the video doesn't seem to be working :(

edit: had to switch browsers, oddly enough all other videos were loading fine though

erict87 9 years ago

It seems to be a firefox issue for me too. I tried restarting my computer and it didn't work. I switched browsers from firefox to Microsoft edge/explorer and the video works fine. All the other videos work for me on firefox.

Weird.

21:30 Q6s , which hands u bluff R with if not dis?

Steve Paul 9 years ago

I have a lot of air, if I bluff all of it all the time I'm certainly overbluffing. Would be fine to bluff this sometimes.

Steve Paul 9 years ago

a bunch of random garbage I didn't bluff turn with. If playing correctly it's probably just some % of a bunch of hands.

i wanted to know exact hands combos. Wanted to see your thought proccess behind selecting ur bluffs in this spot, with the range u got to the R with..

It did not work with Microsoft Edge/Windows 10. I also tried Google Chrome and it did not work there either.

just 10 min or so in and i like it a lot, but i think you could improve by not saying "gonna bet here with a bdfd" as a comment on a spot. like @9:40 you cbet axqs on T84ss and say "gonna start with a cbet with a bdfd" vs 2 peels from the blinds. i'm thinking, and i may be wrong, that any 2 broadway is going to be a cbet there, bdfd or not, but since you mention the fact you have a bdfd, it makes it feel like that's the reason why you're cbetting, and makes me intuit that with no bdfd you wouldn't cbet, yaknow? gonna continue watching now...

Steve Paul 9 years ago

I would not cbet 100% of my overcards, though that was based on intuition more than numbers. Thanks to 6seven8 for the more detailed post!

To simplify what Steve and 678 are saying, you will want to balance you betting and checking ranges. In the example, Steve will have all 16 combos of AQ. From a theory perspective you will want to have a mixed strategy and have some combos of AQ (and hands like it) that bet and some that check. It is a hand that could go either way but Steve leaned towards betting this combo because of the backdoor equity the hand can pick up. The reason for this is because there will be more turn cards that AQ with backdoor flush can continue on that the AQ combos without it cannot.

i do get what both of you are saying, but wonder whether we should take more exploitative lines and deviate from the typical RIO, GTO, PIO solver sort of frequencies in spots in these bovada games given they're random 25/50 cent players, in most cases deviating under the assumption that they flat too wide and don't defend enough when we bet multiple streets

Killian757 9 years ago

If you have a read that player is over folding that's fine. But if you are barreling with all your combos you will be doing so with little to no equity in many spots imo. And just because we are checking doesn't mean we are giving up on the hand.

Steve Paul 9 years ago

agreed, and I think your last sentence is an important point. It's really easy to think of checking as "giving up" and mentally just write it off at 0EV. So if a bet wins 0.01bb then one goes ahead and bets which is often a pretty significant mistake.

Gay Theory 9 years ago

why would that be a significant mistake ? especially if a check was also 0.01 bb
i think that ur statement is too vague

Steve Paul 9 years ago

gaucan, I'm all for nitpicking but this one seems too much to me.

We're in a 9bb pot with 2 overs and getting to see a free turn. If betting wins 0.01bb then it is a significant mistake to bet.

My previous post is necessarily vague since I have no way of putting a number on how often it is a mistake to make a bet that wins 0.01bb. That said, it is fairly clear (imo) that it is frequently a mistake to make that bet.

Gay Theory 9 years ago

for nitpicking we alrdy have sauce in our rio range, so no need more nits, lets gambol!

Jonathan Kohen 9 years ago

Minute 26 with KK, you say your range will be missed FDs and over pairs. Some of your FDs won't be interested in bluffing river as they block IPs folding range. How do you go about picking which bluffs you want to use in this river spot?

Steve Paul 9 years ago

I'd be more inclined to bluff missed spades and any gutshots I get there with. For diamonds, a hand like 98dd is probably better than AQdd to bluff with (even ignoring the very small EV of checking AQdd and having him check back missed worse diamonds).
