Yeah I wanted to know this too since the ranges should change based on the different stack sizes, right? I would imagine that for ease Chris wanted to keep things simple (and efficient too) by just running the same ranges.
I started at 80 and kept them exactly the same for the middling size. I then changed it a little for 20 bbs. (The idea was to not give a vastly different range because we want to isolate the stack size as the variable and not change the range composition). That being said, i did some tweaking so that the ranges were a little more realistic too.
Nice video. Wouldnt have mind seeing some different turn cards once we check raise at deeper stack depths and what we do once villain calls (check, block etc) but i understand the video would have been much longer.
Fair enough. I appreciate the feedback. I'm always unsure about how to balance length with more information.
My next video is already made (so it's going to look almost exactly like this one albeit on a different topic).
Perhaps I'll make a video or two about pio that's less directed in it's focus and more just sort of me exploring a random spot with some musings. We can also cover some uses of the program (like node locking or w/e) so it could also serve as some sort of loose intro to using the software as well.
Let me know if that's something you'd be interested in.
This is so fantastic. What a great first elite vid.
About being at 20bb, it says c/r kjs type hands and Ah9x rather than 75? i feel like kjs and ah9x can turn a lot of outs, is this why? it often has potential to turn lots of outs rather than just have 4 outs on turn when thinking about jamming? or it is more about blocking continuing range and potentially turning pair (like a9 turning Ace or kj turning k/j) and being strong enuf to jam turn. But as deeper, its more about board coverage so c/r 75 stuff? tho villain doesnt have 75 so not sure why u say board coverage is reason for c/r gutter like that
I imagine it's because those hands have better blockers to the continuing range of villain and have comparable equity. Because we're so short it doesn't matter that our equity isn't to the nuts. (well, it matters, but significantly less so). As a result they just get more folds and do just as well (or slightly better) when villain continues.
I don't know how to say this without sounding like an idiot but... "Because it's the nuts".
PIO tends to fastplay things (and also raises a bunch of other stuff, forcing villain to put money in the pot or get run over) so when our hand is literally beating everything, PIO is probably going to try and put money in.
Great video! Would love to see some node locking and other pio stuff from you. Escpecially focusing on possible exploits of the playerpool or different typical types of opponents in mtts.
Really interesting video Chris, good to see some pio backed solutions to MTT spots which are macro applicable. Really good video for mainly cash players to understand stack depth differences and what adjustments to make. I'm sure everyone would love more of these theoretically based videos.
I wanted to ask, then at 60bbs will pio value protection a little more than at 40bbs and closer to 85bbs?
At 19:07 you talk about sauce playing heads up. You discuss an A 10 5 board and how he will c bet a small amount of 5 x to protect against overbets on 5 turns. You say the only reason he does this is to protect against overbets and that if villain couldn't overbet but rather just bet 60% pot sauce "wouldn't need trips because his aces are plenty strong". Can you clarify this?
Without the 5x he has a substantial range disadvantage on 5 turns. However, if the bet is smaller he gets to his defend frequency with just the aces? My language is funny around the concept and looking for guidance. I get it intuitively but want to make it 100% concrete. Thanks man. Don't know if you're even still a coach but if anyone else has any input that would be great.

are the initial ranges (opening and flatting) based on 20bb or 80bb eff. stacksize

Helpful video, good explanation.

very well made video would def watch more pio related stuff
Glad to hear, my next one is a pio vid too

Yeah do some node locking in one of your pio videos for sure.
That sounds good to me. I like how you were clear and didnt rush any concepts in this video. Looking forward to the next ones!

Why do you think PiO wanted to almost unanimously x/r top set at 45 and 80bbs? That stood out to me.

god this series is so sweet, apotheosis analysis is super good

Vs a smaller turn bet our various Ax will have enough EV to call bet. Vs overbets Ax calldowns can easily go negative and we need something stronger
