strong read. It's more so to alleviate brain power for close decisions.
