Really great video, thanks for posting it. I think AKs is has got to be a 5b pre, we are really high up in range and villain isn't credibly repping anything. Agreed, we're not stoked to get it in here, but unless we have some reason to think that villain is flatting with AA or KK there we might have to just stomach the variance and get it in. Also, a 5b would be a great bluff considering villain has taken such a strange line pre, so we want to put some value hands other than AA, KK in there too. Thoughts?
@29:35 Think we're definitely bleeding chips playing TT this way, just fold pre if we dont think hes 3betting light here i.e more than JJ+AK, i also dont understand why we're 2.5xing in a turbo where the majority of stacks are 12-30bbs there's only one stack with 45bbs. if everyone was deeper i may agree but we cant be adjusting our raise size based on just our stack size, we have to take into account the rest of the table
TT is very close I'm getting great odds pf, and I think most players make this sizing with AK, given that I flop a set 1/8 times and I will be able to win the pot vs AK some % I think its reasonable. You may be right but I think its very close.
I almost never min open in any position in mtts, with antes in play I think you are just giving your opponents (particularly the blinds) too good a price to call with a very wide range, losing 0.5bb when the 20bb stacks shove and I have a folding hand, I don't think is that large a concern although again, I haven't actually done the math to prove it.
id prefer to comment on lucas comment, but I agree here, i think 2.5x'ing is fine deeper but in the current states esp. amoung low-mid MR i gonna be enough, while players like Luckas are defending 95o, many players are folding k10o to a mr w/ a smallish stack. How are you gonna win the pot vs ak a resonable amoutn of time when hes usually gona c-bet it on most boards, if its 447 ur just CRAI everytime?
Also i wouldn't play cash and mtts in a video like this, your thoughts were alot more clear when you were just going over mtt hands. In your cash game section there were alot of "i think we can call here pre". You didn't seem as focused.
~3:30 where you defend 53s to cutoff open. What is your 3bet strategy from the bb vs various positions given that you have such a wide defending range?
Basically I think 53s is too weak to 3bet, given that I will be oop with a fairly large stack to pot, I'd rather 3bet stronger hands, i.e. a2s, a3s, because they will play better in 3b pots and having an Ace makes it marginally less likely he has a value hand.
I mean we're oop with a large spr when we defend as well. Defending a hand like A2s has the advantage of being able to win at showdown. Also I don't really think the blocker thing is too relevant as having an ace also blocks his 4bet bluffs.
I have determined that watching your cash videos and trying to implement some of your strategies is like lighting money on fire at the micro-stakes. :P That said, I would like to see more pure mtt videos from you please.
I agree about the ace blocker, lame justification, as for the pf spot, I think its very close and fold call and raise are all reasonable options. The main point I was making is by raising I am making the pot substantially bigger and I expect villain to call in position fairly often. For this reason I think 53s is too weak to 3bet, although a hand like 78s, a2s etc would be fine.
Defending 95o is probably no good, I think I leak money by peeling too wide in the blinds, however I think overall my strategy is correct, (peeling lots of hands facing minraises in in bb, when there are fr antes) however instead of peeling 90% I should probably peel closer to 60-70%
The big problem is I don;t think a6 does well enough vs my range, to make up for the fact that 7-10% of the time he gets in bad against the bb. Keep in mind that my only plays with my range in this spot are allin or fold, once you add 77-A7+ to my shove range its very hard for him to profit, a6o has 45% equity against my range if I shove 30%, I doubt its making money here.
I fold A6 there as well, just didnt know it was bad. TY :) Another thing. I am really strugling in these situations:
Having KTo and KTs with like 13-16bbs on Cutof and HJ. Is shove fine or at what stack should i start shoving in that position, open folding it with like 20bbs ? same goes to KJ and A5+ at what bbs do you start shoving these from cutof and HJ ?
I use HUD, but I was travelling and didn't have it on my laptop. As for the KTo Kts, situation there is a large difference between KTo, and KTs and precise stack sizes and position make quite a big difference. I think you can jam KTs profitably in the CO for 20bbs at least, not saying its optimal, but vs tough blinds its certainly a good option. I wouldn't shove a5o fro the CO unless I had 10bbs or less, KJo you can shove at least 20bbs from the CO.

I agree with this all I also think I should bet turn.

what happened to video quality? this is really hard to watch
Sorry about that, I've been travelling and doing them on my laptop, will be back home in a week and should be back to normal.

Haha agree with Piper420 but I feel your style is good and optimal and I learn a lot watching your NL Zoom videos.
Good points, I'm gonna change it up and do some videos focusing on exploitative plays in the future.

I dont see the big deal with his shove with A6 when you shoved K9s on big 162. If it was folded to him, he could still just open shove profitably :) ?
